  1. Can you explain where in the rules it states this? i went through it in my previous post in this thread and IMO there's nothing explicit on the subject. Yes i'm with you on this. Although they need to add it to the written rules. Currently they can easily ban you under the RWT blanket for sharing a boss drop via BH, even if no real world money or service is being traded for it, it's nigh on impossible to prove and Jagex can easily turn round and say 'we have evidence to believe you were RWTing' whether you were or weren't. If they add a line to the rules saying that an unbalanced trade outside of the 3k-30k limit is against the rules then they will have a legit way of stopping it.
  2. Well there's a fine line between cheating/bug abuse and emergent gameplay in this case. While it is clear that it's not intended to happen, and i'm positive Jagex doesn't want it to happen, i'd argue that it neither falls under bug abuse nor cheating. Bounty hunter was designed to allow the transferral of items between players via one player killing another. There is always a risk of someone else killing you, if you rogue kill the chance greatly increases and the game becomes more dangerous. There's no game mechanic to ensure that every fight is between 2 equally geared players both trying to kill each other. It's no fault in the coding of the game etc. that allows someone to intentionally die to another person. I would classify it as bug abuse if Jagex added measures to prevent this, and then players found a way to get around it, but as it stands, no bugs are being exploited. As for cheating (you didn't specify whether you thought this fell under cug-abuse or cheating so i'll assume you meant both), well the actual rules on the knowledgebase page R.E. cheating are slight and don't go into detail but the main points are bug abusing (already covered above) and gaining an unfair advantage. Now i'd see this being applicable if it's a main transferring to a pure, this has always been against the rules, and doing it via BH is no different to drop trading pre-trade limit etc. However if it is 2 players splitting a boss drop for example.. both players worked towards getting that drop, they are just using the mechanics of bounty hunter to split the loot. Nobody gains an unfair advantage as both players worked for the items. So while it's clear that this isn't intentional and probably looked down on by Jagex, there's nothing explicit in the rules that forbids it. That being said, you'd have a hard time to prove that it isn't for RWT if Jagex does decide to bring the banhammer down.
  3. I killed 1 for luck on every abyssal and dark beast task from 85-99 slay and never got a drop from it
  4. I'm in the same boat as you.. nothing at all to do so i stopped playing. No point in playing the game if you're bored of it. I'd suggest waiting until the PvP update at the end of the year.. i'll resub again when it comes out to see if it's any good. If it's a hit i'll probably carry on playing again.
  5. With your stats i think you're getting about as many kills as you can. you should probably take a super defense pot though, or a brew and swap 1 prayer pot for a super restore.
  6. laid down about 80% fixing the E with run :P Dunno how useful a list would be, i fix stuff occaisionally depending on how bored i am/how many times i wanna switch my ip. I'll usually use anywhere between 20% and 300% ink depending on when they reset etc.
  7. Perception is NOT better in this case. Facts are what we're after, and they're what should be given. The number which disappeared after so many shots was useful, but the most useful thing would be exp/hour. That would concretely tell us which bolt is the best. Indeed. And i think a better test would be broad/mithril/addy since mithril used to be the old staple training bolt and is similarly priced. I already know that broad blows them out of the water but it would be interesting to see by how much. Addys are still useful for diamond/ruby bolts for boss hunting but mithril really don't have a use now. It looks like yet another nerf to the smithing skill as mith bolts were a viable training option. Similar to how infinite stock of bronze knives killed the iron knife smithing market, t trails killed rune smithing etc.
  8. Haha wow i remember that one. But for me the ultimate old-school screensaver is Afterdark's coffee shop one on the mac. From the same program that had the flying toasters.
  9. R.I.P. rants forum. Your misguided badly spelt threads kept me laughing through the dark times.
  10. I vote 2. The colours seem to balance a lot better and aren't so in-your-face as the green and red tinted ones and it's a lot mroe vibrant than the first.
  11. Can you link me to where it says that in the official rules?
  12. There's technically nothing wrong with doing an unbalanced trade. Transferring money to one of your own accounts is against the rules as it's classified as an unfair advantage, but trading it to someone else is legal. It's a bit of a loophole as, while it goes against the idea of the balanced trade system, the written rules only state that trading items for real world money or services is forbidden. And if you're just trading 3k at a time to a family member that isn't at all against the rules. no they don't. Why would they? look under their rules under real world trading and look at their definition: Mentions nothing about giving money to family members, you just cant sell/recieve real world benifits for it.
  13. Companies aren't just generous for the sake of it. No company simply thinks 'hmm i'm in a good mood today, lets give them a bit extra'. It's all done with a reason, be it to generate more revenue/customers, or to increase the reputation of the company, or to bolster loyalty among its existing customers. In the case of Runescape, i would say it's the first option. The game has barely grown in over a year, if anything the total number has declined slightly. I said in a post on another thread that it's a typical stage in an MMO's lifecycle, where all the people that are likely to be interested in playing it are playing already and the game no longer increases in size. RS is clearly in this stage and if you look at some recent F2p updates, a lot are geared towards creating a better first impression in the hope to keep more of the people that just sign up to see what it's like.
  14. well, on the dagger topic: in every other RPG i've played, mage classes use daggers as a backup/close-quarters attack weapon, with a staff/wand as a main hand weapon. In runescape, classes are completely ignored in the traditional sense.. everyone can do everything and there's no penalty for using a whip while you mage as oppose to being limited by daggers. I guess daggers having +1 mage is an attempt to encourage traditional classing in RS. edit: heh Omali beat me to it :P edit 2: On that note.. wearing boots of lightness/spottier cape to get a negative weight should create a force lifting you into the air
  15. Well it seems like a legit site, apparently it has a fairly big following although i'd never heard of it before. It's odd that jagex didnt announce it though, they repeatedly tell us to "only enter your password on
  16. Agreed. There didn't seem to be much insight or understanding into the way the GE works, or how players use it, or even basic understading of economics. "Jagex controlled the economy, adjusting it accordingly to the demand and supply, rather than the popularity of the item." made me cringe.. they imposed a trade limit yes, but they don't manually adjust the prices except in very extreme situations. This kind of practice happens in real life and in real economies, generally not as strict as some of the GE's limits (although some governments have) it's interesting to see how theoretical models of real life trade restrictions can be applied to the RS economy. All i got from this was an acknowledgement that there are different opinions of the GE: 'these people don't like it for x reason, these people like it for y.' I think it would have been better to examine these reasons.. are they really justified in thinking this way? ok, people don't like the GE because of x, but what effect does x really have on players/the economy? questions like that would make for an interesting read and not just tell us what we all knew already. Sorry for being harsh, but it's an interesting subject and you touched upon some interesting areas for discussion, but you stopped at the gates as it were and just stated the obvious.
  17. Looking at it in terms of how the game was intended to be played, i think rogue killing needs some adjustment. Right now, people play it as if it was the old mage bank. Rogue killing in 1v1 dms, or hybrid teaming. While this is the kind of pking i love, the restrictions put in to try and make people play the game make it frustrating to play the old fashioned way, and it's not the way Jagex intended it to be played. For example the single combat until someone hunting you comes along rule makes it pj city if you're trying to have a straight 1v1, and the fact that you can just leave if you get a rogue kill encourages maxed str or void/d-bow pjers to hug the walls. I think if jagex really want the game to be played as intended, a good move would be to remove the pickup penalty (allowed to leave but prot-item disabled) and make it so when you get a rogue kill you get the 'can't leave for...' penalty straight away. This would encourage people to target hunt and stop spec-and-runners from pjing. Of course, this would make it easiers to lure.. i'm not sure exactly how to combat that but it's a step in the right direction. Of course with these changes as well i'd like to see more minigames that allow dangerous PvP that allow old-style pking without all the frustrating restrictions. A proper 1v1 arena and a proper team arena is badly needed that isn't just a way to stop RWT with a flimsy minigame built around it. I agree with earlier points as well about more level brackets. 58-112 is such a huge bracket and really makes the game unplayable for anyone under 80 cb before summon. 58-80 and 80-112 would be a reasonable split and give fairer fights. Especialy if Jagex wants the game to be played as they intended. Currently there's no chance of anyone 58-80 being able to bounty hunt effectively. More often than not their target is going to be over 100cb but added craters will give them much more chance of a fair fight.
  18. XKCD.com is my all-time favourite webcomic. Its tagline is 'A webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language.' and it's a wonderfully geeky comic. When i first found it i read every strip in one night. The best thing about it is how varied the strips can be. Some are jokes only complete maths geeks would get, others are laugh-out-loud funny with jokes that anyone would get, and others are brilliantly romantic. Heres a few favourites: [hide=] [/hide]
  19. Lack of anything to do for me. I left the game about a month ago since i literally have nothing to do anymore. All my skills are at a useful level, i have all the money and items i could want, i've killed every boss in the game solo and in a team and i have 8 skillcapes under my belt. Nothing will replace my slayer cape so i dont see the need in training another skill to 99 just for the cape. PvP was the only thing really keeping me in the game, but it's quite lacking at the moment. These 3 new games coming this year will possibly tempt me back, i'll certainly resub to try them out. I realised it was time to leave rs when for about 3 days in a row i'd log in, look at my bank for 5 minutes, realise i had nothing to do and log out lol. I think all the recent updates have a lot to do with me leaving too, not that they're terrible updates, it's just the game is so different now to the game i fell in love with. I liked the old shoddyness of the graphics, and things like world 2 fally, w22 duel arena, w18 edge etc and i think without them, a lot of the character of the game is gone. Also, ever since the graphics update, the interfaces seem clumbsy and unresponsive.. small niggle i know and it might be down to my computer, but the bank especially really annoys me. It seems to take forever to recognise clicks and doesnt seem as intuitive as the old one.
  20. D Jay99 is incorrect.. if you've done tarns lair once you can just get the book back from your bookcase in your house. If you've actually lost the amulet.. you'll need to go back through the haunted mine. refer to the haunted mine quest guide on getting back through. (you need to go up to the bit where you obtain it in the quest, which is basically at the end)
  21. I tried rcing with an abyssal familiar and i honestly believe its more effort than it's worth. It is slightly faster than using a terrorbird via abyss, but you need to do so many extra clicks per run. It's an extra click to bank again, extra click to open familiars invent, extra click to store ess, and a further 2 more clicks to open the summon tab and withdraw BoB. Thats not even counting the extra clicks to drink energy pots, and to withdraw them when you've drunk the 4 doses. Terrorbirds are simple, just an occaisional 2 clicks to open summon tab and click scroll. no extra banking/storing/withdrawing you get with the abyssals. Graahks def seem the way to go when you hit 91, but i'd rather craft deaths til then.
  22. Made mine myself.. its more fun  but if you want an auto-updating stat sig, draynor.net does the nicest looking ones.
  23. Well thats the thing.. RS is busy when people are awake, quiet when the majority are asleep.. if you really want to beat the crowds you have to pull some unsociable hours.
