It takes away the prestige of the game. I remember when I used to look up to someone with a high level or a skill cape, and now everyone can just bot them and not work hard. I'm not sure why it bugs me, but it just does lol. Not that it had much prestige to begin with, 99% of the game relies on repetive clicking patterns then skill. I see why its heavily botted. Honestly the more i look at videos of people doing it, the more i think rule breaks (bug abusers, lurers, bot makers, etc.) are the only people in runescape who have actual skills in this game. It takes a lot more work for one of those bug abusers to find a working bug then it does to get 99 in your pointless skill. Or a lot more skill to lure someone to the wild then it does to get 99 thieving. If you believe this, why play this game at alll? Because its true for every game, whether its Pokemon or Call of Duty, Runescape or World of Warcraft But you must play games?

the market is really a nice market: -EE beats it in convenience -SGS is better if you're rich but don't like doing the diaries -soul split is better It'll be hard to find someone who hasn't got one of the above.

Warped tortoise can be annoying - for the fact they are so profitable (and you have to bank each 40ish with a full inv of 10k stuff). Also there are only 2 spawns, if you're "maxed"they won't spawn fast enough (even I at times don't with 10% str pray + super pots + chaotic rapier). Only thing I fear are bots, am surprised it isn't swarmed yet (they beat green dragons on profit/ hour).

uhm what? You know that chrome allocates more than neccessary resources for each tab, as it won't fit tabs into 1 thread and hence can't share memory. (Otherwise it would be crippled with lockdowns). There is no "best" browser: a browser depends a lot on the usage, chrome is aimed at running programs (though NOT java programs, chrome has no direct control over what is inside the applet) inside a browser. This however at the same time makes it quite a heavy browser for older pcs.
-
As runescape (more often than not) runs through a browser, this has also a big impact on performances: Older browser run typically better on older pcs. However they can't use features (ie pre FF 4 only a single core would be occupied by runescape)of newer pcs. So best take a browser slightly newer than your pc.

Just to give you an idea, I "earn" 1M hourly easily. So 10k would only be 1/100th hour, about 40 seconds of time.

Knowing many, many languages I feel obliged to point this out: [qutoe]7. Are you experienced with any coding languages, including HTML? If yes, then which one(s)? There are very few "coding" languages. Coding is named when people write assembly, and there aren't many different assembly languages. The typical name should be "programming languages", which include c++, java, pascal PHP etc etc. HTML is sometimes shared under these languages, however techincally HTML isn't a programming language, it lacks abilities as "structures" and "flow control" better name would be a "markup language". Of course the upcomming html5 features is a complete different case. just my 0.02 -
I'm unsure if jagex has updated in the past few years their recovery system, but when I was hacked I was stunned how easily I could get my account back (I did this to test the recovery system, purposefully only giving some information).. I gave only "static" information, information that I am unable to change (4 passwords in the past, email used to sign up etc). Not information I had power over, and shockingly I was given the account back. Unsuprisingly about 9 months later I was hacked again (this was just 2 months before free trade was removed). I was even accused from real world trading and my prayer stat was wiped. (back in 2007) - in total I think I lost about 100M. After that I didn't notice anything happening (during 2007 I saw constantly people trying to log in - especially if I went to falador selling stuff in large quantities). Just be very careful, the first year or something to keep a bank pin at all times and play "low profile". You'll get back on track sooner or later, and just remember to keep enjoying the game. ON a side node: did they drop everything? I remember getting very, very pissed that this botter dropped even my untradables. I had a big stack of quest items, which I lost all. This made me more angry than the cash: I couldn't see the point.

Well I feel the opposite way round: If a player bot I think: "meh he's only destroying his own fun" - if he wouldn't bot he would have to get those things anyways, and he would just manually gather everything. It doesn't affect me directly. Also However with those chinese goldfarmers suddenly 10-20 accounts are constantly being added, and that is a much larger amount. They literary "swarm" places (it goes in waves what bots do).

I'm unsure where to post thsi, but I think this is an important message guidemakers should realize, and hence should receive some visibility: A video can be a great media to show how something is done. And hence it can extend a guide greatly. However guides with only a video shouldn't be considered "finished", they lack too much to fit that role: -A video requires much more storage (and hence bandwidth) than just a text/images. This means you can't load your guide immediatelly and some people will have a difficult time viewing your guide -A video has 0 overview, no one can skim your video quickly to see what it talks about and if it is applicable to you. -As you don't have overview, with just a video a guide can never be used as a reference once you seen it. You are constantly forced to look through the whole video. Even if you want to see just the setup you will have to download the video and take much time to look at the setup. -Videos are not good for text, I read at a different speed than someone else. So either some people can't read everything easily, or people get annoyed by the slow speed text is shown. Furthermore if something is a "difficult" point you read it multiple times, leading to even more confusion and annoyances when the video moves on but you aren't ready yet. -Spoken commentaries are just terrible: please realize that not everyone is a native english speaker. And where text can be read more slowly to translate it in your head, with a voice this can't be done. This means that often the message won't get across. -Background music, this is just punishing viewers. My prefered music will probably not be the same as yours. And most of the music I see with videos I think is a waste of time to produce. Everyone has their own tastes, and people don't open a guide to know your music taste. People open your guide to learn something. So don't force your taste upon others and just keep music out of a video guide. All in all I believe video guides are just terrible when they are "on their own". As I said I do see a great point in giving a video demonstrating what is written down in the guide, but don't leave a video without written text which can be read without opening the video.

dungeoneering at sea?

Cause if they say so, it is so.. And it most certainly is not said to convince us, and to show they are still in control.

Combat? Cause combat should be the be all end all skill? I propose a NEW method, something else than bones, a skill which ties to prayer like mining ties to smithing. And no, this isn't that unfeasable: look what happened with farming? Before farming the method to get herblore ingredients was combat (well apart from a select few resource such as agility). However with farming this changed completely. Such a thing can also happen to prayer.. However as bones are already "balanced" (in the way they work with altar & ecto and this has to be taken into account) to prevent something ridiculous a complete different resource should be added.
-
On a second thought: What do you guys think about a skill which gives a "raw" produkt which can then be used to train prayer? Prayer is -still- in need of a new way to train. And adding something like this would tie the skill in neatly, making one of the most daunting tasks a feasable and probably lowers the stress on combat being the only viable money earning option quite a bit.
-
As a side node: at least get "something" from the list quyneax posted: Having verac/proselyte as well as karils is much better than having only full bandos. Also as waterfiends are only a small portion of your tasks I wonder if getting a maul is worth the time (this depends on your slayer/dungeoneering goal though), a zammorak spear kills them easily enough.

Why make a second topic for this? Anyways I repost my "suggestion": I am really hungering for a new skill which actually provides "tradeables", a resource gathering skill. I loved the way how mining/smithing worked back in the days: leveling wasn't only done for levelling, it meant you could actually help others or make massive profits from being the first. Let it be simple, as long as it isn't another money draining skill. For new players, member part ofrunescape is just becomming a big mountain unable to tackle. Unless you follow a very strict pattern it is impossible in a human lifetime to get all skills to feasable levels that you can even taste bosses. Another money-wasting skil would be good for the select few who are lucky to have earned 100+M and bought already all buyable skills, but runescape desperatelly needs new players. So runescape should aim for these with a new skill. (Not that the skill should be low levelled/useless later, but rather you shouldn't have to depend on other skills and you should be able to use this skill as a base for other skills).

There is no "maximum java number", please don't say that there is. If someone bothered to make a class just for the purpose, numbers up to 2^(2^32) could be worked with on a 32-bit OS. Of course there isn't, java as language is turing complete (though computers aren't turing complete as they lack memory). HOWEVER for all purposes using a BIGNUM class is terrible: instead of 1 clockcycle to do elementary mathematic operators on the numbers. It'll easily take 100-1000 clock cycles to do those things. That's unfeasable. So there is a "maximum numbers" for the primitve datatypes (which are supported by the architecture). 2^16 for shorts, 2^32 for "int" and "long" datatypes and 2^64 for long longs.

Wishfull thinking? Well I doubt they'll change any minigame for real.. Just update some rewards.. But as people only play for rewards nowadays that's what everyone seems to think is a good month.

I agree with A13d. Just because Jebrim and a FEW others are obsessed with a skill doesn't mean that the majority should suffer and lose their hard earned top ranks. Everyone who got rank 1 in a skill did it in a much harder/time consuming way than someone who got it years/months later. If your argument is "They should remove the xp cap because 10 people only like 1 skill in the game" then it is a very bad one. Also, seeing as you mentioned Jebrim, he wants it to be removed because he is "living in the shadow of Lover Romeo" <-- his words. I'm pretty sure that in his case it's more about getting rank 1 agility = E-fame/boost rather than enjoying it. I'm not saying he doesn't enjoy it I'm just saying that rank 1 is more important to him and anyone else who isn't rank 1 in a skill. I think Paul or Andrew said they would never increase the 200m cap because "it's already very far from 13m xp which is required for 99". I read that on the RSOF a while ago. Well I do feel the sense of a "maximum" as something terribly annoying: the closer I get to a 99 in a skill the more I feel annoyed this is the "best" you can get in a skill. (Well you can get ranks/xp, but you can't actually get better/more things in that skill). I personally get demotivated by such a level cap (hence you'll see my dungeoneering is way higher than anything else, as I'm still far away from the dungeoneering max). I'm wondering what will happen at the time someone reaches 200M in all skills. (Which might actually be reached in like 2-3 years, given the fact that xp rates will keep growing).

You really should like questing for the fun of them, and not just for the rewards. I also like the Myreque storyline, along with the Temple Knights, Fairy Tale, Dorgeshuun Goblin, Making History (was quite interesting 2-part series), and the Mahjarrat series (more of the sub series - Mysteries of the Mahjarrat). I think that out of all of them, I really did enjoy the Myreque storyline the most. (I like the more dark feeling that Mortyania has, especially Burgh de Rott/Meiyerditch/to be released Darkmeyer). Thing is, since I have my quest point cape, I've forgotten a lot about the storylines. But they come back to me when I start back in the storyline thankfully. *Am I the only one that LIKED that maze? I thought it was really, REALLY fun ;_; And it wasn't THAT hard to get around, you just had to follow the symbols on the walls.* Well the problem isn't for me the maze in itself, it's the fact that you HAVE to go through lengths of time to go somewhere there, while you have done those things in the past already.

Uhm you know that java is a (very) strong typed language? You can't ever think in a language such as this of "using a type interchangeable". But indeed, the client may not see any problems. However the back end, database has to be effectivelly rewritten. Not for the least suddenly each entry has double the memory location. And as a database is stored on a harddisk, not in random access memory, this takes quite a while.
