No way. You really don't get hit that much if you are good at switching. I'd get dragon boots in stead of snakeskin though (or rangers).

Assuming that there is an equal chance of it reducing 1% damage as there is it reducing 20%, you'd average 4% of the Graardor's Ranged damage reduced. The Chaotic is nowhere near as good as an Elysian or Divine, but because of it's stats it's the 3rd best shield for the majority of situations in RuneScape where Defence is required. The special effect is barely worth mentioning though. For example, for the Chaotic to be equal in terms of HP saving to the Elysian (ignoring their stat differences), you'd need to be fighting a monster that maxes at least 700 with Ranged, can't be prayed against and have no other monsters attacking you at that time. Does that mean Elysian's going back up? Only reason it crashed was Chaotic Shields tbh. Elysian were never worth their street price, so I'd be surprised to see them go back up to what they used to be, but no, the Chaotic won't replace the Elysian. The only problem is, a lot of people don't listen to reason and buy items regardless of whether there are better alternatives or not. There are still people who believe Ely > Div as "Div wrecks Prayer." Elysian looks significantly better with pretty much everything, and the sigil looks like it could beat up the divine sigil. That aside, I'd assume elysian beats divine at dk's, yes, no? Haven't been in ages. Not when soloing with a yak, I'd say. You use brews then and divine will save you more brews than it will consume extra prayer.

Did you use defender? With bandos I can easily tank miths by switching between prot mage and ss. I can even solo KBD with just ss...so you're doing something wrong... edit: no def pots used Rune defender yeah. I just used purely soul split though, no switching to protect. I did only one dragon, so maybe I was unlucky... Also, for whoever is interested: Just did a few duels with someone with CLS (I have rapier). I am maxed melee, he was 99 str, 96 att, 92 def. We duelled with bandos tassets + chest, everything else off. No prayer and no food either. The outcome was 11 - 7 for the guy with the CLS. At first it went very even, until 7 - 6, then he kept winning until 11 - 6. To be honest, those duels only confirm how good cr is not how good the cls is... The setting you used is the worst case cenario a cr can be in comparison to cls(high def, no accuracy boosting items) and it still came out that well... Do remember thet every accuresy/strength boost is used much better on a faster, inferior(by percentages) weapon. I'd predict a 10-7 outcome on maxed/no pots/pray with bandos/def/fury/fire(ardy for cr) cape etc and even better if pots/pray allowed. Bedman, duel me with all armor on, no prayer or pots? I have CLS. Was thinking about doing that with a friend who is getting CLS today, but I would gladly try it out with you too. Don't have too much time today though. I neglected my work (got exams) yesterday, planning to do a bit more today, so we'll see where I get. Probably something for tomorrow, but you never know I give in :D. Add me if you can;

Aah nice. Kinda makes me want to have a chaotic long too. You think Bandos etc. is better than void? I guess void is slightly more useful for rapier, since you only give up stab bonuses from fighter hat (which I dont have) and barrow gloves, and you can keep wearing Ardy cloak with it's awesome +6 stab. I love how ardy cloak is useful again for me. Kinda sucks that there is no +8 stab ring on the other hand. I tried 8 trips first with bandos, neit (dont have fighter hat) etc... with just one sip (so no turmoiling most of them) and it was pretty slow often. (as in sometimes you 3 hit them, sometimes you just keep hitting zeroes, and I mean A LOT). Void + turmoil doesn't have that problem, but of course bandos + turmoil might have it neither. How many sips of prayer do you take for the next run? I'd strongly advise taken extra sip if that means you can turmoil all of them. To squareroot: I got to agree with Lugia. I don't do barrows for the uber loot. I do it cause it's pretty relaxing, and fun to try for uber fast runs. And every now and then you get a nice surprise, like the guthan helm I got at my first trip yesterday. All in all I made around 3.7m yesterday in under 1.5 hours. EDIT: Just timed a run. Started timer when I left the bank and stopped it when I arrived in my house again. Managed to do 10 chests with my setup (changed the one I posted a little bit). I stopped because I only had one dose of prayer left. Time: 60 min 10 sec. Not as good as I thought it would be tbh. Yesterday it seemed I was pretty lucky with chest locations. Was a bit laggy today, but even that might have shaved off 30 sec max. So yeah, it's probably more around 6 min/chest in the long run. I do have runs where my overload only stops working when I'm working on the second brother or so though. Got 613k in runes, bolt racks and a half key. No barrow drops. Still not bad IMO. About soul splitting: It can be pretty damn handy, and perhaps the best on all brothers except dharok, but sometimes it can really screw you over too. It's also handy when you have a little prayer left and go in the tunnels to heal up on monsters.

Are even the guys with dlegs and torsos autoing? Wow... The entire video is only 3 1/2 minutes long... Unless that vid is really sped up, that's 92k per 3 minutes going by the 2nd part... 1.8m an hour. It's sped up, probably about 2x by the looks of it but thats still 900k. Thanks for this thread, gave me the idea to try out void + rapier + turmoil + deflect. It absolutely owns. 5 min chests consitently.

Barrows with turmoil + deflect on every brother. Consistent 5 min chests. Really fun, and so straightforward, I love it!

I thought it kinda balanced out since he wasn't completely maxed melees. Also, bandos chest + tassets isnt that high def (around 170). It does have +20 higher stab def though. On another note: Just tried rapier + void + turmoil + deflect at barrows, and it completely owned. Did chests consistently under 5 min. Tweaking my setup now to last 12 chests (one hour).

Sorry to bump up this old topic, but I think I pretty much found the best set up there is (from everything I tried). I can do consistent chests under 5 min this way. (did 8 so far, and only one was over). Here is my invo and what I'm wearing: As you can see, a lot of ppots. This is because you will turmoil + deflect EVERY brother on the surface. Ardy cloak is to boost my stab att and give some prayer bonus. Ring is dragonstone (e) for stab bonus. You can use Onyx if you wanna risk it. An important part of the set up is the rapier. I'm not sure how well a whip will perform, nor a godsword. A CLS or maul will probably own too. Now, using prayer makes everything VERY straightforward and fun :-). Sip 3 doses of prayer (I mostly do 2 and a 3rd one if I see I need it, which is nearly always). Make sure you have quick curses on deflect melee and turmoil. Sip overload, use quick curse, and start pounding. You 3 hit brothers quite often. The sequence of the brothers doesn't matter at all anymore, because you will pray on all of them. I start out with karil or ahrim mostly, so my spec bar can restore for ahrim/karil (so kill karil, do all melee brothers, kill ahrim, or the other way around). I used dds cause I temporarily sold my claws, but actually I'm very happy with it. 2 Claw specs are often overkill, while with a dds you can dose the things more (use 3 dds specs for instance). I mostly tank the brothers I get in the tunnel. When they really start hitting me, I sip a pray pot though, and use turmoil + deflect. In the tunnels, I only kill 2-4 monsters, basically whenever I see a blood worm or small rat in my way. All in all I use 3 doses of prayer, one dose of overload and 2-3 doses of spec restore per chest. Hard to put a number on food usage, but it's really low. Basically it's just what monsters hit on me in tunnels, and if some tunnel brother gets lucky. I value overloads and spec restores at zero gp (because I got 99 herblore by it (lifetime supply), and it was one of the cheapest routes at that time), so it only costs me around 8k a chest. Last thing I should add is that I haven't used the above inventory yet. The inventory shown above is a tweak from my first try out run. This try out run was with 2 overloads, more brews (5) and the same amount of ppots. I ended up with 3 brews and 3 pray pots left, so I decided to toss in more overloads and spec restores. It will probably need some small tweaks, but I think a 12 chest set up is possible. So that's it: A method that gets you runs under 5 min, requires no annoying autocast/equipment switches, and is just plain fun to use (if you get in some nice hits :-)).

How many balls did you use?

You don't lose any time picking up charms. And even if you did the XP you gain is definitely worth the time spent. Xp gain past 99? Don't see why you would care about that unless you're maxed or something. I find the amount of 99 summoners that still pick up all charms surprisingly large, I did that for a few days after 99 but then I was like nah it's pretty useless anyway, can't be bothered to do it anymore. Summoning is still one of the easier skills to get impressively ranked in, which is why I currently pick everything up. No lies I haven't actually used any greens or golds in a very long time though. They make a nice collection in the meantime. Many people with 99 summoning are also maxed combat, so if you're training at all, you probably do care somewhat about xp after 99, or you were lazy and didn't max slayer early enough. :P My reasoning in picking up every charm is that I value summoning experience, and it really can be done with minimal time wastage. Kill something, attack the next, after each attack move a few steps towards the drop and you'll have it in no time. It's a bit tedious, but since RS is tedious it doesn't strike me as too unreasonable. Exactly how I see it. I was quite surprised to see I was rank 590 summoning, when I used all my charms at the xp weekend (went from lvl 98 to 99 and up, 15.1M xp)

I just bought a Rapier. I tried it out a bit in clan wars, and tbh, I wasn't too impressed by the accuracy or high hits. Okay, I did 2 hit a guy once (550 440), but all in all it didn't seem that game changing as I hoped it would have been. On slayer however, it absolutely owned. I managed to hit a 701 on a dark beast as my max (this was including dfs and str amulet for max non pvp armour str bonus). I timed 10 min of pure rapiering (no claw specs) and came out at 38.4k slay xp per hour. That's pretty damn impressive, for pure melee'ing. After that, I tried mith drags. I used ardy cloak and onyx (i) for extra accuracy, but it still sucked. I only brought a few tuna, thinking I would manage with soul split, but I tellied out after one drag... Gonna try KBD now.

I got used to gathering them all, so it's hard to stop doing it :-). just some remarks though: Greens can be very cheap if you make fruit bats Blues can be very cheap if you make lava titans. Pick up the charms during your slayer task. Even just going out there to get them, is good "money", considering you save around 6k each obby charm (and can get around 200/h). Heck, I even made a few mill, when some clan bought out lava titans and they were 10k each.

What about rapier guys. I'm thinking about getting that one, since it seems that nowadays with all accuracy boosters (turmoil, overloads, ...) speed > strength bonus in nearly any case (except pking I guess where you need Ko's). If whip was really better than godsword at bandos, I can see rapier being better than CLS too.

Why don't you use F keys to you can have "wield maul" ready at spec bar menu?

Wow, didn't think you could get that much crimsons in ancient cavern in 39 min. You are going at a rate of roughly 158 charms an hour!

High prices, "good" bots (read: lack of updates to detection systems), decreased measurements against botting (read: lower risk) Yeah it seems pretty crazy. Only one year ago, if not less, I was there and there were no bots at all.

You got to understand people are suspicious now whenever you post a vid :-).

I had an offer in for red mask since the last update, and was happy to see it updated. Went to check forums to see masks are crashing so I ended up a bit less happy. Still, I think it's not going to last long (for masks that is), so I bought a blue for a little under med (didn't sell instantly for min). Kind of ticked that I don't have more cash available to buy more :( (stuck in 6 santas mainly that I couldn't bother to sell earlier).

Why is that a bad thing? He's a 75 defense "DFS/summoning pure". [/hide]Still, 1 more def level won't make much of a difference. Why not get 99? he wanted to stay 37 combat. Yep, he's a 37 combat, 75 defence DFS summoning pure that can summon an iron titan at lvl 77 summoning.

I personally use verac top + bottom + fire cape and turmoil them (+ soul split flashing if I need healing).
