  1. Except there is a problem- namely, having maxed levels and gear means you are uncrashable and can crash anyone else below you, thus having no reason really not to crash. And this really is an important point in the ELITIST view, for most people, there is an equilibrium, for the elite, there isn't. People solo because it's better to do so, not because they want a single player game. The majority of people team in dungeoneering, y'know.
  2. And the name of the person forcing you to do it is...? If you break it down like that, the majority if not everything people do in runescape is pretty pointless, but if there are people who like to do it, let them do so. Just because you want something doesn't mean it has to be easy.
  3. And i've already mentioned a couple of times on this thread that if I were never to be crashed, i wouldn't ever even consider crashing someone else. However, as i frequently get crashed by those same low levels while training slayer(non-multy crashing), i've given up caring and gone into an eff' you mode. Also, as i've said before, crashing will never stop as there is no accountability for your actions(of that sort) in runescape, thus why comparisons of cutting the line in real life aren't really fair. Unless there is accountability, this will never stop, thus being nice really shouldn't even be considered an option. This is further enhanced by the fact that if you have the best levels/equipment you can crash everyone below you and not be crashed yourself.
  4. Well, this is your opinion and you are completely entitled to it. However, there are quite alot of people who don't see things the way you do. What you may see as self-destructive behavior, others might see as innovative thinking. After all, competing for your chances levels the playing field for everyone. The person who you crash on one day might come back and crash you on another day, thus giving both of them incentive to improve themselves. As a side effect of this welcome competition and thrill(yes), the economy improves, and by making alot of money, those same elitists bring down the prices of high end gear so others can reach those levels more easily. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being nice, but in the end of the day, when the happiness of others comes from the unhappiness of yourself, you are doing something wrong. Most of us just don't have all life to play around, we want to achieve our goals as fast and enjoyably as possible, and if some small part of it comes from making someone else unhappy in some situation, we can live with it. After all, you being nice to someone doesn't automatically guarantee he is also going to be nice- who is there to say that the person you decide not to crash didn't crash someone else for the spot?
  5. Your sole reason of being there is to make money. If you are to be nice and not crash, you will make less money for that other person to be able to make more money. Less is more? Don't think so, atleast in this situation. By the way, everybody does have a chance. Crashing someone doesn't mean they are unable to do the things they want, it just means they will have to find an empty spot/someone else to crash. You are just looking at this from a kindergarten 'sharing is caring' point of view. We are not all immortal. As I said, the elitist view isn't about ruining someone elses gaming experience, rather enhancing yours. We don't crash so that other people wouldn't get a chance of doing what they want, rather because we want to be able to do what we want(and it's rude, yes, but not as bad as spending 40 minutes looking for an empty spot).
  6. that...? In any case, as far as i can understand, you are arguing that just because some players have played longer and achieved better levels/equipment, they shouldn't be telling other people to leave their training/MH-ing spots. However, nothing of this kind is actually being discussed. What, however, is being detested, is what qualifies for possession of that very same spot- being there first or winning the spot(by beating out the competition). We don't think anyone really owns any training spot, thus if you want something, you have to fight for it. Yes, it might be rude on some levels, but because those people aren't doing it to be rude, we don't see it as a bad thing, and overall, it's good for the economy.
  7. The elitist view isn't that those lower levelled people should GTFO and not do anything they want. It's about the perspective of how you see the ownership of a training spot, either first comes first serve or survival of the fittest. Being higher levelled doesn't mean you deserve or own the spot any more than anyone else- you still have to fight for it. You seem to be very much against anything where being the first should always have an edge, so why should a level 110 be left alone when soloing bandos- because he was already there? Or should he have to fight to retain his spot, just like others have done.
  8. Noone factors in ge price for blue partyhat, does that mean that it's insignificant? Yes, CLS is better, but not better enough to justify using it. By your logic, onyx bolts are always better than broad bolts.
  9. This would all be true if CLS was the same speed as ZS, let alone rapier. ZS would get a few kills less an hour than CLS, but usually not enough to justify the 90k an hour price tag(with all accuracy boosts, it's next to a tossup). Also, anyone still looking at accuracy bonuses alone really deserves to be called an idiot. Even with 41 more stab bonus the CLS has(with defender), there is no way to make up for that loss in speed. The prayer bonus on a ZS is insignificant(as you are bound to have 20+ anyway).
  10. There is no real way of ''fixing'' the price really as the majority of people hold them for investment purposes(it wasn't very prestigious to hold partyhats when they were junk), thus if jagex would ''correct'' the price to the level they should be, say blue at 1.9b, they would just crash and be just as bad junk as they are good street price items right now. I'm fairly sure that there is no price that partyhats could be at and be stable with alot of people wanting to hang on to them(time=money, you lose money holding a high valued stable item).
  11. Looks like jagex is ripping someone off. As far as i've seen, i've never gotten less than 30 days of members.(sometimes 31 days, depending on the method of purchase)
  12. Is this even a question? 15% magic damage is clearly much better than 3 magic attack.
  13. lies! lol Its $.17 (works out to 16.6 so round up) per day in September, April, June & November. $.18 per day for February (rounded up) $.17 per day in February leap years (rounds down) and $.16 a day in all other months (rounded down) Errm, as far as i know, and i've been a member for around 5 years or so, it's 30 or 31 days of members for 5/6 dollars, thus it doesn't vary for different months.
  14. Don't bother explaining, he just loves me THAT much...
  15. Largely depends on your accuracy bonuses. While whip might be great for blue dragons with ext/turm/FSH/maxed, it's not so great with sup/10% str/neit/80s. Other than that, there generally isn't a large difference for the two lower dragons, and the difference is quite big for blacks.
  16. Unless you use claws to spec him out and get lucky, vengance will not do you much good- it's only good for some initial damage which will be healed later by the healers.
  17. I'd say that the only skill drastically different in members than it is in free play is prayer, so i'd suggest you'd put as much time and money into that while you can, but i doubt you'd have too much money to spend with those stats. Other than that, i'd suggest trying out most of the members minigames, but with low stats, most of them might not be that fun either. I think this belongs in H&A.
  18. Well, i was talking about pure ranged xp and, well, i really doubt he would want to melee them.
  19. You are not going to survive the damage with that, either pray melee or use a unicorn/soul split.
  20. He is ranging frost dragons to make money. It's slow xp/hr. fairly slow, i might say, at 18 hours a day, he should still net around 1.8m xp, but as far as i've seen, he hasn't been very invested in it.
  21. He could have had the steel titan out from a previous task ,and realistically, there is no reason to dismiss the familiar(furthermore as it's actually helpful). At least that's why i sometimes slay in kurdals with titan.
  22. Your example of 3 elys really makes me chuckle. Actually, it really shows that the top merchants are great at hiding their stock. Divines were bought out. There are people with ~20+ divines in their banks. What other people decide to be their goals is their own business, not ours. The fact that you don't understand or gasp someone elses goals(like, for instance, having 100B) is not merchanters problem. Jagex solely created this hostile economic environment, no need to blame the players(even manipulation is a legit way of coping).

I think grimy is right in this situation- if your ultimate goal really is to max out, magic is one of those skills that can wait as the xp usually comes weather you want it or not. I've never purposely trained magic after 99(which i got in 05, just before they nerfed charging) and the xp just keeps piling up. As for hunter- the highest butterfly is always the best, doubt you really need the money from grenwalls. Other than the usual suspects for magic, i think the most worthwhile thing would be to always connect it with another skill- LRC gold, maging frosts(money for herb/pray) or barraging rock lobsters are some nice examples of this, but there are also other method(alching fish, plank make while woodcutting etc).
  24. No, it was created by jagex. It is undeniable that the current way ge works doesn't allow for satisfactory price changes, thus causing this concept. I can hardly call coping with a broken system greedy. In any case, i don't think this topic is about discussing this very subject.
  25. Some people have really bad knowledge of semiotics.
