  2. Because it doesn't take long to break at all. A few minutes with a certain program.
  3. In the hierarchy of things to try in this situation, reinstalling windows would be pretty low down.
  4. What are you using to show the temperatures? Is there anything that can show a graph of how it changes over time? That could show if there's a sharp rise in temperature just before problems start occurring. I'd also suggest you post at a more technical forum than here. You could try forums.anandtech.com or ocforums.com - both have many more experts on this subject.
  5. If you're making a game using their trademark expect to get sued.
  6. Try finding ATI's equivalent of RivaTuner (which is for nVidia cards - afraid I don't know what the ATI equivalent is) and looking at the card's temperature to see if it is overheating. Post the temperatures here.
  7. You could ask the person that set it up. You could also set a new WEP key by accessing the router's web interface (usually by visiting 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1). Also, remember that WEP is not a good way to secure your network.
  8. I used to get chest pains sometimes, then I discovered it was just heartburn (which I hadn't experienced before) and that drinking a pint of water made it subside.
  9. Well why the hell did you post here then? Don't post such spam again. I have a cat. I don't know its breed. It can be seen on the 'post pictures of your pets' sticky. He's the very definition of 'cool cat', he's so laid back you'd think he was constantly stoned.
  10. How many times do I have to say it... :( he said he feels. misquote ftw? Total misquote indeed. It isn't whether he feels he needs it or not - its the fact that he said that isn't his reason for not caring. Interestingly, intentionally misquoting someone is in contravention of part 1.5 of the forum rules. So don't do it again.
  11. I'd love to implement that. Unfortunately I don't think I'd get away with it.
  12. [sarcasm]Being a mod means I'm no longer entitled to an opinion[/sarcasm] If someone's going to act like a zealot then I make a mental note not to bother reading their posts in the future. It just saves time. I will post my views whenever I feel like it. Being a mod doesn't mean I have to tiptoe around zealots. The others have already pointed out why I said that so no more discussion on it. Especially seeing as religious discussion is banned
  13. This will never happen. Users would just end up creating argument threads then locking them to get the last word.
  14. Saying you didn't mean things as an attack doesn't really work after accusing us of 'nazimodding'. I don't know about the other mods, but I love being compared to a nazi.
  15. 7% - it believes I contradicted myself on the question about art being taste and Michelangelo being one of history's finest artists. I contend that I was just answering that question according to whether he is one of the artists I think was one of the greatest to have existed.
  16. Why are you insulting the people you are asking to do you a favour? Not the best way to make them want to do things your way.
  17. It is kind of depressing to label them as such, why not "things to do whilst we're alive" as opposed to things to do before we die, as the precious seconds tick away... tick, tock, tick, tock. Quick! Swim with a dolphin! Find one! Find one! QUICKLY!
  18. I think this post is proof that situation will never occur. I've been at this forum five and a half years. The small fish never run out.
  19. There might be a way to change the port that the router's internal webserver operates on. I haven't used a Belkin router myself, so I wouldn't know where such an option would be though.
  20. The content of this sticky may be largely immaterial, since it seems most people don't read inside them anyway, given the number of replies ignoring the content of Ard_Choille's ***NEW*** Tech and Computers Guide announcement. That's why I tried to get the message accross in the title. Anyhow: You cannot expect people to help you if you do not give details of the problem you are having. There are some technically minded people who read this board and are generally happy to help those with problems. However, there is nothing we despise more than when people do not give any details of the problem they are having. The thread title: If you do not give your thread a descriptive title, people are unlikely to read it. Calling your thread "plz help" or "OMG WHAT RONG??" will only earn you castigation from the users who do read your topic and you will waste the time of a moderator who will then edit the title to something descriptive. Hardly a way to endear yourself to the people from whom you are seeking help. Make the title descriptive of the problem. That will attract people who are knowledgeable about the area in which you are experiencing trouble. The problem: Describe your situation IN DETAIL. That cannot be stressed enough. If you do not make it clear what you are having a problem with, no one will help you. Saying "my connection isn't working, plz help" will get you no friends. It will only annoy the people who wasted their time clicking on your thread, and they'll generally let you know how annoyed they are. Again, not a way to endear yourself to the people from whom you are seeking help. Describe your problem in detail. Describe your problem in detail. Describe your problem in detail. If it's a connection problem, include details about your connection. What type it is (dial-up, DSL, cable, satellite), what provider you use, how many other people use it and so on. If it is a rebooting/crashing problem include when it happens, what changes to your setup you have made and what things you have done to try and solve the problem. Use your head, if you have one. Include when you first noticed the problem. Anything you did that you think may have caused it. Bottom line: don't expect help if you don't extend any courtesy to the people you want to help you. In fact you can expect reprobation, castigation and sometimes even fustigation.
  21. Have you noticed it with any other browsers? Perhaps try with firefox. That will help ascertain the location of the problem, whether it is a problem with safari specifically.
  22. Your signature puts it well: What on earth are you talking about? You can't expect help if you don't fill us in on the basics. Do you mean bits per second on your internet connection? If so, what sort of connection? What provider?
  23. I guessed that much. I just wanted to know more specifics.
