The point of a manipulation is to not let ANYONE know about it, or its actual consequences. How could any player have known about the secret group that was raising the prices? They could not have, other wise there would have been NO price increase! The fact they did not realize the result of their choice was all because they were lied to, with no way to prove otherwise. You trick me into believing it is ham by lying to me. The fact you think you can do so with out down right saying "this is a ham sandwich" means nothing more then you were as manipulative as possible in your lying. This example is simply out of context. By making me think the sky is red, you have done like you said in your last line; you made me switch the names of red and blue. However, I still know what is red, and what is blue, even though these are now opposite what they were before. The difference of the real price, and what everyone was manipulated into believing the price should be is 21m gps. If it is impossible to convince everyone of a falsehood (i.e.-a lie), then how did everyone owning a half wine (except the group responsible of the lie) manage to get manipulated into believing the price is now 30m? It clearly did happen, so how? You gave four examples of manipulating and lying. The fact that they were done in different ways simply means, in order for the lie to work, they must be carried out in different ways. All of them are different forms of manipulation, or lying. Manipulation is a synonym to lie. It is lying, but doing it skillfully. The point of this entire thing was not to make a "moral argument". As I have proven, manipulation is against the rules. Why do rules exist? To make the largest amount of people happy and secure. If manipulation was not wrong, if it actually DID benefit the most amount of people, why is it still against the rules? Give a credible example of a moral system that "strictly requires lying".

The point "it's a game", is in relation to his argument that price manipulation is wrong in real life, but it's ok in the game. Kinda like how killing someone to take their items is wrong in real life, but ok in RS. No, I don't think so. Like it has been said, these polls just create more unhappy players. 32% got what they wanted, where as with a surprise, I bet that number would be much higher. I don't really like the GC polls. It's not so much about the lack of surprise as it is about voting, then seeing my choice lose by X amount of votes. As far as the f2p aspect goes, I don't have a problem with them getting holiday events, as that is something that, once gone, they can never get. A large portion of f2pers eventually become members. Other then that, no updates. If they want updates, they should pay for them. Otherwise, whats the point of members? To only get a few extra updates? Not thanks. Incorrect, by that statement, whips would sell for 72k, dragon chains for 150k, etc. The purpose of high alch is not to set a price for an items worth. Any item is only worth what another person will pay for it, not what a group of people manipulate the price to. Rares were never introduced. Holiday items were. They were introduced to be fun. THey became rare when people realized after a certain date, no more would enter the game. People realized this, and over time they became rare, and therefore a symbol of wealth. Yes, he was banned. For doing the very things he posted about. Sure, it is done, but the point of this entire board is to discuss things "that were done". Yes it is a game, but it is a game that takes dedication, and hours of time. I don't want my time in the game wasted by a group of players breaking rules.

I'd have to agree. I had the sgs, and the spec is usefull, but the fact that it costs 120M more then guthans doesn't make it better then a 300gp monkfish. Ags is hands down the best. With my low attack level, you have to cross your fingers that bandos hits its spec, otherwise you waste a spec bar better suited for a dds.

Tip.it sure could use a price guide. I send in 50+ updated price reports to zybez daily. I'd prefer to do that for tip.its guide instead :P

EDIT- just realized this thread is 8 monts old. To whoever asked above me- he was banned from these forums for breaking Jagex rules, I expect. Price manipulation is against the rules of the game. I don't recall anyone asking you to post your opinion, either. It's a public forum, and this is a relevant post. You post your story in the general forum, but then say "your opinion was not called for"? :-k :roll: It was a nice story, but I agree with everything chris has said. Price manipulation is wrong, through what ever means you do it.

You obviously know the words are wrong, and not allowed here (saying ways around them), yet you still post them, and ask others to? :-k I don't mind the censor at all. If you have the need to tell everyone "you suck" in so many ways, you may as well unplug your keyboard.

How many hours = a day? 4-6? Im not entirely sure what the rates are there. yup. I think wild is around 40k? an hour. Maybe a bit less. at 6 hours a day, 62-70 takes 1.58 days. At 4 hours a day, it takes 2.37 days.

I play the same amount pretty consistently. Even when I am close to a goal (a 99, when I got to rank 14 crafting, etc) I just play until I had enough for the day. When I got 99 hunter, I logged out at about 13m exp, and got it the next day(no party or anything). I just played enough for the day.

How is it a maze? Any new user that has spent more then 30mins looking over the forums should know right away where things are. Further more, I don't see how any of the posts in the General stickies could generate more then a page of genuine discussion, other then "that's neat /post".

No they do not. Go to the sigs website and update them from time to time. This belongs in help and advice btw.

It is not hard to know where to post a topic. The titles of forums, sub-forums, and sticky could not be made more obvious. Posting in the correct spot helps keep the boards organized. They are a helpful tool. Want to see some in game pics? Look at the "pictures" sticky. Want to talk about general Runescape? Post it here. Etc. If I want help and advice, It is nice to have a specific place to go to for that. Take a look at all the recent topics that were moved. Most of the replies politely say "I think this belongs ______." I just don't see where you are coming from with your opinions.....

Nope, you need the actual level. 70 agility from 62 should take just 1-2 days at wild course.

You could say the same for the pictures sticky :P This is meant for runescape vids, not off topic ones. This would give players a place to post vids other then General or Rate This. I am not saying vids should be banned from those places at all. For example, a short vid from a monster hunting trip, a vid of a level up, or of yourself trtaining a skill, etc. All these merit no discussion in General, or a rating in Rate This, yet are still neat to watch.

I suggest adding the words "video" to the "post all your rs pictures here" sticky in General discussion. This would give users a specific spot to post videos that do not merit much dicussion in the General forum. It would also give players in the Rate This forum a place to post vids with nothing to rate. If enough players start posting videos, perhaps a new sticky for videos should then be made? Depends on how many vids get posted in the existing sticky. Graveyard videos should be the exception, those staying in that forum.

He meant the gold farming/macro/sweatshops, not all Chinese. Sad though it may be, the rules have to be enforced. Jagex cannot, and should not, allow gold farmers/etc because the peole working there depend on the income. If a poor person steals to make money, they still go to jail. It is not great, and is very sad, yet still neccasary. The game is meant to be PLAYED, not a job and source of income. Gold farmers have taken the fun out of certain parts of the game for me already, I do not want to see it continue.

As I have been telling players in the chat, when someone does this just add them to your ignore list. You can then not see that player, problem solved.
