Why do people hate Runescape?
I get the embarrassed feeling telling that I play Runescape as well. I think it's because they would make fun of you, bad social life, etc. But screw them I'm going home to play where my real friends are/ I've said it before and I'll say it again. Sometimes my dad stops by the computer and looks over my shoulder while I play. Usually he sees me killing the Dagganoth Brothas, as that's what I usually do in game. I'm taking down Rex and running across the room slaughtering Supreme and running to the Northeast corner to mix it up and kill Prime a few times. Guess what? Throughout all of this, I am always embarressed as my dad watches me do it. Even at the Dagganoth Kings, arguably the toughest mons in the game, I'm embarressed to have my dad watch me play. I've never played WoW, barely know anything about it or what it even looks like, so I can't say it's better. What I can say though is that I bet many of you would be ashamed to tell your friends and others that you play Runescape. If not, please say so. I will also dare all of you to tell your close friends and family what you do in game. Feel free to tell them you're farming on the computer, or sitting in a bank for hours clicking on the same dang bow. No, seriously. If you can't tell them exactly what you do in this game, if you're too embarresed to say, then you probably shouldn't even be playing. Of course, if it's an addiction, kill it  !

Stupid PC products... The noobs of today!
Disclaimer: Okay, I just left to play a game of Ghost Recon after clicking the Submit button, and had my response to this post completely deleted when I returned. No, it wasn't a short one -.- . So if I seem ticked, or if thoughts seem incoherent, blame it on my hate of my internet connection >_>. I'm also just going to make my post in note form, so I get everything without going insane trying to reitarate it >_<. Response to "Ancient Magick Products": I don't think I know a soul alive who would Barrage to 99 Mage- at 2.5k a pop, and no insane level of speed (nor a clear cut way to get 9 easy targets situated to hit them constantly for hours), it's completely unorthodox. PC pays .5gp per exp point (Barrage is like 15 gp per exp point cost, depending on average hit) and most likely gains exp at the same speed, if not faster. Where did you hear about "Ancient Magick" products using Barrage for 99 Mage? Response to "'Gilded Altar' Products?": Few people had 99 Prayer before the Gilded Altar from ectoing and burying, so when it came out nearly everyone used it. And those who had 99 were already rich before and desiring to gain respect through being in the top 10 of Prayer (or even #1) so most kept on going and using the Gilded Altar. Therefore, it'd be hard for people to use the term "Gilder Altar products", as most would be hypocrites. I'm sure plenty of people would use it, but so few that the name wouldn't go very far. As for "Cook X" products, no name of hate really developed against the players. In fact, the real consequence of Cook X was complete disrespect by most players for the skill of cooking- it became just as bad as Fletching, making it unofficially a "worthless 99". Hate wasn't directed toward the players in this case, rather it was later driven towards the skill itself. With the disrespect redirected at the skill of Cooking the players got off the hook. Moving on, you hit the nail on the head with your ending statement. What is the first thing you see when you look at someone? Their Herblore level? Their Cooking level? Magic, Thieving, Crafting? No, you see their combat level. For that reason combat levels have become a huge target, as it's much easier to see relations of higher and lower Combat level in game instead of having to look up everyone's Herblore level that you pass. Like in the case of the author, 118 combat was the first thing he noticed when he realized the players sheer stupidity, not his Mining level. With the advent of the incredibly easy PC, and more and more stupid, immature 110+'s that can be easily recognized in a crowd (as well as sudden rise in more mature 110+'s of course), the term "PC product" gained fame.

Lol. I think that they should have a little intellegence to know where west Ardounge is (I mean, COME ON! Maybe in Ardounge, idiots?). But, you would think that higher combat = more time playing = more information about the game. But I disagree with that. What about people who don't like combat? Technically, if you can make this argument, you would also make the argument along the lines of, "That guy has a higher woodcutting level. Higher woodcutting level = more time playing Runescape = he knows more about Runescape than the other person, with a lower level." But that's not true at all. I'm sure the woodcutter knows a lot about woodcutting, but we can't be sure that he knows a lot about everything else. Someone who got to level 118 WITHOUT the use of PC could easily make this same mistake (about not knowing where Ardougne is). S/he obviously just spends all of his/her time training combat, just not necessarily in Ardougne itself, but other parts of Runescape. I just don't like this whole concept that having a high combat level makes it socially unacceptable for you to have questions. By this stereotype, if you're a high level and don't know something about the game, you're an idiot. -.- Before PC one had to experience Runescape, had to find the best ways to train, they had to go around the world. Someone who was 100+ combat before always knew where Ardy was (unless of course they just got members at 100 combat :o). Nowadays Runescape is off a little dock on some island for these people. Though, like others have said, it sounds like this kid "Ebay'd" this for Xmas. Even a 118 who lived at PC would have at least heard of west Ardy and know about it how to get there. It's hard to get 118 without some kind of group of people who have experienced Runescape in it's entirety. Contact with experienced players= understanding of most areas, even if they havn't been there.

I don't think he's saying everyone's an idiot, but before PC you would NEVER see something like this (a 118 idiot that is). I just stared at gaped at my monitor after reading that... I knew PC was out of control, but I had no idea things had gone that far  . Well, everyone set up your bunkers, 'cause Armagedden is coming when a 5 year old hits level 126, and it's coming soon. EDIT: (nevermind, he did say it) Annoying, yes. Idiots, quite the opposite. Eh, generally speaking people who have higher combat levels know more about the game and are more intelligient and mature. That's still true, but with PC the correlation isn't as strong. Think of it this way: a child or teenager can be more mature than an adult, but generally speaking the adult is almost always the more mature one. So even thought the child could be more mature, I don't know a person alive who wouldn't put their bet on the adult being more mature in a random scenario. In matters of maturity: Adults:Children as 110+'s:Low levels.

Which 99 would you want IRL?
Herblore. Ladies, ya'll beta watch out what I put in your drinks  . Defense would rock too 8-) , but Herblore would be my pick. Some other skills, like Magic, well they'd be dumb to practice in public  .

Best/coolest and worst/weirdest looking outfits?
Here's my current "best" outfit: Don't worry, I'm only emo on the outside.
-
what is the best thing that happened to you in rs?
My first Dagganoth Kings trip .
-
Most boring skill!
Then why do you play...? :? Dagganoth Kings and PvP of course 8-) .
-
Most boring skill!
I'd have to say all of them, but that's just me. I fail to see any level in fun in nearly all kinds of training :-k :-s . It's all so repetitious.

WHY do you play runescape?
Can you guys be more specific with your answers? "It's fun" and "friendships" aren't cutting it for me. Personally, I play for the few fun and exciting things in the game. I don't PK or stake (I'm too much of a coward to be a risk taker :P ) but I play every minute either at Castle Wars or Dagganoth Kings. Both are fun and challenging (though PvP is more challenging), and the DK's fund Castle Wars, so I can constantly do both. I play them because they're fun and exciting. Many people have said they play this game because it's "fun". Most of you guys probably spend a lot of time skilling or killing monsters that have no chance of killing you. That's very repetitive and easy, not my definition of fun. Besides, if you're going to say "it's fun", say what's fun about the game for you. And of course, the "friendship" answers. You guys can have way better friendships outside of the game, so if you're playing this game for friends than log off, get outside and experience the world, and make some "irl" friends.

Is this game taken too seriously?
Optimistic are we  ? Me, I'm a pessimist at heart :-$ . I shoot for 20% so I don't get my hopes crushed when in reality it's about 30%. I don't really get what's with playing 10 hours a day. I can barely bring myself to play 10 hours a week. Heck, when I used to absolutely love the game I once played a 10 hour session on a Saturday. Guess what I did after that. I ended up taking a whole month off of the game from sheer boredom  . What the heck drives you people to play 10 hours a day? I mean, to some I guess this game's addicting, but the game is so repetitive that I don't even understand how people could play more than 3-4 hours a day, max. For me it's like how one becomes an adult, and totally forgets what kids like, even though that adult was once a kid >_<. I've gone out of the "I'm addicted to the game" phase, and I can't remember what it's like >_<. Enlighten me.

What's your favorite weapon in RuneScape?
Mud Staff. It matches my emo outfit.

Skills or money?
Personally, I find raising skills as nothing more than an attempt to gain recognition through having more free time. Now money, that can be used for fun (and recognition other than through rares, like being a Barraging saviour in a Castle Wars game :o). There's DK'ing, CW, the expensive but nerve racking (thus fun) Fight Caves, KQ'ing, etc. And of course walking around with a party hat on is fun. Skills? In my eyes it's a just frikking number.

Do you get annoyed being ask to do the skill cape emote??
Wow, this is kind of........odd: I felt my IQ dropping by about 100 after reading this. I personally agree with him (leinfo). If it's annoying that you have to impress people with the capes, then don't try and impress them by wearing the capes. Fairly simple logic if you ask me. If making someone happy means spending 5 seconds of your life after only clicking a button a problem, then don't wear the cape. Basically, if "emote beggars" are just too much for you, then just don't wear it. Again, simple logic. I also love how people are so bad at comebacks and counterarguments that the only thing they can say in response to an intelligent post is "uh, well, you're dumb! "sticking out tongue*".

'Twas the rule after hacking, and all through the bank....
Hey hey ya'll, lay off Fresh. For Christ's sake, it's getting old. And Lee, like others you frikin' scared me into thinking that you got hacked  .

A small thought on "pixel huggers"
Think of it this way. During the time it would take some of these people to have enough gp for a blue party hat by doing meaningless repetive tasks in game they could have made enough real life cash to buy it on Ebay or something (i.e., using time working in real life instead of time in game for gp). That way, they spend less time on the game doing meaningless tasks, have more time for work and family, and get a nice blue party hat in their bank. To be honest, for people who can make cash fast and hate chopping down the same tree all day, it's a good move. It's debatable whether the system is corrupt or not, but the people buying those blue hats for $2,700 know what they're doing.

Your favourite place to train?
Fire Giants, great common drops, drops to supply all your needs (herbs, runes, etc.), pretty easy to kill (especially when ranging) and that rare chance of a Dragon Drop keeps it fun. Nowadays though, the only monster I ever train on is Rex :-$ .

Are you a spender or a saver?
I'm a spender at heart. I put all my money in Barrage Runes, go to Castle Wars, and it just dissappears. Where does it go :-k .

The wierdest thing in Runescape?Your thoughts?
As fun as these are, this has to be the 700th thread in this forum on the subject. As much as it pains me to say it, *gulps*- Use the search button.

How do you type in Runescape?

Jagex's Response to Pures
Well, I suppose pures could be seen as an abuse of imperfections in the combat equation. You're not seriously suggesting that Jagex would be bothered by that are you? Of course not. It's just the only reason I can think of that people would believe that Jagex hates pures :o .

How do you type in Runescape?
9 :o. I don't type perfect, but I have an odd tendency to type like I talk, or in the case of my last sentence example how my 16 year old sis talks. Yes, she's an American white chick who lives in the suburbs. "Ya'll are tickin' me off, shut the frikin' hell up." "What's da matta? Too scared ta face me one on one?" "I'm a gangsta foo. I guna fill you fulla lead if you don't stop following me." Apostrophies and all :o. And yes, I lived in the south for a few years  .

Jagex's Response to Pures
Well, I suppose pures could be seen as an abuse of imperfections in the combat equation. Mano, this was posted at least a few months ago though :o. The thread may be new on RSB, but they've made plenty if that's true.

Google your RS name! Tell us what you find.
All I got was my profiles on various Runescape forums that I go to, and of course a lot of Japanese sites  . Pretty easy to figure out why.
