Hm, well I haven't personally used it myself since I haven't booted into Ubuntu in forever and never had a need to check temps, but I do know this is what my friends use and I technically did have it installed lol. Quick little bit of Googling shows that you need to run the included "sensors-detect" to scan for all the sensors on your computer and then install the correct modules for lm to actually be able to work properly. After everything's setup, you should be able to get what you want with just "sensors". Source

Not discounting the talent of those on these forums, something as potentially destructive as a worm should probably be dealt with very thoroughly and carefully and G2G has fairly stringent practices.

That's a pretty large assumption there to be "a simple fact", especially if you actually read the notes of the reports that Symantec specifically requested not to be included in the analysis. In previous reports however, they have consistently performed at AV-comparative's Advanced or Advanced+ tiers. Before you jump the gun as to why Symantec opted out of the analysis, there are plenty of potential reasons, none of which conclusively state why it's not a good piece of software. Trend Micro has also historically been a fairly strong competitor, but has also opted out of recent analyses.

I would be very hesitant of making a new PVP account when the combat revamp is just around the corner. At the very most, I'd make an account and get some skills and cash on it before leveling any combat stats.

I've checked as well and not found anything conclusive, at least for the most recent version of NAV. Would you mind posting some of these reviews? The leak was of a small section of code from NAV 2006 and is obsolete anyway. Many malware writers are already aware of most modern techniques of thwarting malware. It's a constant battle really, but not something that really won or lost by having the company lose their source code, especially outdated stuff. Both sides are incredibly intelligent and fluent with what they do. Overall this reference to the leak is mostly a red herring as it still doesn't actually relate to the efficacy of NAV itself, perhaps only Symantec as a company (at best).

It certainly is but keep in mind that 1. With another helmet, you also have access to something that you can train melees with 2. You can train ranged within PC itself (albeit with at a 50% rate) 3. Void is also good for certain bosses 4. Getting it now is probably best because then you can make the most use out of it I would also recommend conquest. Personally it's my favourite minigame in RS and if you genuinely enjoy it feels a lot less grindy. You also can't fail to earn commendations (so long as you play the sufficient number of turns and actions) because they're dependent on how much time you spend.

It's a 10% accuracy boost and 20% boost to max hit so it's actually better than fsh on certain slayer tasks. As far as how long it'll take, I assume you'll take roughly 3 mins per round (incl time to fill lander and start a round) and use the novice lander. That makes 40 commendations an hour and this rate translates to roughly 21 hours of grind for a full set. If you account for random losses, rounds sometimes taking longer, and also perhaps learning conquest to get 1250 rating for deflector, I'd say 30 hours is a good estimate. As for if it's actually worth it or not, mainly meaning will it actually save you time on your way to 99, I don't really have a good number for you.

What other reviews? Looking solely at the contents of this review, it presents information in a fairly straightforward manner with little faffing about. They cite numerous 3rd party groups that test AV software for detection rates quite stringently. I guess you could say that they are only picking groups that have rated Norton favourably, but I personally haven't found any such source. I've always taken a slight issue with bashing sources, like how some people absolutely detest using Wikipedia in any capacity. Sure it's easily editable, but many of the well-written pages are properly cited and there's nothing stopping you from checking out the sources they reference to see if they check out. Although I don't like to cite informal anecdotal sources myself, I do know people who have stuck with Norton for a long time and while they admit it was really slow and a pain in the beginning, they really have improved their software in recent versions. The best? Perhaps not. Worth the money? Also questionable. Is currently the one of worst out there? I'd like to see some hard evidence to back that claim.

Well yes, but that can be said of AVs in general, not specifically Norton. People are berating Norton on how it's specifically an awful piece of software, but aren't justifying their claims for the latest versions. I know a lot of people who don't run AVs at all and are pretty much fine. VMs are best for sketchy stuff.

Based on what? Previous experiences? Unless you're still using Norton 2005, I don't think any of these complaints are still valid. I quite dislike unsubstantiated claims. This review pretty much outright refutes every single point raised. I used to frequent sites like av-comparatives and AV review sites because that was my thing, but I eventually fell out of the loop due to loss of interest (primarily due to a realization in regards to computer security) However, I'm still connected enough to know that Symantec has really upped their game in recent versions.

MEP2 will drive you crazy if you don't use a guide, but otherwise they're not bad no.

Getting a slayer task for Jad would also make things go even more smoothly. If you aren't already, you should also use flasks if you aren't feeling confident still. Otherwise Q's advice is what you want to go with.

I'm still not sure what you mean exactly. In what way is it actually one of the worst? Like you said, performance issues are significantly less apparent nowadays.

Engineer is the easiest class to play while still being useful. Excluding the quarian, the basic thing you need to do is just spam overload(when specced for chain shocks)/energy drain on everything you see to be useful. Amazing CC, strips shields, and unlike projectile abilities like warp/throw/concussion blast, they're instant casts, meaning enemies won't annoyingly dodge them. You'll occasionally throw in a proxy mine/drone/incinerate to be a little fancy, but it's really the engineer's ability to put out undodgeable CC that soften targets that makes him amazing. Infiltrators are probably the most OP class, but overall effectiveness if of course reliant on your ability to snipe or be ballsy and go shotgun infil.

Why is that? MSE is pretty solid and should really cover all your basic needs. I used to be a huge AntiVir fanboy, but I realized that regardless of the AV program, nothing protects you from derping. So I took the time to not derp and just have MSE mostly for show and for a few fringe uses.

I think it's 100% on first target, 50% on second, and then either 50% or 25% or on the third. Note that when you use it in multiway doesn't have a damage floor (whereas single target is guaranteed at least 50% of max hit)

If it works out to be optional then I could see it being almost the perfect update. Like keep traditional combat, but if you use the active one, you get more damage/additional effects. People can still AFK, but people who actually play get rewarded.

Technically summer ends on Sept 21.
