  1. I know there's a correlation between your combat lvl and the drops you get (if anyone wants to question that, there's even a quote somewhere in the Manual on the official site - and it makes sense)... but is there one with other skills? For example, with thieving (and perhaps someone should confirm this if they can), if your lvl is higher, and you're pickpocketing the master farmer, you're more likely to get valuable seeds.. e.g. I'm at 55ish thieving, I'll pickpocket for an hour and get a few guam seeds and nothing higher... while someone who I was talking to who had 88 thieving, gains 20-30 ranarr seeds a day pickpocketing farmers. Is it the same with... say, ab spectres (or chaos druids or whatever) and herb drops? Higher herb level means better herb drops? For those of you who have leveled herblore drastically before, have you noticed a change in the herb drops? If that's the case, I think I may have finally found a reason to level herblore (I think it's a cool skill, but it's practically the least economically efficient skill in the game)... Discuss.
  2. Summoning. You can have all the money in the world but it's still impossible to raise it without a lot of work (collecting the charms).
  3. Im not 100% sure, but it's what I've seen on the forums... Use spirit graahk (lvl 57 summoning) to teleport nearby the nature altar... craft the runes... tele to castle wars (w/ a ring of dueling), and repeat.
  4. I don't know why people have trouble with revs. If you have an okay magic lvl (60+), and 70+ range (for black dragonhide), you should be fine. Always ensure you have run energy, and if you get hit by one, turn on protect from magic and run... easy to get away.. I've never had any problems.
  5. Why do you need a slayer helm to cannon? If you're using melee, a salve amulet (e) will help you a lot (20%+ strength and attack on undead monsters).
  6. Of course it is lmao. 7mil extra defence xp which is virtually useless to him will take him hundreds of hours. It will take him A LOT longer to go from 90 att/str to 99 training controlled; time he could use to make even more money.. He can buy an SS or stick with a scim/defender... in the end, he can sell back the SS, and there you go - no loss of money.. plus he'll even profit as that extra time for 7mil defence xp will be wiped out and he can focus on actually making money with other skills. I'm sorry but suggesting training on controlled has go to be the stupidest thing I've read on these forums yet.. and I've seen some pretty stupid things. It is completely economically inefficient. It is MORE costly for him to train on controlled than to buy an SS and train attack and strength separately.
  7. Do NOT train controlled... You have 99 defence so there is no point at all.. It'll just be a waste as others have said. Personally I would go for 95/95 but if you're eager to get another 99 in a melee skill, I'd probably say attack...
  8. It's not bug abuse lmao. It's NOT a bug to be able to turn prayer on and off... Never thought something so stupid would come out of my mouth. Not against the rules. Case solved.
  9. Hate to attack you (or anyone here really), but this forum is filled with too many useless posts.. people trying to help, but being too vague, and ironically not helping at all. Just think the next time you make a post to help someone.. I myself get annoyed when I have a question, post it here, and have people answer in the vaguest/stupidest possible way.. it's really just frustrating. It seems people here are just out to raise their post counts or something. Anyways, go to entrana (you cannot wear any armor/weapons)... go into the dungeon in the north (west of law altar)... kill the zombies/skeletons there until you get a hatchet; and cut some branches off the tree (fill up your inventory so you dont have to come back). Use knife on tree.
  10. How many would you recommend with no prayer armor and a task of 127 of them? You SHOULD wear prayer armor.. otherwise your prayer will drain very fast and you'll end up using twice or three times more prayer pots. I used monk robes w/ salve amulet (e).. the monk robes are easily attainable. I haven't finished my task yet, but I think I killed about 60 (188 to kill total) with 3 or 4 prayer potions (4 dosed). You will profit, so don't worry about money.. take 4 pray pots at a time; bank when you have enough herbs (maybe even pick up all herbs that are 1.5K+), and come back.
  11. Sorry - I'm 91 attack, 91 strength, 87 defence and 91 hp. What's the obsidian combo...? [scim+Obby shield?]
  12. Okay, I'm training strength, and am really getting tired of the scim+defender combo. Should I upgrade to the SS? Is it worth it? Is it really as fast as the whip? And most importantly, how much more xp/hr can I expect with it (say... training at armoured zombies or really anywhere in general). I'm just having a hard time justifying spending 8mil on a weapon... I did buy my first whip for twice that much but I think it would bug me now.. especially cause I wouldn't mind spending that 8mil on prayer. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks. Edit: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2item_id=7094 Here it says it shares the same speed as the whip and scim.. but the whip is faster than the scim is it not? Which is it?
  13. Do they come down there? (the dungeon with the armoured zombies) And I believe the chaos temple is in about lvl 15 wild. Are the revenants there capable of attacking someone lvl 120 combat? The only revs I've seen there are lvl 75ish werewolf ones... so they can't attack me, but do higher lvls one that can venture this low in the wild?
  14. I don't think Jagex can create a system that would be able to act as a check on AFKers. I really doubt that Jagex can track mouse movements - as that would infringe on privacy laws... so I think the way that Jagex actually decides on whether one is AFKing or not, is by making judgments based on the player's actions (or lack thereof in this case)... and not by hard concrete data.
  15. Can someone explain this? That's fake right? (the purple font and the length of the name)
  16. What are some ways of going from 72 to 80 magic? I was thinking camelot teleport, as it's probably the quickest.. it would cost about ~6M, which was the plan before, but I've decided I'd rather spend that 6M on prayer or an ss, so that idea has been scrapped. What other some other ways of going to 80? 1) Fastest way? 2) Cheapest way? 3) Or a combo of both? Medium speed and medium cost? Also please specify which spell book they come from... and I do not want to hear high alching, unless there is an item off of the g/e or elsewhere I can buy and alch to make minimal losses. I am NOT looking to make money.. just incur minimal losses hopefully.. but if I have to spend a few million, that's fine.
  17. thank you However, HP will get 1 exp per damage at the same time that slayer gets 1 exp, so HP and Slayer experience go up evenly (though you will actually get marginally more HP exp because slayer exp technically equals what the monster's HP maximum is, and as you fight a monster you can do more damage than the monster's maximum HP when it regenerates a health or two while you fight it). Isn't hp 1.33 per damage point? Cause I'm fairly certain it is. I really doubt that... 25k slayer xp = 100k regular combat xp. Even 20k slayer xp per hour (80k regular combat xp) is pushing it.. I would find 15k questionable as well.. but that's a possibility. Since your tasks are usually not training efficient monsters, I think you're lucky to even get 40-50k combat xp per hour on a slayer task (which means about 10k+ slayer xp per hour)
  18. If you do go to chaos tunnels, understand that praying is a MUST or you will be forced to bank within 15 minutes of arrival. The ones at Lighthouse (which requires a quest I believe - go to tip.it's bestiary and find dagannoths, and it'll tell you which) are much weaker... so I would really recommend them, unless you can afford the pray pots, and are hunting for red charms.
  19. Okay, RS is obviously a diverse game, where your focus can lay pretty much anywhere, from skilling to combat to quests to whatever. I thought it would be interesting to discuss what's the point of the game for you? What do you enjoy doing in the game? What aspect of the game do you think has the most value? Just keep in mind that I'm not asking why you play runescape and how you justify playing hours on end on silly little pixels. That's going off topic. Is it the: -quests? -combat? -clans? -skills? -pking? -money making? (i.e. all you care about is wealth) -making online friends? -others? Of course that's not an exhaustive list of what you can do, and you're not limited to one thing.. there's some very peculiar things people have focused on in the past in the game. I can't remember his name, but I remember a guy years ago, who would just collect cabbage. He even ended up making a clan for collecting cabbage, and he was pretty well known in RS and on these forums for it.. I think he ended up with millions of cabbage banked. Seems useless to us, but to him, it was something he enjoyed doing so it's all that matters. And this is a DISCUSSION, so please try to discuss your answers... don't just leave one or two sentence posts. -------------------------------------------------------- For me personally, I think the only useful skills are combat. I can tell you I will probably never have a 99 in a non-combat related skill (save maybe fishing, but that's because it has an indirect connection to combat), because I find them a waste of time frankly. I find that RS is combat based, and that combat should serve your every need. I think it's one of the best money making skill (whether through slayer or just monster hunting on your own) and definitely the most enjoyable. All the skills in the game require grinding obviously, but combat is the least predictable... e.g. you have a chance of dying and losing valuable items... the drops are always different, and that adds some sense of entertainment to grinding. You won't find that in any other skill - it's all the same end result. I also like PKing, although I haven't really pked much since I came back to the game cause I've been focussed on raising my skills... that's tied down to clans, which was my main focus in the game years ago. I will only do quests if they have good rewards or lead to quests with good rewards. Otherwise I won't waste my time doing them. Okay, now your turns.. go!
  20. Ores and bars can be fairly volatile. I don't know how you're merchanting air runes... especially cause the price of them is so stable.. From Jan 31st to May 13th, the price stayed at 13 gp. Air runes would not be the best thing to merchant with.
  21. Go to a mine (e.g. Lumbridge/Draynor mine); bring superheat runes. Mine coal, mith, and addy. Superheat into mith and addy bars. It's not the absolute best, but it is still decent.. good for f2p.. I would assume definitely more than a 100K per hour.
  22. Sorry but this thread is a complete fail. Most of the "confirmations" on drop rates here (and thus how effective the RoW is on certain monsters) disregard any and all statistical principles. Unless you people plan on killing a hundred thousand of a certain monster, with and without the RoW, don't bother with your theories on the RoW.
  23. No i have used Ring of wealth alot there, and i have gotten alot common rares. Where my record of Rune full helms being 6 of them in 1 task! So i will add that to list. Thanks for your help. I think you're wandering into questionable territory by adding that to your list. And sample of 90 is way TOO small to be considered a reliable statistic. You're going to have to go to the thousands of abb spectres killed to get an accurate estimate... for actual rares, maybe even a hundred thousand kills or more.
  24. Go to Yanille house portal in the House Party world.. There's always at least a couple of people who have their guilded altars open for people to use. You don't need your own marrentils. The owners of the POHs usually keep them lit. Bank in Yanille. Use the best familiar for BoB that you can. No need for teleporting.
  25. Yeah.. the g/e is absolutely amazing. I don't know how long it's been around for, but I don't know why it took jagex so long to release something like it.. it makes the gameplay so much easier. No longer do you have to waste time looking for buyers/sellers of an item.. it's pretty much instant now. And now, more than ever, you can just rely on one money making skill and still play the game efficiently and be rich.. before, that wasn't really the case. And it does make merchanting easier.. you can pretty much see the progression of the price of items.. it helps a lot. What I'm curious is how you merchanted your way from just 1.5mil to 15mil in two weeks. Starting with just 1.5mil seems like it would take forever.
