  1. My very very first way of making money was killing "man" in Varrock. There also was a Leatherbody spawn close, and that body would sell for a whopping 14 gp! I remember being really really happy when I had 300 gp so I could buy a knight's helm. (bronze full helmet). Then one time I went exploring the wild and found this amazing steel dagger. My brother was insanely jealous (really!). It didnt take that long before I realised there were better ways of course. (still, my bro tried to make me believe "man" was a real player and I believed him for a few days). Later on I moved to mining smithing and selling to shops. Got myself the amazing full mithril that way (and that took quite some time, 12 coal and 6 iron at a time, cause of fatigue, b4 sleeping bags)
  2. Time to buy 100k of those, what goes down, will go up :). That's what I did, but too early :(. Thought they would start going up at the price of their latest fall (around 430, but they kept falling to 400). Anyway, they are going up now. Red chins too, and for these, I got some for absolute minimum :-)
  3. I'd rather just trade in the pouch for shards :-). That's why sometimes, people are fooling themselves. When people are selling third age plates for 300m they arent really getting 300m. Say, the seller sells with onyx necklaces. He must have gotten these onyx necklaces himself somewhere? If he would have bought onyxes and crafted them into necklaces, he "makes" 500k per necklace. 300M (minus plate 37m) is rougly 90 necklaces. So he only "makes" 45m. The seller on the other hand gets an item worth 900k (if he enchants it), so he's "losing" 81m. You can follow the same logic with any other item. Pouches, you get back around the same price in shards (for crimson ones). So basicly, you're not even losing money. However, if you do decide to trade in, you got tons of shards which you need to sell. And quite funny, shards are overpriced, so people will offer cash and junk for them... Anyway, you can still make back about 60-90 percent of the cash you payed for the pouches. This means the seller is only "making" 10-40 percent of the "extra money" he's asking. With extra money I mean the extra money the buyer has to add for the junk. (say a mage hat: GE price 7.7M, Junk price 80M, seller adds 73M in junk, but in reality, he's only "making" around 10-20M (from that 73)). On the other hand, scrolls cant be exhanged for shards. So the only use for scrolls (and onyx necklaces etc) is to use them again, when YOU are selling an underpriced item. Quite a stupid situation TBH. I luckily got hold of a 3A kite and 3a mage hat, and I cant sell them since I have no junk. (and refuse to sell at Jagex's silly price). Making junk doesnt seem an option, since I'd better be runecrafting then. (I find it ironic how people are advising to make maples longs (u) or buy pouches lowest in GE to get junk)
  4. Srry Paw but I dont find you expanation satisfactory. First of all, people use normal chins for training at Ape Atoll. They arent that much slower, yet much cheaper. I cant see summoning being the reason they got up. Secondlly, I dont see how the "noobs" need a year to get lvl 63...
  5. Anybody else?
  6. Whats's happening with chinchompas? I've been tracking their prices and they keep going down. Are they nerfed or anything? If not, this is the time to buy :o
  7. I am 120 without a single 99 cape. My highest skill is 92 magic, does that make me noobish? I think not, I just dont like to grind my way to 99, rather have a few 80+. Got a quest cape though, better than an untrimmed fletching cape :D. ("better" is of course an opinion...)
  8. Couldn't agree more.
  9. You're not alone, I faced exactly the same problem. Saw people like Soma etc claiming they don't need food. So I go in there with my Karil, Bunyip and 6 lobbies. Had to tele pretty early... (86 def 92 mage)
  10. lifemage, read compfreaks reply. Try to compare apples with apples...
  11. He might not be a total jerk, but there has to be SOMETHING wrong when you get 13 blackmarks... I mean, they can't all be jagex mistakes. If it were 2, maybe 3 I'd believe the player is honest, and it's just Jagex giving wrongly blackmarks. But 13  And why would you ever say lol gay? (doesnt really matter, but I was wonder bout that :-))
  12. Fishy, you don't lag out there. In the past 2 weeks I died there twice cause of lag. On the other hand I like the combined mage and slayer xp + you can dont have to pay too much attention.
  13. How do you get temp muted for over 3 times, 2 times perm muted, and 13 blackmarks in the first place? Sorry, but I dont have any of these...
  14. Question is also: how LOW will chinchompa's go? Go check them out :o
  15. Before a few months ago, I had only died 2 times with pretty small losses: 1) Really stupid dead while questing. Thrower trolls. Was only just members and kind of freaked out. Lost 350k. 2) KQ with friend, he saved my helmet though. Lost around 400k. Was fighting, but she was pretty though that time. She was nearly dead, and as you can imagine, we tried to tele as late as possible. However, she kept living, and when I was at 35 HP I clicked my tele, nothing happened. Apperantly, I forgot to bring a charged crystal seed... Then almost a whole year of no death. However, I started doing some bandos with my mate. He was tanking. Lag, dead. Nothing to add, lost 1.5M. Btw, my mate dc'ed too, he appeared in his house with 18 hp or so. And lately, 3 months after the Bandos death, 3 more deaths have occured. I seem to die more and more... 1) Bork. I mostly kill him easily, so I bring cheap food like Tuna. Mage got me down to 45 hp. I'm thinking, hm, I'll eat when that bugger hits me one more time (Bork was nearly dead). Got hit a 23. Okay eat. Suddenly I'm dead. What I remember is another 22 and then some small numbers. Just that one time the mage hits me twice in a row for 20+, those stupid little orks decide to hit two 7's (or whatever) too... Lost fire cape and 1.5M in stuff. 2) Steel drags. This is where it gets really annoying. I'm maging those drags for like 2 hours. Got a good amount of charms, and drops, even a dragon med. Virus scan, computer freezes. I appear in lumby without my ahrim and infinity boots. I get to keep the stupid dragon med though... Ran back but too late. (had to wait 2 + min before I could log in again). 2M down the drain A week later (yes, twice in a week!), I decide to go back. This time I brought no inf boots, and a glory in stead of fury. I'd only loose farseer, glory, wealth, and drops this way. And yes, it happens again... After 3 hours of fire bolting bam, connection lost. Appear in fally. I got the drill now, run back, too late. Again... My computer fails me :(
  16. Difficult? Ok to me. Long? Ok to me. Expensive? Ok to me. I only hoped for something with less grinding (like farming, slayer and PP), too bad they didn't do that. :( EXACTLY. I just love farming and slayer :-) Is it that much grinding though? I thought you could now just go out slaying, and get summoning stuff along the way, combined with slayer xp, and combat xp (+ other drops). (and even farming xp if you are growing things in the mean time). You just gotta love multitasking :D BY THE WAY: If they would make the pouches tradeable, it will just be another herblore skill: the ingredients are monster drops (so not that common), so they would be quite expensive (500-15000 gp or so per). However, someone with LOADS money could just powerlvl it within a month. If you like powerlvling fine. I'm against it. Ever wonder why 99 slayer gets so much respect? I'd love to see summoning receiving the same respect.
  17. You guys are looking at it from the wrong side. Yes, you can't powertrain it. Or, let me say it like this, untill now, there isnt an obvious way to power train. However, If you are planning to train slayer, or just melee, you will be getting a lot of pouches along the way. After your monster killing, then you can start getting quick summoning xp. You can't expect to get like 40k summoning xp an hour, and also getting 60k attack xp. I think this will be some sort of passive skill, like slayer, but even more indirect. Go out with the intention to get combat xp up. In the mean time, summoning (like slayer) will come. Nicely done by Jagex IMO. I hate powerlvling (like fletching, woodcutting, ...) which are way too repetitive.
  18. That, my boy, is called supply and demand. Let's say, there are 100 of the new items in the game and there are 100000 people trying to get them (could happen with very rare items). Should the 100 items be sold at incredibly low prices, just because, huh, because of what actually? :ohnoes: Why not? Let me ask you this. Do you think that had there been restrictions all along that we would have this thread? No.. it is just a game and someone is mad because they can't make billions off some poor sap. I am happy because it will mean that I can afford it. So, in essence, we are all being selfish but for different reasons. Qeltar is being selfish because of lack of profits. I am being selfish because I can afford something. It is up to you to decide which one you agree with. I am sure that if I wanted to I could see the argument from qeltar. I just like it this way better. I'm sorry but you won't be able to afford it. Want to know why? Because Jagex forces the prices to be very low. Whereas normally, when there is high demand, most people would stop buying if prices reach an insane height (which some people still pay), now the prices cant reach that height. Result: tons of people trying to buy the item at the fix price => only 1 out of the XXX people wil be able to get them. Look at santas right now. Tons of demand, yet the price is forced to only go up by xx percent every day. Thus, tons of people are willing to buy, yet of course, no one is selling. In a normal market, santa's would just have jumped from 11.8m to 15m in one day, and the other day perhaps to 20m, because of people outbidding each other. Now, nearly no one can get a santa, not even the one which are willing to spend more on it. = FLAW , NOT GOOD
  19. I havent tried it yet (f2p atm), but from what I'm reading it seems just what I wanted. I like skills which you can train while doing others. Okay you can't powertrain it, but while doing slayer, you will now be training a fourth skill (slayer, hitpoints, att/def/str, summoning). In fact, skills that can be powertrained arent fun skills IMO. Maybe they should reduce the amount of shards you need, or make the charm drops more common, I dont know if it is THAT slow. But as long as it gets more than 10k an hour, I'd say it's fine. Remember runecrafting before runners/abyss, guys? Or prayer withouth altar and lots of money to buy dragon bones. and btw, The tortoise thing only requires one shars for 50 xp (and a tortoise shell and charm thingy). Getting the tortoise shells might be hard though :-) I can also imagine people will be willing to pay quite a bit of money for the higher lvl scrolls. That way, your investments will be (partly) returned.
  20. Nice guide. I love farming myself. Lvl 80 here. Also did tree seeds from my kingdom though. No single penny spent :-) I just love how it's a kind of passive money maker. In my one year of members, my bank has increased by 60m. Slowly, but steadily. Of course, this is not only from farming, but I think it has a large influence. And i'm not even planting them that often. And indeed, I'd strongly advice to move on to snaps once you are lvl 63 and include my arm's patch. On another note: Do you really plant them every 75 minutes? I always have a hard time having the discipline to plant them so often. I'd say I do it a least once a day, and more if I happen to pass by one of them while skilling. Also, I dunno why, but I just plant every seed above Irit that I got myself (through slayer). (that was when irits were 2k each, not with the inflated prices now). I know it's not that profitable, but still, I just can't leave them, and they dont sell at all so... Last remark: If ranarr/snap seeds are getting really expensive (at one point, people were buying ranarrs at 30k + and snaps at 35k +), you can move on to kwuarm. I remember that at that point, kwuarms were like 15k each, 3x the herb prices, whereas ranarr would be 30k each which means almost 4 times the herb prices (back then). One thing the GE has destroyed: the bargains on seeds. I just LOVED buying seeds from farming-haters for cheap prices. Kwuarms for 10k each (back then), for sure! Snaps 25k each, all right! Btw, I quit members in august (planning to return though), thats why I'm talking bout "back then" etc...
  21. I don't think its possible to use 3.5m of recourses to kill 1 boss. I'm pretty sure your inventory doesnt have that many slots. I meant to kill several bosses :-). But okay, I got it now. Shame for you. No one to bless your grave there I guess :D
  22. Wow! My best is a double drop: Verac helm and Karil Xbow. Was worth 2.6 or so back then :-)
  23. Did you mean you die at the Sara boss, or you just used a lot of resources? anyway, grats with the total. I'm 4 lvls higher, yet almost 100m total xp less :D 70 agil ftw.
  24. Crystal saw, tea, and a special stew will take care of that. I got my KQ head mounted at 70 construction, and my big shark too. (I think you need 78)
