  1. Because you're making claims about what prices will do over the long run, and that's what happens over the long run: things change. And in particular, areas of the game that are unbalanced, too expensive or dysfunctional get fixed. All it takes is one update to throw all of your claims out the window. Such as the Living Rock Caverns and what they did to gold ore. You also seem to be ignoring the fact that when prices get too high, demand drops and supply increases. It is simply not feasible the dragon bone prices will continue to just rise indefinitely, and it's far from a sure investment by any means. I'm aware of those factors, but like I said, I don't see a drastic change to the prayer skill. It's been static for years. I also said that it is dependent on updates obviously... So don't think I'm ignoring that... but for the reason above, I would feel comfortable buying up bones if I were quitting for a year.. more than a year might be pushing it, but I don't see any big changes to prayer coming in the next year or two... as long as there are no updates that affect prayer, dragon bone prices will rise.
  2. Umm... why do people keep coming up with alternative updates, more servers, or more spawn spots to counter my argument? It's been 9 years and prayer has pretty much always stayed static, and for that reason I don't buy the alternative methods through new updates idea at all.. not to mention the anger from players if dragon bones were just phased out because some new update completely substituted their use.. Jagex would not be that stupid and they have always been careful to avoid updates that completely make another item's use obsolete.. If an alternative is actually introduced, and it does rival dragon bones, then their purpose (to lower the cost) would be defeated, as its cost would also reflect the high costs of dragon bones. i.e. there will not be a cheaper method of leveling prayer, as the price of prayer items is a function of marginal utility of xp and speed.. the cost of all bones are interrelated for this reason. And It seems like people are arguing against what I'm saying just for the sake of arguing.. Yes, my analysis may be simplified but that is the whole point of it. I understand there are other factors at play, but I think their effects are a minimal, and I don't think dragon bones will ever be phased out (like some people are suggesting).
  3. The economy has its ups and downs. The OP is looking long-term. Yes, thank you. Keep in mind I'm not saying that there will never be price decreases. There will be, and short term price fluctuations are perfectly normal. It's how the market works. I just think 6 months and a year from now, dragon bone prices will be higher.
  4. If you are planning on training prayer in the next year or two, I recommend that you stock up on dragon bones soon. If you are quitting the game, and are looking to invest in something while you're gone.. and can't quite afford a rare, dragon bones might be something good to look into. Likewise, if you just want to merchant something, dragon bones are a good option too! If you are expecting the bonecrusher to cause a decrease in price in dragon bones, think again. Why? Using a bonecrusher is highly inefficient and really slow in comparison to dragon bones on a guilded altar. Don't agree? Do the math yourself. E.g. I'd have to kill 5k ogres to get just 75k prayer xp... how much combat xp is that? About 1.2M -- which assuming I'm getting 50k xp per hour, would take 24 hours.. a whole day. Sorry, but not worth it, when I could do that on a guilded altar in what? Less than half an hour or something? Dragon and other high leveled bones will still remain the prayer leveling method of choice. At best, I see bonecrushers being used as an indirect, secondary method of training prayer (e.g. you are killing ogres for seeds and to raise your strength level, and you decide you might as well bring your bonecrusher to get some prayer xp). With that said, I can pretty much GUARANTEE that dragon bone prices will keep increasing in the long term, unless a revolutionary update is made to prayer and its methods of training, which I just don't see happening. Why is this? Simple economic analysis that anyone can do... SUPPLY of dragon bones will stay CONSTANT. There are only a few places that you can kill greens and they are packed enough as it is... the threshold of bones available in the game is pretty much supplied to the market each day. We will assume that the number of bones coming from other dragons is negligible... it is still far too inefficient to use those dragons for bone collection than greens. DEMAND of dragon bones will keep RISING. As more and more players get to the higher levels, and become richer, they will all aim for the coveted 138 combat... As we see in the market now, demand is overtaking supply and causing the price to rise (look at the 30 day average price on the g/e graphs). Based on the constant supply and rising demand, this will undoubtedly continue. Can anyone think of any other items that will keep increasing in the long term? Discontinued rares obviously, because their supply is always decreasing, but anything else?
  5. I don't know about not cannoning, but xp rates per hour for slayer are 10-15k without a cannon... 20k if you're lucky and that's pretty unlikely. So yeah, needless to say, getting 99 in a month is pretty impossible.
  6. Lets not lie now though. Dk tends to only fight clans they outnumber. I do feel this will be short-lived as the attention that DK gets on rsc will not be mirrored here. We have competed successfully with all of the current top clans. Can we say the same about your clan? Sit down kid. Valery I am not a kid so please dont talk to me as such. And good job you posted a pic of topics. Bet quite a few deal with teaming of some sort with people outside of your ml. Dont talk down to me when it is you that seeks attention. My clan has been in the top 10 and even top 5 longer than most clans have been alive. You only recently have been able to compete with the top 10. Valery, when you have a history rich as 'The', then you can talk.. and good luck with that, because 'The' has been at the top for much of the 10 years it's been around. DK and really any other clan around today can't compete with that. But welcome.
  7. It depends. More players mean more demand for certain items. But it also means a higher supply. Whichever effect dominates determines whether prices will increase or decrease. We can only speculate or predict what happens to each item.... no one knows for a fact what will happen.
  8. My range lvl is 81 and besides gaining about 20k xp and getting it to 81 a few days ago, I haven't touched it since 2005. I'm kind of eager to just max it out... what are the fastest ways to do this? I've heard red chinning at ape atoll? How much would it cost to go from 81 ---> 95 and 81 ---> 99? I've heard about 25M to 95? Is that true? My magic lvl is 73, and I haven't touched it in years either... What's the most efficient way to raise it? Is there a combat method?? I seriously don't think I could stand alching or tele'ing or any other non-combat way of training it, but if it's a lot cheaper then I'll consider it. All I want is 80 or 85 magic for now.. any recommendations? Please include the spell book and spell lvl as well (at the moment, I only have access to the normal spellbook, but will get ancient or lunar magicks if it's worth it).. I prefer speed to cost efficiency.. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Fun times.. I got a nice 600k drop  I dunno why people have to turn every single topic on tip.it into a flame/spam topic. Isn't it time for bed kids?
  10.  Those three clans pretty much define 'old school' when it comes to clanning. No one can compete with them in that regard. I would say RsD too maybe, but the fact is that they did disband for a year or two, and the clan itself today seems like completely new blood.. do they even have any old members left?
  11. Congrats WG!! I remember when TU warred you guys back in '04!
  12. RsD has its roots in RSC but they did close for a year or two so I'm not sure if they should count? Clans that I see today that I saw back in the day ('04, when I started clanning) -- The Sabres, 'The', Gladz, Jagz, The Mighty Red Dragons (other TA, I think they're still alive), BK, Corruption, TRWF, EoS, RsD, Lithuanian Forces (which I wouldn't really consider a "country clan" cause it has its roots in times where no such things existed), Exercitum, Dragonwood, Moriquendi, Wilderness Guardians... I think I got them all.. Edit: wait... looking at runehead, it seems as though TMRD has a "final list" and may actually be dead?
  13. Yeah, you guys had quite a few dungeoneering weapons.... but congrats on the win 'The'!
  14. It took me a while to get into clans, but back in early 2004... Not exactly sure how I ran into The Unbreakables, but it was a top 15 clan at the time... Warred clans like RR, BD, Mori, Wilderness Guardians, etc.. the first two used wars against us to propel into the top 10. The forums are still up after 6 years.. and every so often, people make random posts, which is really cool, cause it shows how tight knit a community we were. I still see some ex-members around, some holding high positions in clans like VR, DI (before it died), TRWF, Exodus etc. Umm yeah.. not much to it.. but I miss those days!
  15. On the other side of the Atlantic, so not happening. Anyways, I just play Runescape.. I'm not addicted to it, so would never even think of attending something like that even if I lived in London.
  16. Grats TR! Looked like a close fight.
  17. Yay.. an old school clan! 'The' <33333 And although I'm not a fan of the TWR, welcome back!
  18. Personally, I would wait... I can only tell you what would happen if people were rational. The price might dip even further if people don't really realize that these new weapons are NOT substitutes for current ones (this is assuming that they are not tradeable, really hard to get, and costly to repair, which is what I've heard).. but in the long term, when people figure things out, the price will stabilize to its normal levels again.. how long that takes? Who knows.. my prediction is that it shouldn't take too long, but maybe I'm giving the RS pop. too much credit in figuring these things out.. BUT it's only a guess. It could take a lot longer.
  19. This is a temporary 'crash'; really a result of a downturn in economic activity due to the new skill and everyone concentrating their time on it. I.e., there are fewer people buying things, which means a lower demand, and a lower price. Yes, I'm sure some items are crashing because people are concerned that their weapons and whatever will be replaced by these new ones.. but that really won't work out that way - the new weapons are not tradeable (right?), and are really rare and expensive to use (from what I understand, after 10 hours, a recharge costs 2M).. so I would highly doubt that they would substitute the current major weapons. I mean, there's a reason why barrows equipment, although having the best defence stats, are not the most expensive.. cause you have to recharge them. I would say, give it a few days, and everything will be back to normal.
