  1. Indeed, it's controlled by the suprachiasmatic nucleus - a part of the hypothalamus, destruction of which results in irregular sleep patterns. It's not just sleep that is regulated by the SCN but other things too, such as the body's temperature at different times of the day (we go through a period of low body temperature in the early hours of each morning). Hooray for A-level psychology.
  2. Good point Striker6. Why bother making any more first person shooters either I guess? Everyone has played Doom so there is no reason to make any more. Come to think of it why bother making any games at all? What a stupid comment. Why bother? How about to play out a new story, to have an opportunity to play games with more depth, to exploit new graphical technologies and last but not least... BECAUSE THE FANS WANT A NEW ONE.
  3. If it is proven then you'll have no problems showing us some proof, will you? Go on then.
  4. Just because something was unlikely to happen doesn't make it impossible. As for the time thing, I have something similar. On days when I had lectures I'd wake up at 07:10, 5 mins before my alarm, without fail.
  5. It's called sleep paralysis. Not a ghost, or the paranormal.
  6. Abrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary. A dictionary full of cutting witticisms pointed at the words he is defining.
  7. Well these rumours are perpetuated by people like you then believed by morons worldwide.
  8. I have a 20GB iPod 3rd gen. It was by far and away the best at the time of purchase (late 2003) - all the rivals were much larger and had terrible interfaces and controls. The thing I hate most is when someone buys a large capacity MP3 player and then only fills a quarter of it. Mine was filled as soon as I got it. 100GB (18,250 tracks) of music here :D
  9. If any of those ludicrous Bloody Mary stories really happened then it would be well documented and would have been investigated extensively by the police. But they didn't, so they haven't. It's just a good old case of people being stupid enough to believe anything you tell them - it's no good saying, as that site does, "There are plenty of stories of schoolgirls being found dead at school or dead in the restrooms with their eyes gouged out." - without any evidence it is just one big...fat...LIE. Oh but wait... The site has red text on a black background... Ooh ominous... It must be true then. To quote Jim Royle, "my arse".
  10. How do you know that the universe has an edge off which magical time waves can bounce?
  11. It's a normal 'feature' of windows. You have to mute the mic in volume control. This may sound like it would stop the mic working but somehow programs will still pick it up. Me and my brother use Ventrilo when playing LAN games and we have to mute the mic otherwise we hear ourselves through our speakers when we talk - even though the mic is muted our voices get transmitted over Ventrilo.
  12. 0.3 recurring is just the nearest decimal representation of 1/3. 0.3 recurring * 3, if done correctly, would not equal 0.9 recurring, it would equal 1. 0.9 recurring is a result of lack of precision; precision which is impossible to exercise.
  13. I'm afraid I have no idea about sound cards, I haven't used one for years - almost all motherboards come with onboard sound now. As for a graphics card you'll need something of at least 6600GT standard. That means that it or anything above it will do, they're not expensive either. Also be aware that if you do get one of the lower end cards it won't last long at all (with regards to being able to play the latest games). A good value card that should last a while is a 7900GT at ~̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã200. Alternatively you could go a cheaper way and get a 7600GT at ~̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã130 or the lowest end card that will allow it to play being a 6600GT at ~̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã75. All the cards I suggested at PCI-Express, so if you don't have that on your motherboard then you can't use them. If you want an AGP card then you can get a 6800GS but I don't know the pricing on that.
  14. Be aware that, generally speaking, the quoted minimum requirements won't make the game run at a playable speed.
  15. I have some sunburn at the moment, though it's not my worst. You know how your skin starts to peel and get dry when it is healing? I found a solution for that - I've been rubbing it off with a gentle exfoliant (aka an orbital sander).
  16. Wow, you know one example of an ipod not lasting? And your player has worked for SIX WHOLE MONTHS? That's outstanding, reason enough for no one to ever buy an ipod ever again. Anyway, I don't think your friend could have been treating his ipod too well - he can't have been very intelligent if he continued to get another 5 after one failed.
  17. The first class trainer will only have up to around level 4 skills, then you'll have to go to another. After that, they all carry all the skills (with the exception of 'special' skills like perhaps warlock demon skills or hunter's pet skills.
  18. Learn an instrument, learn how to do something you don't know how to do in general, take up a hobby of some sort like woodcarving or something.
  19. Does it beep at all? If not, do you have the PC speaker connected to the motherboard in the right place? The beeps can tell you what's wrong if you look them up in your motherboard manual.
  20. And are also generally between 13-17 but think they are 25.
  21. Because they're not really girls. As for being nicer on the internet, it goes the other way too. You can be an impudent little brat to someone because you know they can't hurt you. People feel less responsibility for their actions.
  22. Double negatives make baby jesus cry. As for why, Mercifull hit the nail on the head; the same reason we're typing in forum.tip.it and not 209.160.32.83.
  23. Why not go and see a doctor then? A forum full of kids isn't the best place to get medical advice.
  24. What a lovely read. Is it possible that it is just a large zit?
  25. Damn right, mad. I'm not going to listen to the OP pontificate about infinity when he can't even spell it.
