  1. I think you'd have much better luck asking in the graveyard. =)
  2. What is this "obby sword"... tried searching "obsidian sword" in the items database but came up with nothing. But ss > rune scim+def for sure.
  3. Wow you people sure know how to spam.. the "no discussion value" posts in here, that is. If you don't want to discuss it, then don't post, and let it fall off the first page.. Quit spamming. I still use restore energy pots.. I can be pretty impatient sometimes, so I hate resting.. I always bring a few during treasure trails, so it's definitely a plus.
  4. Uhhhh no way do Azs drop 20 blues/hour... More like 5 blue charms/hr.
  5. I'm not interested in cannoning... I do slayer for combat xp and not really for slayer xp (second priority).. so not interested in spending tons of money on cannon/cannonballs unless I can make it back in drops.. which I can't with black demons. So NO, Duradel is not efficient and effective for me. I'm not denying that it gives some amazing tasks.. of course it does, but there are some drawbacks to it - e.g. black demons.. extremely slow and boring. And yes, Duradel does give terror dogs.. I just got them the other day and had to cancel them. But to the OP, it doesn't hurt to try both.. maybe you'll luck out with your tasks.. I just seem to have been having bad luck with mine lately. Oh ya? Who proved it? Yes it does; from experience, a task with Duradel is usually around 15k xp; sometimes more.. Sumona is usually around 10k.. you do the math. I just know in the time it took me to finish black demons (which I constantly got bored of doing and logged out of RS cause of it), I could have finished a handful of tasks at other slayer masters.. so even if it is faster xp/hour.. that means nothing to me, cause it completely discouraged me from going on. Anyways, that's all I gotta say about it.. but OP, it won't hurt to try Duradel out.. go for it.
  6. Yes, Duradel does give tasks with the best xp/task, but it doesn't necessarily mean that he's the best one to go to. I'm 120 combat, and I'm going back to Sumona... I think I did about 10 or so tasks with Duradel and had enough of it.. e.g. black demons - take forever. Terror dogs - no way in hell I'm going back to Tarn's Lair. And others. So really, just try both of them.. I wouldn't recommend you go to Duradel, but that's just me.. some of his tasks are awesome in that they give a lot of xp, but some just plain suck, and take forever.. which means it's really an inefficient and ineffective way to get xp (more xp/task isn't necessarily better.. especially if that task will take forever, in which you could have finished two or three tasks at another slayer master and gotten more xp).
  7. Thanks.. yeah I just looked at the charms/zeal and it is a complete rip off.. Thought it would be better. I understand the whole game now.. I just always end up on the losing team which is getting irritating -_-
  8. Okay, I just tried Soul Wars for the first time today, so I have some newbie questions. QUESTION 1: On the tip.it guide, it says "Your enemies, however, may bury the bones of their counterparts. Each time this is done, their team's Avatar has a chance of going up in Slayer requirement. This has to be done in a Graveyard controlled by their team, and doing so will also restore a large chunk of prayer." It's seems a little vague. So can someone explain HOW you make your team's avatar rise in level? Am I understanding it right? Kill the other team, collect their bones and come back to your graveyard and bury the bones? QUESTION 2: Regarding rewards, does anyone use the zeal for charms? It seems like a good deal, but I'm guessing waterfiends or even dust devils would be better for charms than the zeal used in SW? I'm conflicted whether to use it on attack/str xp or charms... Thanks.
  9. This will be true until the inevitable correction, at which point they will be buyable on the GE again. What correction? huh?
  10. I don't think people understand what I'm really touching at here. I'm not debating whether playing RS or not is useless. I believe just as long as you have fun, there is a point to it! I do find RS enjoyable.. so I don't find the game pointless. I find certain aspects of the game pointless. Because combat is the most efficient way to build your character, I find other "moneymaker" skills useless.. or if you don't like combat, and have another moneymaker, that still makes the rest of the skills useless.. because all you need is one or two skills to play the game efficiently and effectively. So my problem is that huge portions of the game have turned out to be useless; in the sense that they are too costly, with no added benefit for training the certain skills. So the game seems to have a million things to do in it, but really, when you think about it, it's kind of small.. I don't find it fun to do things that are costly to my character, which include most of the skills in the game. It's just not smart!
  11. I understand that.. but for me, it's not exactly fun grinding skills that will not help me in anyway during the game. And I don't care much for total skill level. I look at the game from an economic perspective. If it's costly to train some skills, I won't do it (unless it's for a quest req).. I'd rather have a few extra million xp in my bank to use on skills that I actually care about (e.g. summoning and prayer are costly), than to use it on a skill that I'll probably never use for added benefit again (like I said, my moneymaker is combat). My highest non-combat skill is.. fishing, lvl 81.. I've only taken it up one level since I came back to the game a few months ago. With the g/e, there's no point anymore. As buying monks/sharks from the g/e is less costlier for me than actually fishing them on my own. So really, I'm finding it hard to motivate myself to train any skill but combat, which kind of sucks. Well actually, specialization is a real-world thing.. It just completely defeats the purpose of all these skills in runescape.. which is a negative we got with the g/e.
  12. Can anyone tell me what the point of training most skills is nowadays? Besides the quest reqs, which really only take most skills up to 60... is there a point at going beyond? With the introduction of the g/e, specialization has become the key. You only need one money maker skill (maybe two; can get boring sticking with only one skill for money) to sustain your character and become rich. Why? Because it's so easy to transfer your items into cash nowadays, and to acquire any item you need through the g/e. Before.. let's say if you were doing a quest.. you would have to gather the items yourself (e.g. make a mithril bar).. because there was no efficient way of trading. Going to world 2 and trying to get that single mith bar would take forever (most people sell in bulk), and the hassle wouldn't be worth it. So you needed smithing back then. But now, you really don't.. you go to the g/e, and buy that mith bar within seconds. So, there is NO point in training other skills past the 60ish quest-req-mark. In fact, doing so is economically efficient, and more costly to you!.. unless you like to take your total skill level.. but again, it is inefficient looking at it from an economic viewpoint. I think herblore is a cool skill... and I've really been meaning to take it up from my lousy lvl 52, but really, there's no point. The herbs cost more than the potions, so even if you were gathering the herbs yourself, it would be more profitable to just sell them off... and again, the point of a higher herblore lvl is? If I can just go to the g/e and buy the pots I need instantly.. there really is no point. And looking at it from an even broader perspective, why waste time training herblore when I can focus on one of my moneymakers and make money that way? Turns out that training the skill is just way too costly (not just talking in gp terms, but thinking very much of opportunity cost). So that's one example of a useless skill.. combat seems to be the best money maker (e.g. Avansies, green dragons, boss hunting etc.) and if you stick to killing higher lvl monsters, it will always make you the most money... so really, I've got my money maker skill, and I cant motivate myself to train the other useless skills out there. Anyone else feel the same way?
  13. Like so many others have said, they are not overpriced. The market maintains efficiency... that's the price they should be, where supply meets demand. While phats will have minor fluctuations in price like any other item, in the long term, they will ALWAYS be increasing. Why? Supply is always dropping, and demand is always either constant or increasing. And AFAIK, you won't have much luck buying a phat on the g/e.. the street value price is a lot higher.
  14. Fire giants are a lot better for gold charms. Keep in mind that for monsters that do drop charms, their drop rate of charms are increased in the chaos tunnels. Avoid hunting for green as they're the most expensive per xp. I would also recommend slayer.. it really gets boring just killing one monster for charms all the time.
  15. Way too many mod wannabees in this topic. Is it that big a deal that he posted it here? Seriously.. let the mods do their work.. there's no point in making the "doesn't belong here" comments cause neither you or the original poster can do anything about it now. I don't understand why people hate Kalphites.. Kalphite soldiers are pretty good, minus the annoying poison. Very good combat xp, and they tend to drop a few blue charms a trip.
  16. I'm not going to call myself an expert in economics, but I will say I'm very knowledgeable in the subject (I'm finishing up my degree in it this year). No one can tell you for sure what's going to happen. We don't have any hard, raw data... all we can do is speculate. Here's what we can assume safely... knowing that the number of players will drop once school starts: -Supply will drop -Demand will drop -quantity of raw materials in the game WILL drop What we do not know: -whether the price will drop If the drop in supply (e.g. fewer miners to mine coal) is larger than the drop in demand (e.g. fewer smithers to buy the coal), the price of raw materials (e.g. coal in this case) will RISE. If the drop in demand is larger than the drop in supply, the price of raw materials will DROP. Or, the prices might not change at all... if the drops in demand and supply are roughly equal. So again, no one knows what's going to happen... like I said, we can only speculate. It will be interesting to see what happens, that's for sure!
  17. For every 1 point of damage on a monster: 1 slayer xp 1.33 hp xp 4 specific combat skill xp (or 1.33 on controlled) I don't know what monsters people are talking about which don't follow this scale.. I don't think there are any...
  18. Are you guys saying this from personal experience, or is this confirmed by Jagex?
  19. 1) Go to world 31: House Party World 2) Go to Yanille bank; withdraw bones (optional and certainly not necessary: Spirit terrorbird, war tortoise or any other BoB carrier) 3) Run over to the house portal in West Yanille 4) There should be people standing around by the portal; and you'll notice a lot running from the bank to portal and back. Ask who has a guilded altar. 5) Go into their house and go to the guiltar altar 6) Use a bone on the altar (becareful not to bury it), and select "Offer all" 7) Leave house and bank 8) Repeat. It takes about 2-4 minutes per trip.. never timed it exactly but its quick. NOTE: when you go to the altar, make sure that the burners standing on the sides of the altar are lit!! (they require 2 marrentils and a tinderbox to light). If they're lit, you make more xp than if they're not. You'll know if they're lit because if they are, you won't see a "light" option when you right click them, and you'll see smoke coming out of them. Keep in mind that the owner of the house (or someone random) stands around and lights them (so you don't have to worry about it), but sometimes they're too slow, and you might offer a bone or two on an unlit altar. That's why I always keep an eye on the burner.. if it goes out, I click away from the altar until the person lights them again. So since it's bound to happen, get an extra 10 or so dragon bones than you require so you don't have to come back. To go from 53-60 will take you less than an hour for sure.. so it's pretty fast.. do NOT go the ecto way.. way too slow!!
  20. Awful? Maybe. Budget? Very. Actually.. by making your own ammo, it's more costly. The opportunity cost is way too large. It's completely inefficient. I'll use this as a simple example. Why not just kill greens for an hour and make 400-500k? Then buy your ammo.. Instead of wasting an hour to make... I don't know how many, but probably less than 100k worth of arrows. SPECIALIZATION is the key people. Do whatever makes you the best money. I could understand making your own ammo before the grand exchange, as it was harder to find buyers/sellers, but not now.. it's just stupid.
  21. Yeah.. it's in their inbox.. they just haven't looked at it. When they open it, you'll see the message in your sentbox.
  22. At current dbone prices, it would cost you 1.7M to get to 60 with a guilded altar. (About 545 dragon bones required) Don't have one? Go to the house party world; yanille portal; and find someone who'll let you use theirs (literally takes a few seconds to find a house; usually someones advertising, and if not, just ask and you should get a quick reply). If you want to sacrifice speed to save some money.. with big bones, it'll cost you 1.2M (2,613 big bones). I wouldn't go that route to save a little money.. not worth it. You can get 60 prayer in less than an hour with dbones. It would take 5x longer with big bones.
  23. RS did have races for a time.. although there wasn't much to them.. just a bit of minor help in the beginning. I think what Jagex wants is to have characters which wouldn't be limited by the choice of their race, which is why races were scrapped (and you're not bringing anything new to their attention.. they've probably beat this topic to death themselves).. so completely versatile characters, and I personally like it that way too. I don't want to have to choose a race for my character with a focus on a certain combat type, without being able to use another.. but it all depends on the type of system you are suggesting.
  24. You need to think economically (your method lacks economic efficiency). It's called specialization. Use a skill that makes you the most money, whether it be hunting, killing green dragons or avansies, fishing.. it doesn't matter. By hunting for something as basic as law runes, you are inferring a huge opportunity cost... because that time spent getting a measley 50 laws per hour or whatever (which would be about 15k), you could have made much more money through specialization - using a skill/method you're good at. Wouldn't you rather kill green dragons and make 400-500k an hour; use some of that money to buy the laws, than just get the 50 laws, and some other random drops maybe totalling to 50k an hour? I think the answer is clear. So do NOT kill monsters for law runes.. it's just silly and defies any common sense.
