If he's a registered sex offender then obviously the government thinks he's a problem. I've been over this already, but no: if he is a problem for the community -or the community is a problem for him- they have closed areas for such people. Areas where people can just live "in peace". Those registrations are only there for future problems: IF you have another problem in the future, your penalty would be obviously worse if you have committed a similar crime in the past already. However if he is really a problem for people around him, why would the goverment let him go?

If the goverment says someone isn't a problem: why does jagex make that person a problem? But really, I'm happy that I'm no where official near runescape: the community just sickens me it seems. At other places where I am moderator, there are simply no questions asked about your real life background. And certainly not looked up behind the backs of me. I share what I wish to share, not what you YOU wish to know about me.

I find it sickening how people judge others for not going mainstream and choosing their own path.
-
So? That doesn't allows anyone to form an opinion of a person. NEVER EVER form an opinion (or at least don't voice that opinion) untill you have seen that person, spoken to him and first said that opinion to him. Don't talk about others when they can't defend themself - especially not in a negative manner. Furthermore I simply can't understand how much of a "taboo" this is: it seems like you're all back in the middle ages, when also homosexuallity was a taboo. And now we look down at that time and say to ourselves: could you believe how stupid, and unequal time was back then? I'm not saying what he did is correct, but what I am saying is that judging him should be done by professionals, who know him NOT by the public. On top of that, I really dislike religions, I strongly believe "god" is just a metaphor thought by humans to hide their weakness. However there are good things one can still learn off it seems: "forgive us our crimes like we forgive each other". One of the standard prayers of christianity, and it is one of those topics which comes back in some form in each religion. It is THAT important to let people live on.

Besides: the whole password system is encrypted: even admins can't see your password. What is it with all those stupidity here of people who don't know what they are talking about making false claims?

@quy: you don't have to swap to range/magic during flying.. You can still attack him with melee. And I found it much easier / less stressing. Whereas with ranged you have to attack > immediatelly move, with melee you can attack, and your avatar will charge towards him. During this charging you have some time to position your mouse so you can "retreat" again.

@Devnull: WHAT? Do you actually know what you are talking about, and know how the internet works. There is not a "X number of routers in between", Any package is sent to all sides, with your IP as desitnation seal - and a certain time for expiring. Then each "router" as you name it just sents it to more areas (where they think it might give a reasonable chance to reach the end). So data you get from a neighbouring country may have gone completely across the whole world before it reaches you. There is no influence over that, and the statistical measurment for this is "ping". Up down are just as expected: around 5-10MB both sides. Ping is 4 MS to eindhoven, 400 ms to USA. The fps is normally 30, though sometimes it drops to 20. (And obviously during door lag it drops to 0). I KNOW it is my pc: if it was the connection and the limit in data sending, the game wouldn't become unresponsive. You would still be able to "move the camera", or the mouse. Yet the things you SEE wouldn't update for a few seconds. For me the map etc is already updated, yet the main screen takes a lot of time to "build". Maybe this should be moved to the technical forums, I have quite a bit of a computer knowlenge, so dont be afraid to actually get into the details.
-
Sigh, "quotation needed" here.. Those things are just rambling without knowlenge: anyone can see anyones IP adress: if you see my avatar you get an image from my server, and I see your IP adress.

I've in the past also been hacked quite a few times. Each time it happens when I don't log in for quite some time. I tried "hacking" my own account: and with only information about last log in, previous IPs used and general date I started I got an account back I didn't log in for a year. Now these things are public by the simple fact that is how internet works, there's no way you can hide these. Weird thing is: I was denied a few times, but after a certain amount of attempts I got my account.

Hi there, I'm getting into dungeoneering once again. But I simply can't keep the 0 deahts. Everytime I run a lane I keep dieing: door lags seem to kill me, often lag is more than a second, reaching 2-3 seconds before my account reacts again. Now what influences this "lag". Here are my stats: Lenovo thinkpad T60 dual core duo T2400 (1.83 GHz * 2) 1.5 GB RAM ATI Radeon X1400 Windows XP sp 3 Optical fibre connection (100 MB / second wireless to router) Now the above things aren't something I have the cash to to change, nor can I buy a complete new pc so those are a given. Are there any things I can do to reduce the lag? - It isn't always the same, some days lag is around 1 second, sometimes 3 seconds. What influences this?
-
just as an extra idea: DONT take weapons with animation lag (excalibur special). Also I would never take degradable stuff that won't protect: if you die during blood barrage you can't select which item you wish to take.

Don't forget that china, for economic purposes, still refuses to sign copyright treaties. Meaning that it is actually legal to copy in china, and runescape can nothing do against it. (Only against customers who bought it and dont' live in china).
-
Why would anyone have those 2 different? Both serve the same meaning: allowing you to identify yourself. Avatar literary means your image/person online.

I'm really wondering: is alching still done on such big scales as in 2007? Really aren't superheating while mining, plank making and various other methods now considered much better? - Making alching only something someone does for profit, not for training?

you're never cutting the normal trees... And the rest is so fast you'll still be in 2.7 modifier when it ends for sure. And you can do a 2nd tree run the weekend then.
-
I don't think going to gnome village (for tree): better ma.. How I go, consider I can't do catherby teleport yet: varrock (banking/start) lumby tele falador tele chipped tele tab to catherby tai bwo wannai for calquat MA tele (possible to bank now) spirit tree to gnome stronghold, do both trees chipped tele tab to brimhaven -> both trees there duel ring to duel arena, run to glider. glide to gnome village take glider again to white wolf mountain -> run to catherby teleport crystal to lletya (ending near a bank). Boils for me down to: first do 4 normal trees + calquat. Then rebank and do rest (with the combos of 2 trees at gnome stronghold, brimhaven & gnome village / catherby)

You wrote it quite4 a bit melodramatic -.-.
-
Much more easy to not kill them, but instead get them agro on you, and run around the queen so they are stuck.
-
Make them in the hours before bxpw, doesn't bxpw just "come" and not require a reboot of the servers?

I fail to see how my argument is ad hominem, my base is that people deserve multiple chances, and that people who don't allow that are also committing a "crime". If he is "dangerous" he wouldn't be released from prison - at least that's how it is in all countries I know the laws (belgium, germany, netherlands, france). They fall under a specific rule where they get more freedom (prison is no longer considered punishment) - however they still are in a prison - and the goverment can extend this untill the chance for repitition is considered "equal to not prosecuted people". So saying someone is "dangerous" after this time is saying this system is not working: and this is indirectly saying the goverment can't judge people enough. Only those affected should know, jagex might say "hey we don't support that site anymore". But they shouldn't tell everyone about this, they could inform the leaders of runevillage - who can then think wether or not they should inform the rest or just let him go silently. THAT is what I think went wrong here. JAGEX acted as an elephant in a room full of porselain. As I said: if somebody is released I consider him a normal human again. He served his sentence, the goverment deemed chance on repetition low enough for him to be released. So why hold the past against him? Mistakes can and will happen. And 1 accidentally prosecuted person is worse than 1000 non prosecuted but offending people. No it worked exactly like this in the netherlands (until people at the internet didn't follow the media code). Unless the person escapes from prison or something similar, it is up to the person in question wether he likes to tell the world what he was prosecuted for or not. He can choose to be prosecuted behind closed curtains. NO it is NEVER better to prosecute an innocent. That's in my books one of the worst things a goverment can do. The goverment should indeed inform people, but only those who have importance in knowing. (So in this case: the other leaders from runevillage, maybe the host if he was the real owner of runevillage).

Free press indeed: freedom of speech protects one against goverments.. However a press should never be free to post ANYTHING private of a person. And punishment is a private being. I never said anything about not believing punishment, I rather say the opposite: leave punishment to the goverment. Especially if the offender wishes to stay low profile let him stay low profile. We are no longer in the middle ages where you have to stand at the market square and let people throw tomatos at you. Keep punishment by the goverment, and if you disagree change the law - don't punish as civilian. Also let the past be the past. Punishment is always left up to the government. You are conflating the public element of humiliation with the notion of legal punishment. The government is the only entity with the authority to reintegrate and deter offenders of the law. Once the government publicly releases information about that offender, in the name of public protection, the press is free to report it. The press must assume that the information given is true since the judicial process is designed to wean out false positives as opposed to false negatives regards conviction, meaning a person's legal status as an offender is likely to be closer to fact then falsehood. It's also divulged by a trusted authority, so the press has little reason to not report it, especially if the matter is one of a public nature. Punishment is not a private matter since it's done in the public interest. When one offends, he is committing an offense against society. The public thus has the right to be informed of the danger an offender represents to it. We can only assume that danger is justified, because the judicial process is designed to give as accurate a conviction as possible. Like Will_H said, we cannot give up freedom of speech in favor of protecting individual security because that conviction just may happen to be false. We are meant to think that public danger is accurate, not false. Hence why the judicial process is so rigorous to determine if one truly broke the law. So you feel someone should his full life be followed by something he did earlier? YOu create monsters this way.. YOU are the worst kind of humans I ever met, actually craeting a place where others can't live who share other opinions. This is very similar to how homophilia was forced down only a century ago: whether it is good or wrong is besides the topic: what is wrong however is that punishment should be the end. There should be 0 problems AFTER the punishment has been taken, people have to live again. If you don't let people do that they'll only get together, thrown away from society and will commit even worse crimes. If I ever went to the US I would rather kill myself than getting into court: those things aren't even morally correct and I believe a crime against humanity. Look what happend to "DSK" now? In the end prosecution stopped, but his political carreer was destroyed, something many US people would love I guess. I doubt it was a complete fair process, but he was a foreigner so it was only normal.
