  1. you mean like this? http://www.tip.it/runescape/?rs2quest
  2. Hmm not seen any complaints about clan wars yet. Then again, i stay well clear of RSOF on update days. I played today for the first time in ages to try it out and i think it's great. Not sure what people would have to complain about it.. you can play it exactly how it used to be, we just have more options now.. if you don't like the new opts don't use em. The free-for-all thing is quite fun.. ultimatly pointless, but fun all the same.
  3. Yes i dont think you understand me. A melee/range hit has a chance to hit between 1 and your max, and also hit a 0. Mage has a chance to hit between 1 and your max, and also hit a 0, it also has a chance to splash or 'fail'. the 0 hit and splash both have the same net result i.e. you don't do damage. but they're two different possibilities meaning more chance of it happening. This means more casts that do no damage and less overall damage done by the caster.
  4. Range and melee don't splash, they hit zeroes.. mage hits zeroes and splashes. And in general it has a far higher miss rate than melee/range.
  5. QFT. I tried to solo her in max mage and barrage (ahrims, seers, inf boots, book etc) with 99 mage and it splashes a lot. I guess god spells are a little more accurate than barrage, although you don't get the freeze. You're way better off using melee or range whether solo or team. Feel free to try it out and report back.. but in my experience it fails hard.
  6. To add to what's been said.. did you just cut and paste the things he's holding from game icons? they're both fully shaded when the rest of the picture has no shading at all.. i mean, look at the size of them, it'd be quicker to draw them from scratch than to spend the time cutting them out. #-o
  7. [hide=Pandemonium Warden] [/hide] I read the blogs of a couple of guys that were in that fight, It's pretty insane. Makes you wonder if SE took responsible gaming into consideration when they designed it. I mean.. i've raided on a few games, you usually spend an hour or so clearing trash then 15-30 minutes killing the boss, and the boss will tire you out just having to focus intently for that long, but 18 hours!? I heard somewhere that Se intended it to be killed in shifts.. so you'd have say 4 teams that each took it for a few hours, but nobody knew about the length of the fight beforehand. You can imagine being 4 hours into the fight thinking 'surely it must be nearly dead' not knowing there's another 14 hours+ ahead of you.
  8. I realised it was fake as soon as i got to the names of the lawyers. Cheatem is from the old joke about dewey, cheatem and howe. Hutz is from the simpsons.. Lionel Hutz. Not sure about pearson but that's probably a reference to something. As i read on it became more and more obviously fake. Anyone that read that an believed it didn't engage their brain.
  9. Really interesting site. I put in my grandmothers maiden name, which is quite an uncommon and old fashioned surname, and all 5 of the top cities list where adjacent to where she was brought up. I guess it shows how that name never really spread from its area of origin.
  10. A lot depends on str bonus.. if you only have the str from your weapon with no pots or pray your max is going to be in the mid 20's. Get good gear and it'll push it into the 30's.
  11. Actually Rune crossbow on long range has exactly the same range as ancient spells. I used it a lot in duel tournaments. Still, it's an extra click for the ranger from rapid to long-range and an extra hit the mage gets i guess.
  12. Myweponsg00d made a good point that i forgot about, and why i think you might be looking at this the wrong way. Mage on it's own has never been good for PvP. It's best used as a backup to either range or melee, either for holds so you can get close to them to get a melee hit in, or to get extra damage and a hold on someone that sticks up a prot prayer. If you take a look around bounty hunter, or old pk vids, or even duel tourney's you'll see that nobody solely uses mage. Also, Doomsavenger is quite right, in a mage vs. mage duel blood barrage/blitz is the way to go.. it was my staple spell when i mage staked. Barrage was an absolute must if you're staking obstacles so you can trap over corners. For mage vs. melee.. well i'm not sure when that situation would come up in real PvP, if you're a mage attacking a meleer, he's either going to have mage or range himself. PvPing with a single discipline severly limits yourself.
  13. I think there's quite a few reasons. For one, you only need 3 types of runes. All the other types of ancient take 4 runes meaning 1 lost inventory space. It's also relatively cheap compared to the other spells as they don't use souls. The freezing effect is arguably the most useful of all ancient spells and it also has the highest max hit. I do agree that shadow would be a useful spell if used in conjunction with ice, but again that means sacrificing half your invent to different rune types. Ice barrage vs. modern mage: again i think invent vs. utility is another problem. To hold your opponent and damage you need to use 2 spells that use 2 completely different rune sets, it also means 2 seperate spells to cast (and these both have to be cast manually) and you also need to be wearing the cape and staff which means an extra click to equip dds/godsword. I also think the lack of TB has caused a decline in the use of modern mage. Back in the old wild teams needed[/] a tber to get kills. Once they'd teleblocked their target they could use the godspells, tangles etc and be backed up by ancients. With no tb, there's no direct need for a modern mage in pvp.. ancients can do the damage easier and more effective. Hopefully when these PvP worlds come out they'll reinstate tb and we'll see a rise in modern mages again.
  14. I agree with ford_landau on this one. 'wacky fun stuff' detracts from a believable game world. It goes from being a world you could imagine living in to a selection of unrelated mini-games that you use a world map to move between.
  15. I tried it out for an hour and it is nice and fast, it's not a firefox beater though.. more an IE replacement for the casual user. Lack of add-ons is annoying, and i dont really like the look of it.. maybe it'll be customisable in the future. It is damn fast though. One thing i think would be quite useful for is as a replacement to the runescape client, using the webapp feature. You can create a direct link straight to the runescape app without that annoying sidebar that the rs client has, plus it runs through googles engine not IE. here's what it looks like:
  16. Well it's a good idea in principle, I just don't really see where it would be useful. The main drawback is that bunyips need raw food, while the players need cooked, if you take half raw, half cooked food in your inv there's going to be a point where you have one type left and be out of the other. In PvP they can kill the yip leaving you with a lot of useless raws in your invent, also there are better pvp familiars(a fighter with a good attack scroll or even BoB would be better). At bosses again you need to work out the split of raws vs. cooked, and at most bosses brews and rests are a better option. You would last much longer either with a titan/uni or a tortoise full of extra brews than you would with a yip. That leaves general monster killing: training/slayer etc. I've never really needed more healing than the yips normal ability, maybe a backup shark, but then losing a combat turn barely makes a difference when training.
  17. Another month of no RS for me. Clan wars looks interestng though. I'm guessing the free for all option will just be pits without the lobby or tokul reward then?
  18. New desktop for a new month and you couldn't get much closer to the start of the month.. 56 seconds in XD There's always something i'm not happy with when i reskin and this time it's my firefox theme. Updated to ff3 today and there's no decent skins available. Oh and to the guy's above.. XP all the way. I've used vista and can't stand it. Edit: decided i was tired of all that icon clutter and deleted it all. Here's my new clean desktop.
  19. I had acne from about 14-15 right up until i was 20. It wasn't terrible, just a few across my forehead and maybe an occaisional one on my cheek, but i constantly had them. I don't think there was a point in those 5 years where i didn't have 4 or 5. I had a good diet and tried all the prescribed stuff but it made no difference. Then when i was 20 they just went away, all in the period of a few weeks and havn't really been back. i get one or two every few months but that's about it. It's weird that after 5+ years of treating it to no effect they ended up just getting bored and leaving :P
  20. I was already 400k from 99 slayer when the update came out so i didn't really spend too much time slaying with the new method, but the tasks i had were massively repetitive. From 1-98 slayer i never had a task repeat but they changed it with the update. I really dont understand why as it gave good variety. My longest streak was 4 abyssal tasks of 180+ in a row. Really not as fun as it sounds.
  21. Well yes and no. The main thing that started the surge in prices was the GE's price changing system. Because it can't deal with low trade volume items very well most 3rd age got stuck. The same things happen with other items, but due to the volativity of the 3rd age market, the rareness, and the relative uselessness of the items it's a magnet for merchanters. Once the prices got stuck they ran out of control, driven by the merchanters, until they got stuck in their own kind of economy. The phats/3rd age/junk market is really quite out of touch with the general economy so you cant really equate the prices to GP or regular item value. Saying a 3rd age helm is worth 200m or w/e it is doesn't really mean anything except in relation to other junked items percieved worth, once the gp market catches up to the junk market i.e. the ge value matches the junking value, the bottom completely drops out and the item crashes as seen with ZGS and top hats.
  22. A friend of mine went from 90-99 attack and 90-99 strength at dust devils and didn't get a chain. It's really not worth killing them in the hope to get as a drop. Dusties do have nice drops though, rune arrows, runes, alchables and charms make them a nice monster to kill.
  23. You cant assist trees anymore.
  24. I think the prices of 3rd age are something that will always have to be manually changed by Jagex, simply because of the price control system. First off though, as soon as the GE price gets close to player value, demand will crash. It happened notably with ZGS; they were adjusted to 60m then fell instantly, it's happened withy other junked items too. But once GE value and player value are stabilised, it's still not going to update as it should. 3rd age items are some of the least traded items in the game and can also be some of the most volatile, something that the GE just can't handle as we've seen in the past. Yes, Jagex have got their work cut out to keep this market alive.
  25. afaik the only monster with a better charm rate in Ct is black demons, they drop lots of crim there but hardly any in teh rest of the world. I've bursted nechs in CT and meleed them in the tower and i never noticed any difference in any drops.
