  1. Yes, i can do that. Point was, i wanted it to update on its own, which IS do-able as Ray has pointed out. I have found out how to do it, but it requires me learning PHP or Regex, which i don't have the time to do right now. So yes, i shall just be drawing and updating one. Ah well, watch my signature space for the first attempt ;)
  2. Ta for the help. However, i was hoping the do the whole thing myself, with entierely my own design. Do you know how the dynamics work?
  3. Hi. I'm trying to make my own stats sig atm. I want something original. I'm not going to make it incredibly arty the first attempt, but what i really want to know is how can i get it to update when i improve my stats? Can i do this and how? Thanks.
  4. Pickaxe is useless. Even on granite. I used it for half an hour and it just took the mick. The extra experience was not enough to make up for the fact that it took me ages to mine each rock. I'm not sure about iron, but i would imagine it's the same.
  5. I beg to differ. The whole point of powertraining is not money. For me anyway - I powertrain to level quickly, money plays no part in it. Well if money is no part in it then why is there a debate. OF course powertrain if everything else is irrelevent. Theres a debate because people have different views - hence the title of my topic. I am not saying that everybody should powertrain. I am saying that for certain aspects of the game that is what i do and when i do, money is of no concern to me. I know that RayOxide for one would disagree. I believe his view is that there is little point in training a skill if there is to be no gain other than xp. He likes to earn some cash whilst training - in which case, often for him the best method is not powertraining. Debate will always occur where there are different sides to an argument.
  6. Perhaps you're right. However, Help and Advice will always have people with different views of how to train which leads to a certain amount of confrontation, but in my opinion, thats healthy as it gives the person asking a few choices as to what to do. There can rarely be a definitive answer to a question.
  7. I could never understand this myself. They must recieve a relatively small amount complared to the amount of time spent begging. Hence would it not be a hell of a lot more beneficial to go and train skills and earn their own cash?! Fools. I always told them that too.
  8. Help and Advice is the forum I post most in. I try to be as helpful as possible, although I can't always offer the best advice, I often put in my two cents to try and be of some use. To be honest I have to agree with the above post, apart from the few recent odd examples, I haven't noticed this that much. Perhaps it's in the ones i haven't read - it is difficult to keep track.. :?
  9. I'd go with the superheating mith ores way to be honest. Seemed pretty quick to me. Definitly better idea that smelthing steel bars continuously, and cuts out on travelling as you can stand at bank + mage xp as well!
  10. Ta for joining in Ray :P See that's where I differ. Take mining for instance - Im strange in that I quite enjoy it and want to raise it. However, I would love to have 99 mining and to get this would take years any other way than powertraining. And even powertraining it will still take a long time! Now in terms of cash gain, there will be almost none as when i train it i tend to use granite. Of course when i reach 85 i intend to have some time mining rune, but for actually raising the skill, powermining all the way. I have never really had a problem with cash. I have some pretty high skills and know that if i want to make some serious cash, i can. But i rarely train combat so what would i spend tens of millions on? - When i have spare cash i use it to power train skills. That, I think is where the difference is. If you like to train combat, you always want to have cash knocking around for the rare armour and weapons, or to restock your food supplies. I however never have anything to spend tons of cash on, so i may as well use it for skills. Hence, it really doesn't bother me if i make a fortune getting a skill up or not. It's all about the quickest way of doing it.
  11. I think its between about 150-180k if you have enough hides ready. For me anyway.
  12. OK thanks. I'll leave it a bit then try again. Ta :)
  13. Anyone else currently having trouble logging in? :? I got booted off with a disconnection and when i went to log back on it says "Your account has not logged out from its last session. Try again in a minute" Have turned my computer off, waited 20 mins and nothing. It still won't let me on. I'm not aware of any way my account could have been hacked so I don't think that it's that. Occasionally i'm also getting a message saying "Login server offline" Is there something wrong at Jagex's end? or is this looking very bad for me?
  14. Only trees/fruit trees and possibly bushes? This does not apply to normal plants.
  15. I beg to differ. The whole point of powertraining is not money. For me anyway - I powertrain to level quickly, money plays no part in it.
  16. Another fair point. However, again it simply shows how everybody has differing opinions. Clearly you found fun in thrill and surprise of combat etc. I won't deny that it can get boring training skills in repetitive manners, but if we all took that view then we would all quit like yourself - after all thats what the game is really about if you wish to train your skills, whether you powertrain or not. This is why i often switch skills whilst powertraining. I'll take a break from powermining granite, to cut some magics for cash etc. No-one can really keep it up constantly. However, I still find it fun and am spurred on in a repetitive task when i have set goals.
  17. Thanks to you all for commenting so far. Gugge. Very good point and I have no arguement there. I choose to powertrain because I like getting skill levels and I like getting them quickly. For me that's fun. At the end of the day it does come down to what we all each enjoy.
  18. I was not aware that Jagex keeps tabs on those accounts that they suspect of using macro's. That being the case, perhaps the reason the accounts the OP reported are still around is because they are being investigated currently? Is it not reasonable to assume that Jagex will take a few weeks, or maybe even a few months either before they get round to looking at your reports, or before they have enough evidence to safetly assume that said players are "botting"? Customer Support and appeals always take a battering yet we complain that Jagex don't work fast enough to counter players breaking the rules. Perhaps in instances such as these there is a happy medium, in which time and care are taken to ensure that bans are fair? My advice therefore would be to stop constantly reporting the same players - give Jagex a chance to assess the situation.
  19. In my opinion, you've asked the wrong question. Of course it's an achievement as everyone so far seems to have accepted that at the very least it is on a par with getting the same 99 in P2P. I would have to say that I think it is more of an achievement however. Although it could be argued that the extra skills that are available on members can often be a distraction from a 99 goal, you cannot ignore the fact that (some) skills take a LOT longer to raise on a F2P account. I would certainly not argue that a F2P account maxed out deserves more respect than a P2P account maxed, but I would certainly give more respect to a F2P maxed account than a mediocre one in P2P with a higher total, wouldn't you?
  20. Hey, thought I would start this because there is some debate in the help and advice section of the forums over this issue. My opinion is that powertraining is a very useful and quick method of training some skills, but what is powertraining? Basically it seems to have been defined as training skills as fast as possible, with no regard for profit or loss. There are two basic "methods"; 1) To train a raw skill using the fastest method - usually one that requires no banking (i.e, dropping) and so reaps very little financial reward. Examples of this are; powermining granite or iron (dropping ores) Woodcutting willows (and banking or dropping) - very little reward. 2) Powertraining secondary skills - i.e, those that are buyable. Examples; Fletch, cooking, smithing. Essentially and buyable skill is powertrained. That is unless you collect all the materials required yourself. This would mean fishing all the fish you need for 99 cooking. Mining all the ores to smith for 99 smithing and so on. Views on powertraining Personally I powertrain quite a lot. I mine granite for fast mining levels and "powercraft" by buying a lot of dragonhides and crafting at an extremely high xp rate per hour. I favour these methods because of just how quick they are. I care very little for profit and any spare cash I have generally goes into improving the more buyable skills - as such I have never really had any great amounts of cash. I personally play the game to improve my skills. I'm not that interested in combat and consider myself to be a skiller above all. That what I enjoy. I would not force that upon anyone else and am not suggesting that powertraining is for everyone, or even that it is the best method of training skills - how each person plays the game is up to them. The debate here is not over the effectiveness of powertraining. I fail to see how anyone can prove that it is not the fastest way to improve skills. I do not suggest that it is the best. What i am looking for, is peoples views on powertraining. Do you like it? Or not like it? I would like to end by saying that at some point ALMOST EVERYONE has done this. Prolonged high alching, cooking, fletching - all are mainly powertrained.
  21. Hey, I don't mean to pick on you, or to offend. If that is your view, you are more than entitled to it. However, when the title of the post is "Quickest way to get 85 mining" why post such views? Powertraining is undoubtably the quickest way to train skills. You may not agree that it is the best, but surely you will appreciate it is the quickest? Hence you may understand my confusion. The OP has clearly specified that they WANT to powertrain - they have chosen to ask for the fastest way. So why come onto the post specifically to make comments about how youthink powertraining is stupid. People do have different views and if i recall, this is not the first time you have posted your views about powertraining when people have asked for the quickest methods :| Again, I mean no offence, I simply want to point out that if that is how you feel then there is no need to post it into every related topic in this area of the forums. (EDIT: viewtopic.php?f=143&t=770570 Rayoxide, i welcome your's and others imput)
  22. Yes. Trust me and your faith in the human invention called mathematics when we say that the time saved is well worth it. +1 to trust. There is NO WAY you should use willows. If you are really not sure, then take a level of willows and then a level of maples and see what you prefer. Maples is better hands down, and really does not cost that much more.
  23. I like the game, it's quite fun. I find it eaiser and more enjoyable on a world thats less packed and only a few people playing.
  24. If you ask me, it's Jagex's way of absolutly owning F2Pers for asking for more bank space. Clearly they don't want to give any more, so instead they take it away with an item that they've forced you to store if you want to keep. . . (Just an observation btw. I am NOT saying f2p shouldn't get more bank space - have commented about that in debate forums)
