HP & IBM/Lenovo make excellent quality machines, though you'll often pay more for them. Based on things I have seen I'd avoid Toshiba laptops and the Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo series due to repeated failures I've witnessed in my friends machines. If you want a machine to use whilst out and about, make sure it has a mobile processor - not a desktop one. Otherwise it will run out its battery in no time.

The two processes that are causing the adverts are atmclk.exe and dcomcfg.exe. Either you can terminate them and remove their automatic startup links or you can get spybot search & destroy which should do it for you.

Aluminium won't bend or snap either... They wouldn't make cases out of it if it did. Removable motherboard tray isn't for initial installation really, it is more useful when changing parts - so you don't have to totally disassemble it. The Xion case still has very poor cooling. 1x 120mm and 1x 80mm is really not good. Just don't fall for a gimmick. Something that looks nice now but you get tired of in a couple of months because you're bored of its fancy lights. You get what you pay for and a good case is a worthwhile investment.

You get what you pay for. Expect a fair bit of plastic. The rest is made of steel so you can also expect it to be heavy. I wouldn't buy either of them. I wouldn't buy the Xion one because it's liable to be cheap & tacky with lots of plastic and lots of corners cut. It also has inadequate cooling provisions, no removable motherboard tray, plastic door and heavy steel construction. I wouldn't buy the Aspire one because whilst it is okay, for that price you could get much better. Thermaltake will do ones which have an equal amount of plastic but have better cooling, Lian Li have some (PC-60BPLUSII, PC-6070AplusII - very nice) which are cheaper, ALL aluminium, slightly smaller and have better/equal cooling, Gigabyte has the 3D Aurora which is cheaper and has better cooling.

It is ONE card with TWO cores. It has one price, occupies one slot, and can be used with another of them to create a quad-SLI system (only in OEM machines). An FX60 has two cores but I don't hear you calling that two individual processors.

I think you'll find that the fastest card available is made by NVidia. GeForce 7950 GX2.

I have had several power supplies literally explode (with a loud bang) for me and not once has anything inside the system been damaged. I believe the power supply is designed to cut off from the system if anything like that happens so it is very unlikely that any of the guts of your machine will be damaged. Make sure the replacement you buy isn't a cheap/budget one. Get one made by Antec / FSP (Fortron) / Enermax / Silverstone / OCZ / Seasonic.
