  1. Although controlled is the most efficient way of training (if your goal eventually is 99 99 99), I wouldn't recommend it. Why? It takes forever to level... and psychologically, if you're like me, you're going to need some motivation to keep going, and having to wait 1.5mil xp to level will just discourage you. However, if you can stay motivated, then go for it. 99 attack is a long way to go; make shorter goals like 95 attack first.. I'd bring your defence up a bit if I were you too.
  2. Umm you should definitely do combat.. Green drags (chaos tunnels) are 400-600k an hour. Rc'ing is really your only other viable option. If you raise your farming to 38; plant toadflax and limpwurt roots, you can make 70-100k per run (which takes about 10 minutes). Training slayer will make you money indirectly (off of drops, usually at the minimum of 50k per task). If you train hunter to say... 50, you will have made a million by then (swamp lizards require lvl 29, quick xp, good cash - 1216 each on g/e right now). Don't get discouraged though.. lvl 1-20 hunter is very slow but it picks up fast after that.
  3. The only reasons people say slayer is because 1. They have been morphed into slayerbots because thats how level 100+ players think the game should be played, so they listen.. 2. They actually think "If you're going to train, you may as well train 3 skills at once. Not just 2. Since you will one day say 'I need such and such slayer level!" heh. 3. It's just the smartest way to train. Says who? To me smartest is the fastest xp possible. Slayer is slow combat xp.. you can maximize your xp/hr by picking one monster and sticking to it (such as Azs)... I can't say that I care too much about my slayer lvl, or the stupid point system after Smoking Kills... there's no incentive for me to train slayer personally. It can be good however if you are bored of training at one place.
  4. Umm I was in edgeville dungeon ranging them yesterday.. quick and easy.. I don't know why you would have such problems with them; especially at 97 range.
  5. I don't see why not... just when the thieving part comes, pot up, and do what you need to do...
  6. Yes, it's 15% of your range lvl. You're at 84 range, so it will give you a =(84)(0.15) lvl boost, which is 12.6. So with the prayer, your range lvl would be 84+12.6 = ~97
  7. This depresses me greatly. lol it's just a one level boost! No big deal
  8. Specifically, why are there 8 different gravestones that have the same standing time and cost? What's the difference between them? Do they all pop up in the same spot (the spot where you died)? And the 500k one - the Angel of Death... Is the only difference between that one and its inferiors the extra minute added or...? Thanks.
  9. I guess you believe every propaganda from Jagex. The 5% range is price setting. Also, there is hardcoded floors and caps. If players set the prices, there would be no limits at all. Since there is complete anonymity of traders in GE, the limits are totally unnecessary. Real world trading requires direct player-to-player trading. Even if there was no limits in GE, it would not be possible to e.g. sell a party hat for 1 gp to a gold buyer. The seller would get the correct amount of gold and the buyer would get nothing. You might have noticed that if you sell an item for min price, you sometimes receive more money. That's because the system always picks the best available offer. The limits do not prevent players from losing too much money from price crashes, as the items will simply become unsellable until they reach the new equilibirium prices (or unbuyable in the case of skyrocketing). Dude, the prices are decided by the market, which is indirectly decided by the players.. you seem like a smart guy, so I don't think I have to explain simple economics to you. It is not fixed by Jagex. The 5% range is another story - it's there to prevent real world trading.. It's not hard for someone to find someone random obscure item that no one buys, and have someone buy it for millions.. and no it would not be possible to sell a phat for 1 gp if there were no range limits, but like I said, it wouldn't be hard to find and test some random item to see if someone is actually buying it.. once found, real world trades could be conducted easily. And real world trading does not require direct person-to-person trading. Think financial intermediaries (e.g. banks) or... the stock exchange? The g/e market price IS the exact market price. It is ALWAYS in equilibrium... notice sometimes when you buy an item for the MARKET PRICE before the prices are updated - you won't be able to buy it. That means that the equilibrium price has shifted up, and you will witness that in the next g/e price update. The ranges follow the market price.. you seem to be implying that the price of 300M that the blue phat is, that Jagex somehow fixed.. you are completely wrong there. To conclude, the g/e is amazing.. It makes the economy run so much smoother.. sure the range limit might be annoying, but it's there for a reason. I'll live with it. I don't know how long the g/e has been around, as I've been away for four years, but if you've played the game before the g/e, you'll realize how efficient the economy now is as compared to then.
  10. I wish people would stop posting threads asking if prices are going to fall or rise. We can't exactly see into the future.. No one has a clue. There have been price increases in weapons due to the +1 bounty worlds, so demand is rising.. how long that is sustained, I have no clue.. but yeah, don't be cheap.. I remember when whips first came out and they were up to 50M (heck, I don't remember, maybe even more).. I had to wait a while to just buy one for 15M. So, 2M is nothing.. especially if you have 7M now.. and think of the whip as an investment, because you'll be making faster money with it (through slayer or just any other combat) than with a drag weapon. Go for it.
  11. Is there scarcity of items (i.e. no unlimited amount of items) in Runescape? Yes. Are there people playing the game? Yes. There's your economy. I would equate the g/e to the stock exchange. The g/e (Jagex) does not set the prices. It's the market that does - supply and demand. i.e. the players set the prices. So no it would not be illegal.
  12. So you're proposing a start to communism in Runescape? Now that would be one messed up, inefficient market. Edit: I would love to see that.. It would pretty much be chaos in RS.. the game would sink so fast.
  13. Well that big recent jump in prices is due to merchanting clans manipulating prices to make money.. In the real world, that would be considered illegal.. In Runescape, not yet.. as Jagex hasn't found a way to control it.
  14. Macaw is good for herb dropper monsters. It improves your herb drops (higher level herbs).
  15. if jagex didn't do it explain me why in 180 days it didn't get below 384gp but only above it? it only makes sence that it can't get lower then a point. Oh you're talking about the min and max price. I was talking about the market price. Yes, it looks like Jagex sets the min and max price.. I don't know why they do it.. and what formula they use to do it with.
  16. I understood that, but why did jagex do that? what is the point? now it doesn't sell at all because no one ever buys except low levels and f2p It's not Jagex. It's the market. If no one is buying or selling (or one side of the equation is missing), the price will stay the same - frozen (flat horizontal line if you look at the graphs). There is some volatility for maple longs (it's not perfectly flat), but because the changes are so small in the price (due to very low demand), you might be able to sell them but it will take a while.. definitely not in a day.. maybe in a week or two if you're lucky I'm guessing.
  17. Do NOT do Dags at Chaos Tunnels. It's usually empty, so all the dags will be attacking you.. and unlike the ones in the horror from the deep dungeon, all of these attack with range (and they're much higher lvl dags as well). They'll eat up your food so fast, you'll have to bank after 15-20 minutes. NOT worth it at all. Go to lighthouse for sure!!!
  18. You'll be fine. Just bring food. And yeah, protect from melee, and have him mage you - it's a lot easier.
  19. Do Hunter until chins.. stick with black lizards.. they're pretty fast xp and they sell for nearly 900 each.. so very good cash for someone like you.
  20. I'm pretty sure all monsters in the Chaos tunnels have increased charm drop rates (I'm not saying that all of them do drop charms, but the ones that do have an increased rate). Avoid dags unless you're willing to pray... They'll eat up your food so fast. It's not worth it. You might as well go to waterfiends if you are going to pray. Knowing your stats would be helpful...
  21. Go to world 31 (House Parties world), Yanille, if you want people to use your house.. You'll get a lot more people using it than on some random world!
  22. Why are you spending 2mil on range if you are only going from 67-70? What a waste of cash.. Forget the equipment.. Get the minimum best you can get (forget about ranger boots, robin hood hat, or anything expensive).. don't worry about unholy books if you haven't done the quest.. if you start ranging right away, you'll get to 70 before doing the quest and getting the book and then using that to range. It's only minimal help. Make it simple: -accumulator -archers ringer (I would personally use a ring of wealth, but it depends on what I'm training on) -glory/fury ammy -red dhide -archer helmet/black dhide coif Now get out there and train!
  23. About 400.. Well I just did it and got 51 hunting.. figured I might as well, as I do need it for defenders of varrock, and for this quest. It's really a hassle acquiring raw bird meat on g/e as no one sells it.
  24. If you collect the seconds you should be fine with breaking even or making a little profit. You just gotta find the seconds that are easy to collect and focus on that/those pot(s)... e.g. probably won't apply to you because strength potions aren't the best xp at your lvl, but for example you would avoid strength pots, as acquiring limpwurts is a pain (monster drops or farming them). And if you are going to kill monsters to collect herbs, then I highly recommend summoning a Macaw (lvl 41).. they improve your herb drops.. and if you happen to be getting herbs that you can't use, sell them off and buy herbs you can make pots with.
  25. Strength potions are expensive if you are worried about costs (limpwurts are 1k+ each).. so if you're going to 25, it'll cost you approximately 100k for just the seconds. I would recommend attack potions... sure it's half the xp, but it's not like it'll take a while to go from 16-25, but it's also much cheaper... better for cost per xp. Edit: and ya who cares about speed? It'll take you literally 5 minutes to go from 16-25 once you have everything ready (vials, herbs, and seconds).
