  1. His analogy is poor but so is yours. Atheists know that Jesus existed, but they don't accept that he performed any miracles. He is suggesting that the notion of him performing miracles is as ludicrous as a guy pushing the sun across the sky, only it is flawed in that he used a guy who didn't exist.
  2. Why, because his educated and well-formed posts are both informative and yet accessible, presented in a comedic manner whilst retaining a level of articulation unparalleled the world over?
  3. What was he sick with? Was it serious?
  4. So proponents are allowed to talk about it like it DID happen, yet opponents are only allowed to say they don't believe it happened?
  5. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=285 ... t=#2850272 You post your disbelief about a child dying on a schoolbus in front of someone's eyes and that is okay - but when he posts his disbelief concerning something related to your religion it is intolerant? Sounds like a double standard to me. As for insulting, how is it? You say it did happen, we say it didn't. We provided analogies to show how it appears to us, to the unindoctrinated it sounds as credible as any childrens' fairy-tale. From the looks of it you just want no one to be able to disagree with you. And that sounds like intolerance to me.
  6. Around ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã30,000 on a car - nothing stupid, something reasonably fast but practical too like a top of the range Audi A3. ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã30,000 on paying off student loans and not getting one next year or the year after. ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã250,000 put away to get me and the woman a house after finishing university, in a nice area of Leeds probably. ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5,000 on a computer setup for me - FX60, dual 7900GTX, 2GB RAM, a couple of TB of storage, a couple of big high quality CRT screens (because I like them), an even bigger leather chair than I have now. ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1,500 on a lappy T for the woman. ...and the rest invested and making more money for me.
  7. ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã500 won't get you a machine with a dual core and moderate graphics card. It will get you *A* dual core CPU and *A* moderate graphics card, but not a machine with them in. I recently built a ~̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã500 machine for my flatmate (inc CRT screen) and it got him an A64 3200+, 1GB DDR400 with a PCI-E nVidia 6500... ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã500 doesn't go far at all when you have all the components to think about. Especially in rip-off britain.
  8. You wear chickens? Everything is becoming clearer now.
  9. Yeah like sleeping beauty could only be woken by the kiss of a prince.
  10. That guy looks like he has a dead foot...
  11. I didn't ask a question.
  12. Exactly, I don't need to work out HOW it happened because I don't think it DID happen. I don't waste my time trying to work out how kisses can turn frogs into princes either.
  13. Yes it's probably the wrong forum as this mainly deals with technical issues as opposed to social ones. I use the qualifier 'probably'.
  14. I don't call it just or fair, I call it life. I say the same to you. You try to discredit my post saying that things are not necessary, yet you lead a life filled with luxuries all of which impact on the earth and so many animals in it. Your argument holds no water when you don't practice what you preach.
  15. It couldn't happen though. A company of that size has its fingers in so very many pies that it would be largely impossible to just disappear.
  16. Not true, that. What about the chimpanzees and dolphins that solve puzzles - surely that is more than a mere reaction. In fact, young chimpanzees show better problem solving abilities than young human children... http://www.emory.edu/LIVING_LINKS/Chimp ... ormity.htm http://www.embodimentwiki.org/index.php ... _cognition http://www.pnas.org/cgi/reprint/98/10/5937.pdf http://www.pulseplanet.com/feat_archive/Oct01/ http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?articl ... 9EC588ED9F
  17. The Zen Micro is hard disk based, I think, therefore it is much more likely to be damaged by impact.
  18. Birds & beavers aren't more advanced than me, but they certainly seem more advanced than the OP.
  19. It isn't as simple as just wanting to feed the family, given the opportunity I would go hunting for game not because it is fun, but because it tastes really good and it often hard to find. Out of all the people I know who have hunted, they do it because they like eating game. They don't go out to kill for fun then just eat it because they feel morally bound to, they kill to get their hands on some really tasty meat that they can't find in shops. I don't know about supply of this sort of thing in other parts of the world, though. Where I'm from, if you want pheasant, partridge, quail, rabbit etc. you have to go find it yourself (or get a poacher to find it).
  20. If your system is dell then I would say its almost certain you only have AGP and not PCI-E - in which case you have two options: Get the best AGP card you can find - the 7800GS to my knowledge or... Put money towards getting a system which will last you longer and allow you to get a better graphics card. Go for a motherboard with PCI-E. Obviously the former is the best short term solution so if you're desperate, go that way. My brother has a 6800GS which is also pretty good and probably a bit cheaper, though obviously not as fast.
  21. Make sure you get a flash based (as opposed to hard disk based) player. I'm afraid I can't comment on what is good as I've never owned a flash based player.
  22. If you don't want to be corrected on your wording then don't use inappropriate words to describe things. My point was that you use these strong sounding words which don't apply to the argument at hand - they are just buzzwords used by animal rights activists/terrorists all the time. I suggest that your use of such irrelevant buzzwords is counter-productive to the rest of the discussion. Some data on animals trying to survive? Doubtful seeing as it would be as necessary as a study to show that we breathe. Can you show me some data that shows that animals actively try and hamper the progress of their species? Or how about a study that concludes that animals, when faced with an easier way of getting food will not take it. No? Are we just getting into the realms of the stupid now? There you go again, thinking that humans are the only beings that are able to transcend nature, thinking that somehow we are capable of doing things that are unnatural... If this magical force of nature were real then we wouldn't be able to do unnatural things. That is unless you consider us to be on a higher plane of existence than other beings in some way. As for nature putting us in our place, see my signature.
  23. Interesting choice of words there. Murder meaning the unlawful killing of a human and torture being pain for the sake of pain inflicted for punishment or to extract information... Neither of which apply to animals. You might as well accuse people of treason or fraud against animals, it would be just as ludicrous. As for 'letting nature' further our species, that's just nonsensical hippytalk. Every species fights for their advancement and survival, it is the entire purpose of life. To deliberately hamper your progress is NOT natural. What almost every animal rights activist/terrorist seems to forget is that animals kill other animals - it happens everywhere and it happens all the time. They don't call it unnatural when an omnivorous animal like a dog kills a rabbit to eat, humans are animals too so to not extend the same reasoning to us is unfair. Just because we have more advanced means of obtaining prey doesn't mean it isn't natural. Nature isn't a mystical magic force that dictates what will happen. To suggest that we are the only creatures on the entire planet that can somehow transcend nature is pretty arrogant.
  24. 2. Because you might only have an AGP port, in which case you would have either bought the AGP version or the system maker chose it. I assumed you wouldn't have PCI-E as most systems of that time (can't tell exactly when as I don't really know ATI model release times), especially budget ones as yours seems to be, didn't. 3. Good
