  1. So now you are resorting to insulting my intelligence/knowledge? That's low.
  2. My point is that to say something that makes such assertions without thinking about it is arrogant. By saying it, whether you think about it or not - whether it is a nickname or not, you imply that either Bush is my leader or that my country is not free. Apparently you don't: The Crown is the one of the titles of the reigning monarch. You compared calling the president the leader of the free world to calling the king 'the crown'. On topic? This is a topic about politics & religion is it not? So this is on topic.
  3. So you're saying that he said it without meaning anything by it? In which case it is bound to annoy/offend people who disagree with it. I'm quite sure people in India would be offended if I started calling Queen Elizabeth II the Empress of India - it's not true any more and it implies she is their leader when she isn't.
  4. The topic starter used the phrase, so it can't be really be so antiquated now can it? The very fact that he used it is enough for me. If you say such a thing now then you're either not thinking about its meaning and implications or you're arrogant.
  5. I don't care whether it is a nickname or not. If it is then it only reinforces my point about being egocentric; for them to assert that either they are the only free country or that their president rules every free country - neither of which is true. Calling the Queen 'The Crown' makes no assertions about her power, it's simply her position - the only person in the country entitled to wear the crown. Calling someone the leader of the free world is a different kettle of fish.
  6. He's certainly not my leader. So many americans seem to forget that a world exists outside of the borders of the USA. A tad egocentric if you ask me.
  7. It's perfectly possible to raise a well behaved and well adjusted child without hitting them, so why should it be allowed? Spanking is chosen by parents who can't raise their child without hitting them and that's because the parents can't do a good enough job.
  8. 10.4 is a larger number than 10.2, so 10.4 is later.
  9. A.) That is none of your business. B.) No I havn't C.) I'm 18 and I have more own computer.. D.) Thanks for waisting my time. F.) I want my computer to be secure. Ooh touchy... I think you've got something to hide from your parents. Also I think you'll find it goes A B C D E F.
  10. Gorerotted for me. Very much "getting things done" music.
  11. Why would you want to? Been going on sites you don't want your parents to know about?

Thanks for making me feel worse, I hate some things that we do over here. I think you two will find that america didn't invent the Gregorian calendar & time system OR the imperial measurements system.
  13. You can also mail it to yourself and just use your mailbox for an extended bank too (unless that was changed since I stopped playing).

"I left my work until the last minute so I want you to do it for me". At the risk of sounding like an american teenager: Lame.
  15. I don't know, but I know a man who does.
  16. I was under the impression that adblock had some problems with it? Namely a memory leak. Also I have found it's pretty poor for blocking things, there's no heuristic functionality. You have to have already blocked the host (which you might as well have done with a HOSTS file) and have seen an ad from them once before. The one I use will block anything that it thinks could be a banner... Based on the image size/type, the code used to load it and various keywords in the host URL. Mine even blocks google text ads, don't ask me how - I didn't even set up a filter for that. The other option to block ads is to use lynx.

All their songs sound the same to me.
  18. It is not about whether it is their right to affect society or not, what you were proposing would make it impossible (or at least make it very difficult) for them to shrug off their joblessness. It would create a virtual slave-class. Voting is a right. You sound like the sort of person who wants your own vote to be the only one that counts. Your proposition is an ignorant one because it doesn't take into account all circumstances. What if there is a single mother, abandoned by the father of her child and her family - she can't work as she has to look after her child, you think she deserves punishment? Ignorant.
  19. Yeah so the people who do have jobs and can vote will vote in parties whose policies will make it harder for those without jobs to get them.
  20. The current benefits system has created a new socio-economic class: The Professionally Unemployed.
  21. Biggy I've seen that video, assuming its the "real-time weapon change!" one. Good stuff. No, they didn't. A mainframe is a computer but it's not a PC. Computer is not the same as PC.
  22. How about any of the PS3 propaganda. In particular: "We believe that the PS3 will be the place where our users play games, watch films, browse the Web, and use other computer functions. The PlayStation 3 is a computer. We do not need the PC."
  23. Indeed, humans are cognitive misers.
