  1. I've collected slightly more data on the matter, and a chaotic crossbow at frost dragons (after the multiple dragons attacking you at once patch) degrades at about 75k gp/hour I said 60k/hr earlier, but my data pool wasnt quite as large as it is now. the degrading system works a little different from barrows for example It doesn't degrade instantly when you enter combat. Perhaps it is degrading in secret, like a crystal bow, before dropping another % The exact mechanics aren't know. The degrading rate might actually not be a steady rate. I'm curious if it is anything like PvP weapons, where wielding and using even 1 attack = 1 minute. Whatever it is, it definitely is not that. Casual combat (kill and wait) degrades it a lot slower than constant combat (like frost dragons), and both degrade it MUCH slower than the stated 200k per hour.
  2. I'm not sure I follow you. The fact that there are an enormous excess of low level quests means that, rather than making higher level quests, we need instead to make low level quests that require other low level quests? What I mean is that there are so many low-level quests that players who haven't already done them shouldn't need a lot of new quests; thus, quests should be targeted at players who have already done lots of quests. And I believe those players are most interested in finishing off incomplete storylines with quests like Ritual of the Mahjarrat and tying up loose ends with quests like Glorious Memories. Sure, I absolutely agree. I also think that when wrapping up storylines, there's a fanastic opportunity to also offer an incentive to get some levels up. Wrapping up storylines needs to be an exercise in pushing the max skills required for quests, as quests that require quests are aimed at people who are less new. It'll be really sad if something like Ritual of the Mahjarrat comes out and there's only requirements in the low 80s because Jagex is afraid to make a truly difficult quest. It's not something you should be able to play after a few months, and 80 is less than 1/4 of the way to 99 in any given skill. If you don't want your skills that high, there's 309 quest points currently catering to your level group and more doubtlessly on the way-- have at it.
  3. CLS can be anywhere from marginally worse than a whip + defender on monsters with no defense, such as living rocks, to roughly 1.2x faster if you're missing 50%+ of the time even with the CLS CLS is pretty good compared to the ZS, perhaps always better, not 100% sure. abby demons are not a low defense monster, they're one of the higher defense monsters out there. But the chaotic rapier would kill the fastest, followed by CLS, followed by whip. rapier can never be less than ~1.10x faster than a whip if you're using the right combat style. CLS can however, be ~0.98x as fast as a whip, if the monster's defense is very low. THIS. If you get a CLS, you're NOT slaying with it (well, I mean, you COULD, but it'd be a gigantic waste). I also wouldn't worry about using the CR for very easy tasks due to the money- try it out a couple times first and watch just how cheap it is. I can typically get through something like hellhounds with CR and pay 40k for the recharge. 40k for finishing the task that much faster? You could pay the difference out of extra runes bought with the better rate of slayer points per hour. It's so cheap I never put down my CR for anything; I just have to rarely go to Daemonheim and pay the dude ~500k, big deal.
  4. It's clearly a giant radioactive dwellberry pie.
  5. Anyone? If you truly had an unlimited amount of money, I think smithing rune plates and mining gold in the LRC while alching the ores would be fastest, but that's just off the top of my head. I suppose you'd then barrage rock lobsters for your magic exp. You'd get magic xp from alching. But it would be very stupid to alch your ores when you can superheat them without losing time. I think he meant to ask whether Granite + smithing rune plates would be faster, which might be true, but then you lose out on magic xp. But you bank your gold ores when you superheat them, right? So if you alch them you never have to bank. I imagine it would be faster to alch them. Alching would be quite slow I'd think. The deposit box is rather close to the rocks and usually you can only just superheat all the ores before your inventory is full.

  7. The assumption that not getting the best gear/stats is more efficient for 99 slayer is only valid if: A) you are never, EVER going to upgrade your equipment or train herblore/prayer AFTER getting 99 slayer, B) you never boss hunt now or in the future, and C) you give up slayer and all other forms of combat completely after you reach 99. The typical player does enough combat outside of training 99s, be it for fun, profit, or highscores rank, that the proposition that not ever getting 95 prayer, 96 herb, 80 dung, and the best combat gear possible is MORE efficient is laughable. It's not saving any time to first focus on getting 99 slayer with crappy gear/stats and THEN spend the money to upgrade- you just did slayer slowly for no reason whatsoever. And then, beyond the argument of pure efficiency, having the best damage per second faster is a hell of a lot more fun. I'd go through hell to get an extra few strength bonus because being the best at combat is one of the few things that really matters to me in this game (see: 300 rank in MA lol).
  8. The problem is having to excessively grind for content... Also, whats the problem with low requirements? The problem with low requirement content is that either it gets used up and tossed out extremely quickly, or it has disproportionately useful rewards for the level requirements. The game is absolutely flooded with low requirement content- I can't understand how anyone could consider themselves in need of an update before they've reached high level (at least an average level of 80, including combats). There's an overwhelming number of quests and not a single one with a requirement that could be considered difficult in the big picture. If you don't want high level content to come out, then finish what's already on your plate. Jagex has spent the last 10 years working on your level group 99% of the time. It won't kill you to have one quest you can't do released.
  9. Um... wow. I personally don't enjoy Soul Wars, but I wouldn't say that Nomad's Requiem is an illegitimate quest because of its tie-ins, nor would I make such sweeping negative generalizations about the people who DO enjoy it. I actually quite like Conquest, reminds me of Chess. I felt its inclusion in a Void storyline was only natural. A fairly negative, narrow-minded article.
  10. All of this assumes that money is the ultimate goal of Runescape. If you play for total levels, you will have a very different (and equally valid) outlook. After all, after a certain point (99 in all buyables, best equipment for any given situation), money becomes pointless.
  11. I think that's BEST, yeah, but I'm saying that if I have a choice between having a reason to get a stat up 2 levels and having a reason to get it to 99, I'd choose the 99, because that would keep me busy for longer. Edit: and yes, by the way, plenty of people level Herblore for untradeable potions despite the fact that they don't start until the 80s. Are you kidding?
  12. Herblore has no real reason to level until special recovers at 84 (and a few quest reqs at like 60). I'm okay with this. The world did not implode.
  13. Yeah, it's much better to let the game stall out with most skills having no reason to go beyond 70-ish.
  14. Everyone has satisfaction when grinding to reach a specific goal. Even me. However, EXCESSIVE grinding (50+ hours) with no goal in sight is not good game design. Then don't do the quest when/if it comes out. The fact is, a lot of people plan on getting 99 in everything, and like to have landmarks to hit on the way. If you don't think getting your stats high enough for something very difficult and high level is worth it, DON'T, but don't oppose such updates just because you aren't ready to work for them yet.
  15. I got 99 herb during a bonus xp weekend, getting myself ~750 4 dose overloads in the process. Now I can make strong survivalist potions without first making a naturalist potion, which is one of the few very useful skills to have in Dungeoneering.
  16. Yeah, by all means if you enjoy a skill 99 it. I was more talking about low levels who feel like they NEED a 99 for some reason and go through hell to get their fletching cape or whatever so they can feel 1337, when in reality there's nothing noobier looking than a level 90 in an untrimmed fletching cape.
  17. I think lower levels going for things like woodcutting capes are missing the point a bit. At low levels especially there are so many things to do BESIDES 99s that will perhaps be more helpful, like getting chaotic weapons or 88 summoning or the stats for WGS or stats for elite diaries or high enough combat to be effective at bosses or turmoil or extremes or whatever. As you get to a higher level, you find that there are fewer things you NEED and start looking for more stuff to do, and more often than not a skillcape pops up as one of those things that would be cool to have. That's how my slayer cape came about.
  18. Yes, because those poor people without the proper levels will NEVER EVER have a chance to train up to them. To me, the only "screw you" happening here is from Jagex to the people with high levels in skills like crafting or smithing. They absolutely refuse to give many skills any sort of use (outside of minigames, particularly dungeoneering, though only noobs waste time making armor there). Quest requirements are an excellent opportunity to make SOME incentive to train an otherwise dead skill. And for those who don't have the levels yet? Congratulations, you now get to train to that level for a GOAL rather than just grinding for the sake of grinding. That's a lot more fun. If you don't like grinding levels to reach a goal, then what the hell are you DOING on this game?
  19. Hahaha, awesome point. This sword is a sure-fire Dharok-killer.
  20. Back in the old days we actually had to walk to the location we were needed at. Everyone is in such a hurry these days and nobody has time to take a nice walk from Ice Mountain to Taverley Dungeon while smelling the fresh, clean Catherby wind blowing through Taverley.... Im starting to sound like my grandpa... Ah yes, back in the days when they didn't have the resources to make a legitimately long quest, so they put in fluff like "walk to the middle of nowhere" and "gather this seemingly random pile of items." I do not miss those days. I used to HATE questing because it always meant running back and forth for an hour.
  21. so is it expected that they will drop in street or will they actually fall to ge max? My understanding is that, rather than divines crashing, it's more that partyhats are rising. So no, no GE price any time soon.
  22. You've got me thinking...well, isn't it also the best spec weapon for the Corp now? I think magic damage is not halved against the corp, but it's relative DPS against ranged/melee is so low (plus his magic defense) that its not worth it. BUT, doesn't that mean that the mage-based damage from the special would deal magic damage to the corp (aka, full damage, not halved) with 100% accuracy? EDIT: best spec weapon for FFA corp I meant. A couple things- first off, when you're chaining hits against opponents, the bonus damage appears to go out the window. I took the thing on a Bandos solo and never hit above around 300 with the spec, which I assume is because it kept chaining to the melee minion humping my leg. That makes it approximately useless for GWD. Second, I do a lot of Corp FFA and was not impressed with the sword spec there either. It generally hit around 50 exp worth of damage, only once breaking 100 exp in over 10 specs (so I assume that it does indeed trigger the non-spear damage reduction). That places it significantly worse than the average ZS hit, even taking 0s into account. Add in the pain in the ass of switching weapons and the loss of Excalibur specials to restore overload damage, and it's not a viable option.
  23. Had an idea about thieving brawlers, tell me what you think: So you go to a non pvp world and collect a ton of summer sq'uirks. Bank enough to use up the gloves, and make juice from them. Then get an inventory full, hop to a pvp world, and trade them in with your gloves on for massive exp. Minimal risk and major exp. Better than Pyramid Plunder?
  24. Last time I tried to solo Graardor it was the middle of the day and I went through about 5 worlds before I found an empty one. It was plenty annoying. Edit: Note that this was before he started dropping ourg bones, probably is worse now.
  25. Well, Zamorak Godwars certainly is never crowded lol. The other bosses (Sara and Arma, not Bandos) are only moderately populated even at peak times. You're right though, Bandos didn't need it. Funny that they gave HIM the good bones, huh? The Godwars bosses are all linked together. They share the dungeon and are very similar to fight. It's kind of as if they altered the barrows so that if you just kill Verac and then go to the chest you have a much better chance of getting a piece of his armor than if you did that with any of the other barrows brothers, so you end up with more Verac items in the market. That would just be a bizarre decision that brings way more Verac items into the game than any other kind of barrows items.
