  1. There are ridiculously many things that haven't been done, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea to do them, much less research them. To me, you are having a tough time selling your idea. If you really are interested in research i would suggest getting in tough with grimy bunyip- he has alot of topics in which research is actively being carried out and has been deemed relevant.
  2. And this is exactly why i'm asking the questions. I'm aware of communities that actively focus on research(clearly not tip.it) and those are very important questions about any topic of relevant research. If you can't answer the questions, you are likely doing something wrong. The OP doesn't sound at all like he has had any experience at all in doing things like this.
  3. Why is this important? And... How can we exactly tell what an attempt is?(would have been possible in rsc, but not really now) The thread really makes little sense and has no implications. People(apart from grimy, but even for him it requires interest) don't research useless stuff.
  4. Read the guidelines CAREFULLY before going to the clan chat. If you've done that you can enter the clan chat and start applying for floors. If anyone asks you questions about guidelines, it's your duty to answer them. Once you've been doing a few floors you can apply for recruit rank, in which case you'll also be asked questions about the guidelines.
  5. I would say that cannon accuracy is affected by attack styles, though it's hard to prove. We already know that cannon accuracy is dependent on your highest attack style, but according to my tests at crawlers, having much lower cannon kills when not using turmoil, suggests that it's attack max hit that affects things, thus attack style is better for crawlers than strength or defensive. In either case, as you have boosted accuracy for slayer anyway, i'd say it would be smarter to train defense now and leave attack for when you don't have the benefits of slayer helmet.
  6. Skype really isn't great for learning- people use skype to be more relaxed and make floors faster with better communication, but that means everyone already has to be good at it beforehand. There is nothing worse than people raging on skype(which will happen with dungeoneering nubs).
  7. There aren't enough skype teams and most(if not all) of them are between pros, so if you already aren't very good, it will be very hard. Being muted is a big problem for dungeoneering. is there an irc for dgs? Nop. We do well enough with private forums and skype in addition to the clan chat. As for skype usage, we do promote it, but not everyone is comfortable using it(for different reasons, including mother tongue and lag), though, for most floors, you only need a keyer talking and everyone listening in for it to work as a muted player, but if you aren't good already, it's unlikely many skype teams would accept you.

  9. Given that he has experience of adapting to new efficient methods for over 6-7 years he played, i don't see any plausible reason to suggest he wouldn't be able to do that now. And in any case, if he were to accept donations, he could rack up alot more gp than suomi can right now. Money really isn't as huge a deal assuming you use the most reasonable methods for most skills- it would only be a problem if you want to use all the best methods, which not everyone does(for instance, elias making extreme attack potions).
  10. Largely out of context. Newsflash: no frost dragons, gwd, nex or whatever else that makes his method sound ridiculous nowadays. I have no doubt that, at the time, with his goals in mind(to max out), that was an efficient method of training. Lilyuffie(first to 99 prayer) got most of her prayer xp at blue dragons, and green dragons(that didn't exist in those days) are still considered a decent moneymaker for people without the requirements and levels for better ones. Zezima definitely played efficiently, but he wasn't as crazy about it as some of the people nowadays are, contributing to his longevity. Also, if you consider the xp he has, it's largely deflated having trained most skills with largely inferior methods.
  11. What game are you talking about? A mage doesn't use melee, you need solid objects to safespot mage or range(and there are none in the trio room). As discussed in the cc/among ranks, the melee one is actually extremely inaccurate, so if you can have him on someone with even a little armor, and then have everyone switching mage/range pray as needed(mage is 5 ticks, ranger is somewhere between 2-4 ticks). If you are good enough, you can ignore 100% mage damage and 50-80% range damage, which should be enough with 5 people in there and a few food. Ofcource, this strategy matters little as low occults are not worth doing and the first 3 bosses are rare in tf.
  12. 10 years was the original idea but i think they have some technical problems with doing it(don't have account creation dates that go back that far) so it has been speculated that they might release the cape next year for people with bunny ears/scythes, but it's just speculation. 10 year cape was always something they wanted to do, even before 5 year capes.
  13. I think this is just a matter of what some people see as being helped. If you think a rank is going to invest alot of one-on-one time with you to make you a better dungeoneer, then i think you are just naive or optimistic. Experienced dungeoneers, without any guarantees, taking you into dungeons with them and helping you become a better dungeoneer is already alot, when that spot could be reserved for someone you know and trust. A BIG part of learning is down to yourself making the effort- other people aren't just going to forcefeed you knowledge and instincts. Oh, and sorry about the spam. I guess the couple of posts could be moved to the dgs thread...
  14. Magic is definitely faster on ice strykeworms. Quite significantly, aswell.
  15. Don't talk about the sheets. Big Brother is watching. Yeah, if i ever said something as crazy as that, i would have been very wrong. And yeah, the sheets are cursed, thus not allowed to be linked here(cursed by jagex community moderators, no less).
  16. I just use an unicorn. Soul split takes attention, which i can't bother with.
  17. For first, dungeoneering monsters in general have low defense. It's more important to use the right style than your highest bonus. For second, as there weaknesses are so pronounced, accuracy will never be as much of an issue as strength is(50% accuracy is the line). And third, ofcource, as all weapons have a maximum of one accurate stance, and it's more important to use the right style, you'd need atleast 2 weapons, likely 3 for tactician to be good, and even then, you'd only have an advantage if you are using your weapons on things they shouldn't be used against. Tactician is absolute garbage because you should never have low enough accuracy and because berserker can be used with many styles(which, ironically, makes using berserker more accurate).
  18. Trio is the hardest boss you have to deal with. In terms of deaths I would say it's easier to die on Shadow forger, since you can get 1hko'd by the range splats. It's not really uncommon to c1 abd 2 now aswell but i'd still say trio is worse, primarily for taking very long.
  19. Trio is the hardest boss you have to deal with.
  20. What are the rates of crawlers you are using? For the last 18,7k crawlers i have been keeping track of, the crawlers-per-effigy(cpe) rate has been 852 while my hourly killrate(with ardy cape, comp would help quite a bit) without banking has been 832 kph. I'm not sure on the numbers you are using, but i figure the actual rates should be around 750-800 cpe and 850 kph.
  21. The best setup for an account like that(assuming he can't use berserker ring) would be to mage/range combo. Longbows are terrible due to their sheer lack of raw dps, so a sag short will serve him much better. For mage, he should get atleast 90+ mage to bind empowered catalytic staff to use with earth surge. Due to your training preferences, the lack of defense or hood should not be a problem. That said, no matter what bind setup he chooses, his dps will forever be subpar(even hex+ccs doesn't work that well). As tui already said, do around 70%(less if you don't like c1's/c2's) as c1's and higher floors as larges/meds. 5:5 small dungeons are best for t11 drops, preferably with 5 players 99hp/138 cb.
  22. I don't think that's necessarily true. The Ancient and I discussed this once, but I won't argue about it. I don't have any data. with str boost and turm it's certainly true. Otherwise it's only true on things you just don't want to crush(say thundy).
  23. No, spears are only good for free players and <45 def pures.
  24. DGS is for people who don't dungeoneer for the rewards, so adding a section about rewards is more or less counterproductive. Players can do whatever they want, but until 106 dungeoneering, we expect them to contribute 25% of their tokens to ring upgrades- that's 6,75% at 120 and less than 4% at 200m. Not too much to ask when you consider you get dungeons with the quality of 110+ dungeoneering clans and actually get to learn something. As said, this topic has been discussed VERY thoroughly between the ranks and this isn't just something Jimi came up with half-drunk not having sex with his GF. And to show that we(well, me) too are making an effort: Amazingly i'd still hadn't got it(got t10 berserker at ~101 dg) as i've spent over 1.5m tokens in xp, but as i already had the tokens i might aswell show good gamesmanship.
  25. Chicken, please, the arguement is over. You are only hurting your cause right now. The fact is, everything in the dgs guidelines isn't just loosely scribbled there for no apparent reason- we work very hard researching things about dungeoneering and we do think our superior knowledge in the subject should reflect on that, and people who do not meet the requirements just aren't dgs material. If you do think the guidelines do not meet with your personal vision of dungeoneering, the clan likely isn't for you(and it's very offensive to think we'd make guidelines to hurt the cause).
