  1. why spear? isnt rapier always better for the relevant scenarios
  2. Don't think that's true for dogs And what I mean is sniping level 3 bats (like for level mod and stuff), where itll be faster solely on the basis of not having to run to attack them Also I mean ranging the first hit and going into melee. This takes no time if you do it well. If you pick up fires/ess during the floor and don't always use magic, I disagree Also cat staff with air surge is like... comparable to empowered fire with fire surge Wind Surge maxes about 220. 120% of this is 242. Fire Surge maxes 280. 110% of this is 302. 20% less damage is comparable? o.O I really think one more bound item and not having to make any runes is better than 10% more damage. (celestial) cat staff is 30%
  3. i mean, sag arrows with sag bow is like TINY TINY niche (good for like c1s and stuff, and level mod/low lvl monster clearing)
  4. Rapier is still a melee weapon, so you don't get the advantage of quickly sniping small monsters + the range/melee hybrid i was talking about

  6. uh im not gonna hate on jagex for delivering us free trade lol. i mean sometimes they do a bad job but so far i can see myself being happy with the way FT will turn out
  7. Rumor has it that a Mahjarrat quest is going to add a new bind slot for dungeoneering. I don't want to talk about whether or not this rumor is true, because no one without jagex or HLF connections can say anything conclusive. However, I do want to talk about what this potential new bind slot means for dungeoneering. What new things would you like to bind? Here's my list, in what I consider to be a rough order of usefulness: Offense gear Hexhunter bow Blood necklace Celestial Catalytic Staff Primal Gaunts/Boots Primal Rapier (for low defense monsters and dogs) Sagittarian Bow (for sniping, quick range hybriding, and dogs) Defense gearid Primal Legs Sagittarian body (switch this with Primal Plate) Optimal bind combos Keying-only: Baxe/Platebody/Platelegs/Hood/Laws (range body isn't that useful for a keyer) Keying-sometimes: 2h/Platebody/Platelegs/Hood/Laws DPS(Melee/Range): 2h/Hex/Sag Body/Hood/Sag Arrows (sometimes it's better to have high magic defense and range pray than vice versa) DPS(Melee/Mage): 2h/Cat Staff/Platebody/Hood/CSB DPS(Melee): 2h/Blood/Platebody/Hood/Laws
  8. for keying plate is the obv choice but i rarely dung outside of my perm team anymore so im pretty much a pure dps role. when you spend a lot of time in huge monster piles i think neck actually ends up being comparable (but still very clearly worse) than plate in terms of survivability for a dps oriented person
  9. just got a blood neck today. i'm liking it a lot - i seriously question plate > neck
  10. haters gonna hate (lol this was totally accidental, i ggs'ed by total accident and i find grimy killing an ediumU)
  11. golvellius is like medusa if you look at him too long youre too stunned to do anything btw are you bill o reilly irl grimy and i were talking about how good catalytic staff would be. i think i'd do it as my 4th bind.
  12. Its relevant because, like I said before, Jagex is pretty pathetic in its attempts to generate "emergent" gameplay This event is just one example among many and more to come
  13. 99 magic (for defense?) 99 hp 99 sum for kc 92-96 pray for ovls 99 pray 99 range 99 attack 99 defense 99 strength at least 3 chaotics (crossbow, rapier for kc, maul) several mil for supplies full pernix divine
  14. What jettrider said... there's a lot of small details this guide is missing or are really inaccurate
  15. several things: -- i dont generally waste time with low food drops at a table. also, if the table produces bad loots, buy runes over a TK because it's always faster to gate home and buy a TK than to buy a TK and then run home to make more runes -- bobs can be made lossless (ie without wasting time). use low charms only and pick up low level bags. make them only when you see a obelisk on ur path (never ht to make it) theyre still pretty useless but as long as youre being smart about how you make it, it's cheap and potentially could save you 3-4 food in the long run. -- zerker is pretty much the only ring choice for non-keyers. zerker is much better than tact. having a plate bind makes certain things a lot easier (you can tank zombies and skeles w/o pray -> more pray for turm/ss/prots)
  16. If you want to range while you dwarfcannon or if you don't like dwarfcannon, handcannon is a viable choice if: you have high def/food to compensate for shield loss you have high fm you have extra inventory space for 2-3 extra HCs
  17. just to clarify what i meant by lrc: high availability of gold and coal makes smithing easier to train also, superheat
  18. always thought the random LRC/dung/etc were the "smith" updates
  19. thats different cause youre supposedly doing it for a goal (leveling mining), and if youre not idk why youre at lrc lol. lol when people have odd tastes and preferences i just see them as silly. i just see like... no inherent entertainment value. why not make a set of melee armor? like of all things, why would you farm -__-. if you think mage armor looks cool just make it your avatar and then you can look at it all the time like i said, im not yelling at you for being inefficent b/c you choose to do so out of taste and not ignorance. i'm just telling you straight up that i find your tastes absurd. if you saw someone wearing underwear on their head wouldnt you chuckle inside? also, i already addressed what you edited (about skilling xp). its a legitimate reason if ur team is fine with it. i find it weird because mage armor is basically useless against bosses... if the boss is already weak to mage it's faster to just go in and start maging rather than spend the time and make armor. so if youre in it for the speed, the armor is pointless. in other words, if you like the feeling of doing a boss "fully prepared", you are actually making it harder for yourself (you spend time away from your team, you could have made other things that actually help you prepare better like mage pots, etc.). you should have more of this "preparedness" feeling had you been making pots or making extra runes or vengs. so the only entertainment value i'd reasonably see is if you like the looks graphically or something. otherwise, your preferences are kinda misguided and, like i said, odd. not wrong per se b/c they're ultimately opinions, but just weird. lol i have a hard time believing that if all of you fully skill you can get sub 35 dungs. skilling is the #1 reason for disorder in a team... anyway, sure, whatever, as long as you arent making useless items at a higher priority than useful items then whatever. again - it's weird to me that you think that youre doing something to "feel productive" and totally be conscious that it really isn't.
  20. I'm curious as to why. b/c ur doing something that's really boring imo, and youre being really inefficient in the process the only times where i choose to be inefficient is if it makes my life easier or if it's actually entertaining to me (like pvp or dung, neither of which support my long term goals). idk how anyone basically picking flax (which farming in dung basically is) or cutting trees is entertained, lol... you just sit there and watch your character do stuff. versus pvm or pvp where you actually play a very active role in doing things and killing stuff. obviously skilling inside dung is different than skilling outside - cause u can skill outside to get xp but for skilling in a dung you get no benefit other than a (theoretically) easier floor. idk maybe you do it during dungs for the small bits of xp but it sounds like you arent. logdot has HLF friends afaik
  21. The problem is that even when you provide reasonable (not necessarily concrete) evidence, often people are too stubborn to believe it. I think logdot has made a fair effort in trying to cite sources in the past and people didn't really believe him, so I can understand where he's coming from. Yea, chess is probably more stressful in terms of brainpower, youre right... suddenly i'm remembering how nerve wracking blitz and some long games were Viable 4th binds: Cat staff Hex Blood Neck Platelegs + range top Gaunts/Boots Normal sagg shortbow, primal spear, or ;primal rapier, possibly (good for dogs; shortbow for sniping)
  22. inb4 logdot invokes FT chat o wait 2 late Like I said, as long as you realize fully that what ur doing is suboptimal, whatever, I'll still laugh at you but I won't really care. Just don't encourage others to do the same. It sounds like you aren't, so fine
  23. LOL'D As a rule of thumb, read whatever Golv has to say. Then laugh at it OT: Rapier. CLS is marginally more useful (arguable) in a bunch of rare cases but rapier is by far the better overall choice
