Perhaps they think that the effort to move to another country is not worth it and that putting up with the problems of the one they're in would be less effort. NOW I CAN FINALLY HAVE SEX!". If someone had that mentality then they would have had sex long before. I am surprised your parents didn't put you in a special school if you think you can 'gaurentee' (I assume you mean guarantee - your parents should have taught you better spelling) they will have sex that night.

I don't think he meant that that can't be done as well. I'd like to clarify my position; whilst I am against promoting abstinence I am most certainly not promoting promiscuity or sex without thought. I think that what you have said in the above quote is a very important thing to do.

This is a site filled with teenagers who are still wet behind the ears, have had no experience in the real world and are largely incapable of seeing beyond their own noses, though a small number of exceptions exist. This site is in no way representative of the public as a whole.

Where is the harm in educating them about contraception because you can be 110% certain that not every one of them will keep it in their pants. In case you hadn't realised back in never never land, it is impossible to monitor 100% of all citizens 100% of the time. Where on earth did you get that from? If you are having urges to have sex, congratulations - you have joined over 4 billion people wanting to do what life does best. My point still stands: if the youth of today has no self control, how is promoting abstinence going to prevent underage pregnancy. Not everyone can be indoctrinated, more's the pity.

And? Those are the teens that need to stop having babies and so they are the ones that the solution has to work for. That's exactly why I described abstinence as pre-1950's - something that may have worked before but isn't suited to the youths of today.

Yes, I can very well deny it. What percentage of teens will try being abstinent, think they can do it, then finally give in to their natural urges and have no contraception to hand? How does it compare to fully prepared sex with contraception then? Abstinence as an individual's life choice = fine and even somewhat respectable. Abstinence promoted as a way to stop teenage pregnancies = pre-1950's mentality.

As for criticising catholics it was doing nothing of the sort. My girlfriend is a catholic and none of her family, nuclear or extended, promote such hilarious ideologies. Nah, the solution is to never have sex. Never. Whats more, don't make contraception available to those under 21 - now there's an incentive to not have sex. Sex is a temptation of the devil. Or so the sickening religious right would have it.

That still wastes both our and the moderators time. Whats more displaying it optionally will solve nothing, if you meant it was an option to turn OUR OWN post count off/on then the spammers/people who see it as an achievement will just have it turned on. If you meant it was an option to turn off OTHER PEOPLES then it won't do anything as no one will know who has it turned off.

That was a mistake on my part, I hadn't seen that. However it is still true, the admins could just do what they want but out of courtesy they're seeing what the users think. Whats more it will seem like the admins disregarded the users opinions when they make their decision based on the poll - or at least it will for those who can't get it into their heads how the poll works.

How? Haha, how's that? Use of this board is a privilege, not a right. What authority are the admins going to have to answer to? As for this being like an election - it isn't. It's like having an election run between two opponents, then splitting one of the candidates into two options - making him require twice as many votes to win. The bottom line is that this poll is to solicit opinions, not to make a decision. As of right now it is showing that the majority of users want the post count removing from next to posts and the poll is serving its purpose. And for anyone that hasn't been reading all the way through, I didn't create the poll - an admin did.
