  1. This thread now makes my list.
  2. Yeah, What's been your favourite thread this year? The whole forum counts, share your best memories on the forum this year. 2010 in OT started here: http://forum.tip.it/forum/9-off-topic/page__prune_day__100__sort_by__Z-A__sort_key__last_post__topicfilter__all__st__510 (I may even add a poll for the best in the last week of December)
  3. My word, have you no perception of a thread not made to be serious? This is an opinionated thread where people should use their imaginations. People cannot prove anything which uses the imagination. It is an intelligent assumption. If I wasn't a mod I would be using much more descriptive terms but please, just chill. The hostility here is unbelievable from select users. It is now wonder general discussion is losing activity recently when a thread which is out of the box gets such a bad reception by the minority. I would argue adversely. There are people here who have admitted to staying in the game for as long as they have because of fan sites. That is part of the user base of Runescape. Therefore, the game would have less users if it wasn't for Fan sites. It is the extent of this the thread is about. Again, if you don't want to discuss that extent, but want to belittle the thread on a whole, you may as well not post (although there is not much chance in that happening is there?)
  4. Looks so christmasy. What happened to the monkey from the preview picture?
  5. But if he's now quit, he can't have been the best.
  6. That's very true. You have to count state of mind into how efficient you are too. If you go all out for a few months but then spend a few weeks off due to having done too much, you undo it all. Whereas somebody who is enjoying themselves but playing less efficiently can play constantly.
  7. My word, you still don't get it do you? I'm not trying to win or lose, I'm trying to express to you that a thread doesn't have to have a definitive answer. A thread doesn't have to be totally serious or have a relevant point. But thank you for keeping this thread alive. Many people play to 'show off'. I'm not saying they want to strut around thinking they are better than others. By show off, I mean that they like to let others know about their achievements and to show them. Take for example the blogscape forum here. Another example would be those who post in the screenshots sticky at the top of this forum. It is questionable whether many of these people would still play if they couldn't share their achievements and gameplay with others. Would they still have a drive to get said achievements? Another branch, which would apply to me if I were still a player would be the lack of player contact in the current game. This is an MMO, but much of the game world is barren and empty due to things such as the G.E. For me if I were still playing, I would be driven to external fan sites just to talk to other players of the same game. Fan sites allow discussion with others about any aspect of the game. The RSOF unfortunately is too busy to allow for a good discussion with another person without being abruptly interrupted. The game would just feel cold and therefore bore me.
  8. If you want, as I have said, you can not post if you think it has no value. It is you that are keeping the thread alive ;) You may be able to get a little bit of a community through the RSOF and clan chat now, but would they have come into existence if people had not previously had fan-sites? Would the clans that championed them have lasted on the shambles RSOF from the past? I personally think they wouldn't. I don't think Runescape has the staying power over players without the ability to show off goals and achievements either of individuals or groups in picture format.
  9. A topic doesn't have to be serious. You know, that thing called fun? Fun in imagining how a different world would be. The point is to discuss just how large the effect is. May I ask your opinion on it?
  10. I can't understand their reasoning for this outside of them being a business. It ruins the game experience for everybody else and is no deterrent for botters. Perm bans may not have caught everybody, but they stopped people botting on mains too much due to fear of the ban. Now what do they have to fear? Spending an extra day botting?
  11. The point isn't to outright agree, but to discuss and have your own ideas on the direction. But as I say, if you don't want to discuss the topic at hand, you don't have to post.
  12. They are saying that the topic is so ludicrous that there is nothing LOGICAL to post about. This is trying to talk about what doesn't exist: (Would the US still be around if ancient Greece had lasted another century) and the like. Would YT still be around if people couldn't comment on videos might be another good topic to discuss [/sarcasm] A better topic would be, would RS still be played as much without clan chat. Then what about all the posts above yours? As I say, you are not forced to post if you don't want to understand the topic.
  13. In the grand scheme of these forums though 08 is pretty recent. It does feel like an age ago though. Tempted to unlock and bump that thread
  14. Looking back, the earliest OT thread I remember was wongtong eating glass which was only 08. I'm definitely new school.
  15. Not really done anything exceptional recently. I think I was very un-selfish the other day when I convinced a girl I'm into to get back with her ex-bf instead of me for some odd reason that I still haven't forgiven my brain. I also found some original documents in the city archives by the police officer who arrested this guy in WW2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_von_Werra It described the car journey to the police station where Werra explained how he had escaped from the two prisons in England and how he had been re-captured. (The wiki article does not go into enough detail, the man should have a Movie made honestly)
  16. I'm too new school. I didn't venture down to OT until 06 at the earliest. You should stay around for some festive fun.
  17. What use is money in P2P? It may have more things to do, but they are all to the same end goals of having more money or higher skills.
  18. Haha they are great.
  19. The problem with Anon and wikileaks is that they are largely untouchable being internet based. There is nothing your ordinary person can do to stop them. Governments can be protested against in person, these cannot. Governments attempt to stabilise. Kept secret, these things keep countries stabilised. It is wikileaks spreading these publicly that destabilises.
  20. I agree with the second and last statement, but not the middle one. Yes people support military actions and that military action has the potential to harm civilians, however, I do not consider it terrorism. It does not set out to harm civilians which terrorism does so cannot be compared to the original study of the topic.
  21. Please show me a study that says Anon want to "stop order and stability", and anything at all that says Wikileaks are trying to destabilize governments. Attacking websites and stopping business is stopping stability. But please, I don't even need to find a 'study' for you. It is right there in front of you to see. Anon attack companies they don't like without going through the respectful and legal means. It creates a lack of stability for on-line companies and on-line trading. Again, Wikileaks are destabilising governments. They may not be attempting to do so, but it does have the potential to do so (as I said).
  22. I have no need to take any action because I'm satisfied (not fully but enough) by the government. I can walk down the street safely, do my job, go to uni, socialise and basically anything I want to do safely. Anon want to stop order and stability. They are terrorists. It will be hard for anybody to sway me from that opinion. Wikileaks may not directly want to destabilise a whole country, but what they have the possibility of doing is destabilising a government or various governments. To range this^ And to do that, the world needs to work. If it didn't, they would be removed from office. The world has evolved into what it is today. It has gone through political systems and is a system which works in the modern world.
  23. You can throw around all the terms you want to try and label somebody, but sees all has a point. If you can find an equal study to back up your opinion you are encouraged to, but without such, you have to ask whether you have a leg to stand on in the argument.
  24. The reason I currently trust governments is that I currently live my life in a world which works from my perspective. I therefore have no reason to distrust them. Something may be 'pretty obvious' to some because of their perspective but to others, who have less bias towards wanting a government dragged through a bush, can take a step back and think about the wider world for a second and think about how business' work. The difference between Anon, wikileaks and a government is that the government does whatever it can to have a world that works. The other two do whatever they can stop the government from doing that.
  25. I said proof, not rumour. This is the problem with this whole affair. Everything that has been said has all been rumour from random websites on the internet. I'm sorry, but the internet is not a trustworthy source. Give me proof, show me a statement from Amazon saying they have taken it down due to pressure from the U.S Government. I'm also wondering what the 'contact' was. For all we know, he knows one of the CEO's personally and 'contacts' them all of the time.
