  1. Destiny implies one simple preordained path, almost a story of your life. Predeterminism implies that all your choices are a result of past experiences and interactions - therefore it would be impossible to choose the 'wrong' one. I was referring to the predeterminist idea of human thought, as that's what he was talking about. Destiny is one set story for everyone which you're just playing along right from the start, predeterminism is each decision being calculated in real time but based on factors that will only allow it one outcome.
  2. "Knowledge of what will happen" That acknowledges it will happen. If it will happen then choice is only an illusion. Whilst it isn't the same as destiny, it does not equate to free will either. It's predeterminism.
  3. My printscreen key isn't capturing the whole desktop to the clipboard. When I use printscreen on its own, nothing happens. If I use alt+printscreen, capturing one window works just fine. My machine is: A64 3700+ 1GB DDR400 6800GT XP Pro SP1 IBM Model M keyboard It seems like the problem goes away after restarting, but it has happened before meaning it comes back. I don't have any spyware/adware/anything malicious on my machine (I can't be bothered having to prove it, I keep an eye on my processes). Aside from the normal windows processes some of the long-term (running pretty much all the time) ones I have running are: Antivirus (CA's "EzAntivirus") Gainward's controller for my GPU MBM Samurize Activesync for my PDA Process Explorer Raindlendar Firefox 1 thing I can't mention whose latter syllable of 2 rhymes with pool Trillian I repeat: there's nothing wrong with my keyboard, alt+printscreen works fine. Anyone know what could be going on?
  4. http://xe.com Plus every other currency site i've went to had around the same exchange rates. According to xe.com ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã30 = $55.7579 - how on earth did you get $37-38?
  5. I thought Condemned would be awesome, they can boast about innovative features all they like (like Condemned's 'use anything as a weapon') but when it arrives they are usually bunk (like Condemned's limited set of weapons which were just lying around everywhere). Is Prey being developed for a console alongside the PC? If so I think I can safely say it won't impress me.
  6. I hope Prey isn't a third Doom 3 (Quake 4 being the second).
  7. Do you think he'd be doing it if there was any chance at all that he could die? Even if he started to drown they'd resuscitate him.
  8. Little person and dwarf (little person) are actually different. Little person = Someone out of perportion (sp?). Head is normally bigger than the rest of the body Dwarf = A Mini person. Just short. I think it's like that, or the two explanations are the wrong way round lol. It's the other way around. A midget is a small person whose limbs are in proportion to the rest of the body. A dwarf is a person with Achondroplasia, a genetic condition which causes the limbs to be disproportionately short amongst other things. ..."So what's a goblin then?" Tuppence to whoever gets the reference. Threppence to whoever can quote the next line.
  9. Why only lads? Are you discriminating against females?
  10. All that he's asking for is a kick in the teeth.
  11. I love The Devil's Dictionary by Ambrose Bierce. It contains such cynical, caustic wit which is all so true that it brings a smile to my face every time I read it.
  12. What's wrong with you? I said that the victims and their families aren't the only people with a right to care.
  13. Ahh now I'm starting to get it, because he didn't mention the others affected they are rendered irrelevant?
  14. I see, so the fact I am in the UK right now makes what I said wrong? Are you affirming that only the victims and their families were affected by this incident?
  15. Because of course it was only the relatives of the victims and the victims themselves that were affected by this.
  16. National Treasure. I want my 2 hours back. The sidekick character is SO ANNOYING, is he meant to be funny?
  17. No, you have no idea. "They" do.
  18. Why would it be good?
  19. Just because they're illegal on sidewalks doesn't make them legal on roads, nor does what their box says or what 'people' say they're for. There are a plethora of devices like this which are only legal to use on private property, like segways for example. The box can say all it wants, doesn't make it the law. You can carry passengers/shopping in a car, a car can go faster, you don't get rained on, you don't have to refuel every half an hour, and finally it's legal?
  20. Posting like this is guaranteed negative attention.
  21. And why can the Shuffle only be used for those two activities? I can assure you that the majority of Shuffle owners won't use them for either of those.
  22. That's not a typing error, it's a translation error. Do you think they had typewriters/printing presses in the first century? No.
  23. And the shipping costs more than the torch itself.
  24. In almost all countries the reason they are illegal to use on the road is because they're NOT in the law. The things you can use on the road have to be specified under a certain statute, and those scooters aren't included so you can't use them on public roads.
