  1. its under-cutters like you that have ruined whip prices. thank you Perhaps it was "over-pricers" like you who ruined them to begin with?
  2. I really don't see the fascination with gp in the game. I've only got mediocre skills by anyone's standards and making enough money for a whip and a couple of barrows sets is trivial. I don't need anything more than that so any extra money I make is fairly useless unless there is a particular skill I want to buy a couple of levels in.
  3. I alch anything that will yield more than I could offload the nats for.
  4. One from a chaos druid and one from a cave slime.
  5. You know that if you have a greater chance of getting nests, that you're going to get more nests? Not entirely correct. If you increase the chance of getting something you can expect to get more of them over the long term. If you have a one in five chance of finding a coin on the footpath every time you go for a walk, then for every five walks you can expect one coin - as the number of walks approaches infinity. For some groups of five walks you might find three coins, then you might go for fifteen walks without finding a coin. If you increased the chance of finding a coin to two in five, then there is still every possibility that you might go for 100 walks and still end up with 20 coins. Rather more on topic - I haven't noticed any perceptible increase in nest-drops. But then I tend to browse the web while I woodcut and listen out for the sound of trees falling so it's quite possible I'm getting more than I realise.
  6. Getting sinister keys from Salarin the Twisted is a good way to boost your collection from chaos druids under Yanille.
  7. Ewww... sounds... sticky. My major change would be to implement an Auction house, similar to what some other members have described. You'd place your items at the auction house, specify a minimum price and a time limit. If they were purchased, then the money would deposit itself in your bank, otherwise the items would return to the bank. Other players could put a bid in on your items - their money would be placed in trust at the auction house (ie you'd need to pay up front and have the money returned if you missed out) It would be very difficult to design a point-and-click interface that was easy enough to use though. Although perhaps it could be outside of the game as an adjunct to the official forums, instead of the trading forums have an auction house... it would work much better as an ebay-style website than an ingame feature.
  8. OK, firstly it's fairly common practise to ask for skills in a number of development environments when you're advertising for a programming position. As has been pointed out C++ and Java are reasonably similar - yet different enough to catch people out in an interview situation if they weren't truly familiar with each language. Doing this ensures that the candidates who make it through have a sound understanding of programming principles and can apply them to different languages rather than simply have learnt a language by rote at school and be able to copy / paste script examples. Secondly the position is for a graduate developer... that means straight out of university pretty much. Still rather wet behind the ears (and not asking for too much money). Certainly not the sort of programmer you would take on to build a major revision of an MMORPG. Looks more like a routine junior team-member offering to me.
  9. Why would anybody mind how somebody else decided to play their character? Seriously dude, that's like worrying about what newspapers your neighbours like to read. Any of a number of things that have already been mentioned... including starting a new character. Having maxed out stats hardly prevents you from doing any of that. Reads more like you're annoyed that other people have higher levels than you and instead of working to increase your own stats you'd simply rather they were knocked down a peg or two. Get over it.
  10. Usually relaxes me... except last night when I accidentally alched my whip. >_<
  11. Alternately there are a couple in the dungeon east of Ardougne, with some rocks to put between you and the doggies if you want to range/mage.
  12. That you can't tell differently coloured herbs apart, but you can distinguish between their seeds at a glance.
  13. If you fancy getting your range and mage up to 70 then the new black salamanders are the ultimate barrows weapon. No need to change weapons, just flick the attack style between mage, range and strength as you need to.
  14. You don't lose it. What happened is that you got a full load of logs and teled. When you leave the island the greegree wrenches out of your hand. Usually it goes into your inventory, but if it's full it goes on the ground at your feet. The best way is to equip your axe first before teleing... that way your greegree is safely in your inventory and you won't accidentally leave it on the floor of castlewars.
  15. Inventory: Ectophial, Pray Pots, Tuna Potatoes. Equipped: Farseer, Lunar top, lunar legs, lunar boots, dark gloves, quest cape, glory amulet, ring of life, black salamander, harralander tar. I <3 my salamander edit: forgot my spade.... as usual.
  16. Half keys are crystal, crystal is not attracted to magnets.
  17. Certainly does... doing that at Lunar Isle now.
  18. I need to correct my earlier post. I just ran from Lumby to Draynor, rune axe in hand and picked up 9 arrows... must not have tested it enough before.
  19. The attractor doesn't work if you have an axe or pick equipped or in your inventory... the metal ruins the magnetic attraction, likewise weapons (other than ranged) and metal armour. And you need to be on the move for it to work so combat, mining, woodcutting are out. Agility and runecrafting would be good, thieving, farming, hunting not too bad. Other things like collecting herblore seconds, picking and spinning flax etc are also good. I get around 1 steel arrow per 7 - 10 seconds of moving about.
  20. I'll add a voice for the chinchompas too. I'm at lvl 62 doing red chinchompas on pots without a hassle in the world. Slightly slower xp than running four nets at red salamanders, but that gets very crowded. Chinchompas you don't need to rely on vacant trees, all you need is a square, plus they're stackable so you have no need to keep releasing them.
  21. A lot of worthy points raised on both sides of the issue. My $0.02 is as follows: We're competetive people - humans - gamers perhaps moreso than average. Being that competition is human nature, wherever there are large enough numbers of humans gathered, either in RL or online, there will evolve various forms of competition. Anything that can be compared on an internet forum inevitably will be. Join date, post count, 'karma' scores etc are all things that can be readily compared - and therefore readily used as innacurate pseudo-measurements of a poster's intelligence and relevance. Join Date... "So and so has been here for three years, you've only been here a month, why do you think I should listen to you?" The fact that someone has signed up to a forum at a particular date has absolutely no bearing on how long they've been partaking in a particular activity or what their level of understanding of it might be. I've had the exact same situation happen to me - on a professional forum no less - where I've been googling for something, ran across a post on a forum with a question I've known the solution to, signed up, posted an answer, been dismissed as a stupid newbie by forum "regulars" who have since missed out on the experience that my 10 years in the field might have brought to their forum. Post Count... The reason why we're discussing these things in the first place. Again... the number of times I can hit the "submit" button is no reflection of the quality of my posts. If it is seen as any such measurement it will, invariably, attract spam. Any forum I've seen where post count has been used to secure certain sections of the forum has been practically swamped with useless posts aimed solely at boosting post counts. 'fame' / 'karma' / 'reputation'... I've seen these sorts of systems in play too. While they can be a useful tool for suppressing rampant trollery (see slashdot) they more often tend to foster an atmosphere of groupthink. People become afraid to go against the status quo for fear of being -karma'd out of sight. At it's worst it swings the other way where people post only things they think will result in positive votes from other members... essentially giving the entire forum over to the practise of karma-whoring rather than the original, intended purpose. So how to minimise the whole "I can pee further than you can" element while still being able to pin the ribbons on the chests of those who deserve them? Eliminate the points of comparison that are essentially meaningless - post count and join date. Let people's posts stand on their merits - regular readers will soon form an opinion about the quality of various poster's output. In regards to rewarding the veteran posters who give out sage advice day in and day out and deserve a virtual feather in their caps... make them something really special, something that can only be given out by mods, staff or admin - something like a little ribbon graphic that has an accompanying title when a user mouses over it like "Awarded for giving great advice." This way people are encouraged to do the right things in order to get the "respect", there are no shortcuts, and the people with the trinkets really are the people who should be listened to.
  22. I wonder what the result of someone who had not done the requisite quests to access Morytania going through my Kharyll teleport would be.
  23. Thanks guys... Glad to see it's just me and we haven't been nerfed. I guess I should be thankful for the run of good luck I did have. (Seriously you should have seen me dodge those darts there for a while) I like the Ape Atoll course... better XP per lap than Wildy, no pkers, no skeletons taking swipes at you, pick monkey nuts off the bush at the top of the course for food and when you're done you can just tele back to your point of choice.
