  1. cheaper in repair costs. However, you can make cash by using the bow. You cannot make cash by using the shield. If you range blue dragons, the hides and bones can easily pay for the repair costs. Once the recharges are only 180k, the bow is viable for any kind of training.
  2. never pked in p2p, sometimes in f2p, but that has to be at least 1 year ago.
  3. ranged got some massive updates a couple of months age and is not underpowered. And if anything mage is underpowered at the moment. Even melee can easily bet them, when they shouldn't stand a chance. However, one other thing you have to remember is that melee is by far the most popular class in RS. So, the chances are that will will encounter many melee players in wildy and ranged has a natural disadvantage towards them. Also, since mage is so weak atm, not many wizards are pking, giving little targets to rangers.
  4. i can really recommend to do money madness, but if you really don't want to: how about: d long with d battle axe spec and restore pot ;)
  5. You make some incorrect assumptions in your calculations. Let me point them out: 1) 1k shots= 40 minutes (25 shots per minute). You can't maintain this rate of fire constantly. Sometimes there is no monster to attack, sometimes you have lag, sometimes you are not paying attention. 2) Hits with 75 ranged w/o pots + 2/10 c bow = 9 (max is about 15). If your max hit is 15, then how on earth do you get an average damage of 9? If, and I really mean if you hit, the damage is distributed equally between 1 and your max (which is 15). So, suppose you hit 100% of the time, your average damage will be ~8. However, it's more realistic to aasume that you hit 75% of the time with an average damage of 8. This gives you an average damage per shot of 0.75*8 = 6. So instead of an average damage per shot of 9, it's only around 6.
  6. Rune 2hander has a -4 stab bonus. How can a big sharp pointy sword have an equal negative stab bonus as a blunt warhammer?
  7. No way! Jagex are real people and actually need breaks!? You don't know how the updates are effected by holiday times. Most likely that the staff gets around 5 weeks of holiday each year. You hardly ever see that return in the amount of updates in the BTS. I don't know what is going to happen at the end of this month, but I do see a gap in time opening up...
  8. It's not about the definition of the word pure. The intention of pkers is to control their combat lvl, basically to keep it as low as possible. A pure is a char with an intended low defense lvl. "Pure" is just a name for that kind of character. "hybrid" is a name too. A hybrid is capable of effectively using more than 1 method of attack. A hybrid is usually also a pure, in the sense that it has an intended low defense lvl. For characters with an intended high lvl defence, usually the term "tank" is used. What combines all these characters is that the def and prayer skills are trained to certain predetermined lvls and thereby to have some control of the combat lvl. Pures in the sense that the char has only 1 type of attack are not used often, since you can raise the other 2 attack methods to certain lvls without influencing your combat lvl.
  9. Hmmm, care to tell us why you are so frustrated? I agree with you, but luckily it is your choice to farcast or not :) So, why the frustration?
  10. You won't need the shield for the babies. But to reach the babies you have to run past the parents and there you better equip the shield. So do bring it ;)
  11. 1. It IS his business what your levels are. If it wasn't, there wouldn't be any highscores. 2. It does make you look stuck up when you wont take a second to type 2 numbers and his enter. OT:I actually answer peoples questions and don't ignore them so they're never angry at me. Are you for real? 2 players, p1 and p2. 1. P1's stats are P1's business, P2's stats are P2's business. If P2 wants to fight P1 and therefore wants some info beforehand, he could ask P1 for his stats, nicely. By no means does it ever justify one player demanding the other to tell their stats. And if P2 really really needs to know P1's stats, he should be happy that he can look them up or use the lunar scan spell. 2. It has nothing to do with the troubles of ticking in the number. It's about respect and dignity. Respect is something that the lvl86 didn't show and dignity is lost if you should answer the rude question.
  12. Well, an interesting guide, but I just don't see the point of it. Firstly, you only need to degrade the shield 4 times to get it to it's cheapest recharge. So the price difference is 420k. As ooielandr stated, you are using shark the help speed up the degrading process and that costs you 86k in food each degradation for a total saving of only 74k. Each degradation takes 20 minutes for a total time of 80 minutes. So you save 74k in 80 minutes, which comes down to 55.5k per hour. So, if you make more than 55.5k cash per hour it's cheaper to get the bow. Now, assuming that you use very cheap food and that the time to degrade isn't influenced by that a lot, we can say that you could save 420k in 80 minutes. That makes for 315k per hour. So if you can make more than 315k an hour, it's cheaper to get the bow. That income is possible by runecrafting nats. However, food isn't free and poorer food will lead to longer degradation time. Finally, as mentioned by death_dude74, you can actually make money while degrading the bow. It's a well written, original guide, but I just don't see its use.
  13. This was in the first post and pretty clear explained in the bts. Each Unidentified Herb will Become an Unclean herb (since you said rannar lets use that as example) Instead of "Unid Herb" you have "Unclean Rannar" Instead of "Id Herb" option you have "clean herb" option Cleaning is replacing Iding. Levels for Iding will become levels for cleaning. It is an anti scam update so when you buy unid/unclean herbs you can no longer be scammed by someone selling "high unids 5k ea" that are actually Unid Guams Then what is the point of getting an unclean herb? If you know what it is, then why not get the cleaned herb in the first place? Just add the ID exp to the making of pots. It's not that I don't believe you, I'm just wondering what the point is of getting unclean herbs. I seems like 1 additional click without any purpose.
  14. Can you give of the costs of unnoting ores? How expensive is it when the stock is full and how much is it when the stock is empty. This information is really helpful for staying there a long time.
  15. An altar where you get more exp per rune crafted, but you need a higher lvl than normal to craft. For instance you'll need lvl 70 rc to craft nats but you get double exp. something like that.
  16. Their price is very dependent on the store stock. They start at 60 ea. It's annoying to buy them for that price in bulk. Crystal bow is probably better.
  17. Ow man, it actually looks cute. btw, the dog has more facial expression than your character! lol
  18. I'm not sure that melee is back on top, but it is very obvious that melee is favoured all the time, in everything. Melee has by far the most equipment options and also gets by far the most updates. Just look at the new god wars dungeon or the recent released new prayers. Magic gets a new magic staff, range a new armour set and melee a new armour set and 2 new weapons. Then there is the weird situation that melee has 2 skills to lvl and the other two combat methods only one. A maxed out ranger and mage are combat lvl 109-110. THis gives an interesting problem: a lvl 126 should be able to beat a lvl 110. However, should a maxed out warrior (combat 126) be able to defeat a maxed out mage (combat 110)? That would really make the pk triangle obsolete. Lastly, some months age Jagex has a poll about your favorite combat style. Melee won that poll by far and is officially the most popular combat method. However, is it that players really prefer to be warrior/knight in this game? Or could it be that the other 2 methods are so limited in power or hard to train that players by lack of better choose melee? I can't give answers to those kind of questions, but I do know that some work needs to be done to the combat system to make it really balanced.
  19. This is an amazing thread. Unfortunately not because of the intended subject. Half of the people don't even read his entire topic I don;t even want to know how few read the responses of others... How can you possibly expect of decent discussion with this kind of behavior?
  20. nice interview! wow, that f2p bank space is tiny. I'm impressed by his law collection, however I'm also amazed he hasn't got any god armour or trimmed sets.
  21. The helmet looks weird  +1 the armour is great, but give me the robin hood hat over that bird's head any day.
  22. NOoooo, you can only hit ok if you have maxed out strength bonusses! Only strenght is important!!! . . . . . . . . . . . Now seriously. What do you mean by hitting ok? You still have a huge strength bonus and you also have a huge attack bonus. So, what's the problem?
  23. Your idea makes sense, however it only works for melee attacks. For rangers all power and accuracy comes from the ranged skill. You would then have both defense and resilience trying to counteract the ranged skill, that is too much. Even worse is it for magic. Their damage is not that skill dependent.
  24. very recognizable! :D Although, sometimes I try to stretch that a bit :P
  25. Well, that is something new. I'm gonna keep my robin for sure though
