I'll update the blog title to give people a chance to skedaddle into my cc if you want to come, it won't be a big party though and it will be exactly when I say it is, no waiting for people. :P

New Age of Monster Hunting
I solo sara because it's pro and tds because it's easy. Dag kings solo is just boring and bandos you have to find a world and not get crashed. Arma is scary. :(

14-Jun-2010 - Castle Wars Kill Streak Competition Result
It's a nice idea but they probably did this to get extra memberships to promote new content, and also they don't want to encourage people to play all day. There would be less skill involved in that than anything that could conceivably have to do with castle wars. 'how long can you run back and forth at zmi without going insane'

Thanks :) Now school's out so I'll probably be scaping pretty regularly except when I go on vacation. I got 99 summoning about a year after it came out I think. Basically I bursted/barraged 88-99 magic at rock lobsters, then I did 88-95 slayer and boom 99 summoning. So one day I was in #aod and a friend talked about barrows. I was like hey that sounds fun, I want to do it with a staff of light though so I slayed for like 400k xp, got one wyrm task which did not yield a sol. :( So I bought one, but kept slaying. I got a dag task, and so did Daygon and Simon so we went to DKs. First trip was duo and we got crashed, the kill were split about evenly but simon banked his crossbow so we had to leave. :P We also got an axe but I missed the pic somehow, was 918k split. The next day we went with Daygon and had to deal with a leech at first but he left and that was all. Pretty good profits. I've been up to a bit of skilling too, and the slayer yielded some profit of its own. ^ wasnt a double drop, just strange timing that was a double drop also got 87 edit: b t dubs I'm going for 99 craft, I'll buy battlestaffs market price from anyone who cares to assist :P they will usually buy for a bit below that on the GE so you could make some profits potentially

Tip.It Times - 13th June 2010
With regard to Vanity Fair, my understanding is most people buying royal are merchants who want to trade it for rares they can rwt. Question resolved :P As to aesthetics in general though, I would personally never spend money on it. If I'm killing things I obviously wear whatever is best, and the same is true of any other activity. If it truly doesn't matter I'll usually wear my slayer cape/helm with agility armor because it all matches, all is somewhat impressive, and all is free.

Picking up greens and golds
You don't lose any time picking up charms. And even if you did the XP you gain is definitely worth the time spent. Xp gain past 99? Don't see why you would care about that unless you're maxed or something. I find the amount of 99 summoners that still pick up all charms surprisingly large, I did that for a few days after 99 but then I was like nah it's pretty useless anyway, can't be bothered to do it anymore. Summoning is still one of the easier skills to get impressively ranked in, which is why I currently pick everything up. No lies I haven't actually used any greens or golds in a very long time though. They make a nice collection in the meantime. Many people with 99 summoning are also maxed combat, so if you're training at all, you probably do care somewhat about xp after 99, or you were lazy and didn't max slayer early enough. :P My reasoning in picking up every charm is that I value summoning experience, and it really can be done with minimal time wastage. Kill something, attack the next, after each attack move a few steps towards the drop and you'll have it in no time. It's a bit tedious, but since RS is tedious it doesn't strike me as too unreasonable.

The death of making money by skilling.
Part of the problem is that Jagex has been trying to release new and powerful weapons/armor, necessitating stronger bosses and therefore newer better drops, so more profit. Nothing analogous has happened with skilling in a big way. You could argue that extreme potions made farming and hunter considerably more profitable though. As a whole though, there just isn't the same demand for most products of skilling. The fact that skilling is very easy means there is probably a larger supply as well.

Picking up greens and golds
I just made this topic because I've been wondering recently if my policy of always pick up every charm is really in my best interest. I've always done it because gathering charms is just so slow and painful in general that it seems like a waste to not grab the xp since it really doesn't take much extra time (in fact, none if you time it properly). Blue charms are 783.2 xp each, allowing 1.72m xp/hour when training. Each pouch represents a loss of 8,727 gp, making blues 11.14 gp/xp Crimson charms are 422.4 xp each, allowing 929.2k xp/hr. Each pouch is a loss of 1803 gp, making crimsons 4.3 gp/xp Green charms are 154.4 xp each, allowing 335.2k xp/hr. Each pouch is a loss of 2206 gp, making greens 14.3 gp/xp Gold charms are 87 xp each, 191.4k xp/hr. Loss of 220 per pouch, so 2.5 gp/xp. I'd say this implies that greens are [cabbage]ty, but to be truly scientific, one should analyze the opportunity cost of training with the charm types (presumably balanced against gathering charms while slaying). Sadly the easiest way for me to get this information has been polluted by the fact that I gained a few million summoning xp on super xp weekend, but I'm not sure exactly how much or at what bonus so I can't calculate slayer xp vs summoning xp gained slaying, and so I can't do average summoning xp/hour. If anyone else knows what their summoning xp was (if at or above lvl 96) when they got 99 slayer, or slayer xp when they got 99 summoning, that would be tremendously helpful (of course, you will also need to know how much xp was gained at what average bonus on bonus xp weekend). But anyways, what's all of your opinions about using greens and golds, and why? All of this is assuming 99 summoning in case anyone didn't catch that btw lols, but don't let that stop you from contributing. idk if this is a questionnaire but i think there is some discussion merit

Congratz! You have failed basic economics! Your prize is one facepalm from me. Yeah, all this does is allow the money to change hands, since none is being taken out. well actually since it increases demand, it will cause prices to rise, which is um, inflation =p

Double Exp Weekend(s)
letting people do that with summoning was very stupid... the fact that gathering charms takes so long made double summoning xp ridiculously overpowered. I think I read somewhere that if they do it again it will only be for non-consumption skills. I greatly hope that is the case.

I love how wrong you are  L2 Overload/arcanestream/sol/chaoticstaff Chaotic staff = 50+ with barrage ftw? SOL is like 48 max or something Obviously you are underestimating magic. I actually agree with Bobthesock. There will be tons of mages in maxed gear, but there's also going to be tons of people who just want to piss those mages off. No mage can withstand a barrage of dragon arrows and seercull shots, of which there will be a LOT of. I know I'm going to be doing that. I heard people will prepare for that Seercull is fail when you can restore pot or have on tank mage gear. Dbows... When you manage to get multiple people to spec at the same time maybe. But if not the mage will just heal the damage. The reward WILL go to a mage. No other combat type has the potential for large amounts of kills like magic. Magic has the potential, but only if you get a clan of sheep to stand around and let you barrage them. Let's say our mage will be hitting 50s max. That means 25s average, and 13s when you take into account the fact that everyone in the area will be praying against magic. that is assuming that every attack hits, which it will not because most people will also bring magic defense. omg the power is overwhelming. my point is that the current strategy of finding a huge crowd and barraging it ad infinitum isn't going to work. the people who get hundreds of kills currently just camp at the flags and barrage the massive crowds gathered there to try and kill them, which is obviously not going to happen this weekend because everyone will be going for kills, and therefore will not bother with tank mages who are decidedly the hardest thing ever to kill. the magic strategy requires intensely concentrated crowds, whereas this will probably be a massive, spread out brawl.

I agree that basing it off of killing was a strange idea, but whatever. Killing is a large part of the game, after all. Probably the largest. I don't understand Danq's point that apparently only true CW players enjoy signed art though. ("The regular cw players who would appreciate signed art are not going to be able to compete with players coming in just to win the membership.") What about the poor non CWers who want art who will be hopelessly pitted against CW players who are in it for the membership? Of course a CW player getting CW art would be appropriate, but so is a runescape player getting runescape art. Also, everyone is definitely overestimating magic. It's effective in regular games because your average participant doesn't care much about dying or getting kills, he's doing CW for the fun. This weekend, I anticipate that the majority of people playing in CW worlds will have different interests in mind, and therefore will not stand around mindlessly to be blood barraged. Magic is effective for not dying, but you really can't KO anything that cares with just magic unless that anything is out of food.

I'm not sure I agree with the consensus of "richtankmagespendgpfreeP2P". Tank magers are quite difficult to kill, but how many kills will they really be able to force on a weekend where almost everyone will be actively avoiding death, and seeking out reasonable targets to kill? I've fought them before, standing by the flag blood barraging constantly. Praying magic, I was able to attack for five minutes before I ran low on bandages. By then I was bored, and decided to play elsewhere. That was before arcane stream/extreme pots/sol of course. But I can say with confidence that there's going to be more to this than just tank maging. The definition of a tank (in scape anyways) is a defensively oriented character... at the expense of offense, which is definitely necessary here. If a whole clan is willing to sacrifice itself, that might make a winner, but idk if that would really happen. I, for one, an curious about catapults and ballistas.

27-May-10 Castle wars improvements
Unique? It was the generic platebody/legs/med helm/kite model with a blue and yellow color scheme. The new armor has "unique" models, and the same color scheme, so I really don't understand the complaint. They took an outdated minigame that some people liked because hardly anyone played it, and updated it, making it more popular in the process. It just strikes me as greedy to get upset about that. On another note, now that catapults have NO friendly fire, doesn't Jagex need to redo catapult construction's reward, since it was the removal of friendly fire?

it's not logical because if jagex had just released the update next week, there would have been no complaints. but there have just been so many no update weeks recently that small things can be discouraging.

I fail
53.7k xp/hr not as good as those maxed people, but I don't sit around doing nothing. If I want to have fun chilling and talking to people I usually don't go to runescape to do it

Monkey Madness musing
Monkey madness took me like 8 hours lol. I felt very accomplished when I finally beat the demon. I guess that any master quest done at a low level would be difficult, but I think that it was a pretty good, enjoyable quest to do.

13-May-2010 Fairy Tale Part 3 & DirectX Support and Graphics Options
do you perhaps mean liberal [compared to my own political views] slant in a liberal [compared to my own political views] slant country? The only reason environmentalism is associated with the left is because the right has been in bed with big corporations that care about nothing but their own profits for so long. Jagex has said absolutely nothing about the redistribution of wealth or the worker's revolution or anything else that you seem to be afraid of. Your only argument that they are liberal is that they took a stand against air pollution.

well that's exactly the point; it wasn't a stellar series so there's no reason for it to have a stellar conclusion. with the exception of dungeoneering it's really the only decent update we've had in 2 months though. it was a quest, and you actually did stuff. the reward wasn't stunning but I'm happy enough with it. never worrying about forgetting my staff again, and never having to take the time glory back to edgeville to get it, is going to be wonderful.

1. I think you mean '<15 minutes' 2. If that is what you mean, I would like to have my dungeoneering skillcape in <15 minutes too, you should make a guide about that! (according to wiki: "a skill that was released in RuneScape on 12 April 2010" = 5 weeks ago) 1. I mean >15 minutes 2. Dungeoneering and FTP3 are the only updates of any note we have gotten in the mentioned 7 week period (dungeoneering, as you stated having been released 5 weeks ago, would indeed fall within this period as I said). All the others were completely forgettable, when we got one at all. since the start of april, we have gotten: -Dungeoneering (I approve) -Slayer challenges (this didn't change the game for most people who train slayer as they use kuradal, and for everyone else it presents only a slight, occasional deviation from the way things are done) -Buyers and Cellars (10 minute quest with the option of doing some more one-time 10 minute quests for a trifling amount of xp) -FTP3 (it was good, but honestly it wasn't even a master quest. the only reason people were even excited was because whenever jagex finishes a questline is a landmark occasion) I try to avoid hating on Jagex, and I certainly wouldn't want them to compromise quality to meet a deadline, but honestly the quality and quantity of updates has been dropping recently.
