  1. I'll basically do a +1 to Wongtong's list. ...Maybe not. I don't know what ye westerners consider unusual, but I'm fairly surprised a lot of people find eel disgusting. Eel sushi is probably my favorite type of sushi, and I have it quite frequently. I used to have fish eyes all the time, I was planning on having one on Chinese New Year but we didn't have a whole fish. I suppose stinky tofu is rather strange too? Pig knee and chicken feet...Eh. Obviously there's the coagulated pig blood stuff that I've been going on about lately. I really have no idea what else I eat that's considered strange. I mean, some of the stuff you guys eat regularly sounds strange to me.
  2. Ocean's 12 line ripoff. c'mon, he's asking us a serious question. Ocean's Eleven, and the first part was serious. And the quote actually does make a bit of sense. Part of it at least. And yeah, confidence is a huge part.
  3. Don't suck up, but don't try to use reverse psychology. Be honest, but if there's something you'd rather not say, twist your words in a certain way. Don't use seven words when four will do. Be specific but not memorable, be funny but don't make him laugh. He's got to like you then forget you the moment you've left his side.
  4. So many fantasy authors fall into the trap of "AGH MUST MAKE LONGER", and I'd say Rowling is among them. The Lord of the Rings movies are obviously some of the longest fantasy ones out there, but the books are a decent length. Not extremely long, but not ridiculously short. The first few Harry Potter books were about the same length. That's one of the reasons I prefer them over the later ones. Though it's all a matter of opinion (With exceptions), I place LotR a lot higher than HP.
  5. There's maybe only one chapter in RotK that I would classify as pointless wandering. Though I admit I don't like The Two Towers that much. (Neither the book or movie - Or even the soundtrack) Though the Rohirrim are awesome...

Yeah, I'll just wear anything I can get my hands on. (...Maybe not.) I won't bash anyone who cares about how they look though. I personally don't care much, but if you do, then that's fine with me.

Heh, go look up JawKneeYeah (on Youtube). For Chinese New Year, my school throws at me a new term/semester. And midyear exams. Though I managed to find out most of my grades for term two. Mainly A's, yay...
  8. Rap

ThurinEthir replied to xlippsx's topic in Off-Topic
Oh yeah, country rap. As strange as it sounds, it's actually not too bad...(Better than some stuff I've heard...) And apparently it's called c-rap for short. How awesome is that. Seriously though, there are a few rappers I like. But nowhere near my favorites.
  9. If you're a guy, having an earring in your right ear is generally a sign you're gay. I think. Of course, right ear =/= nose...But still.

Thanks for reminding me Lenticular, my left eye has been having issues...My vision in it just goes blurry sometimes, guess I should add that to all the other medical issues I'm having at the moment. Or it could simply be that my glasses are dirty/foggy. And I have to do a powerpoint for Chinese school, since I'm "graduating" this year and I have to tell people about my life. So I was looking at old pictures, and I stumbled upon some from years past when I was in London/Edinburgh/Paris/Bordeaux. Why must Europe be so much cooler than America... :|

I have to get one as well. Long time coming but I always look like an idiot for a week. Had golf lesson today. Just felt good to hit some balls. Really can't wait until it warms. Penguin, you're Chinese? Hot pot, yayayaya. :) Omg pig blood cake, love quirky asian stuffs :B We've made heaps of chinese-themed foods, can't wait. AND THE RED PACKETS !!! Oh wow, I can't believe I missed that. :P And I'm sort of Chinese...Long story short, my mom was born in Taiwan, my dad was born in Hong Kong (Under British occupation) and I was born in Taiwan. I'm sure at least one of my ancestors was actually from China though...(And Taiwan celebrates it too, so whatever ;) ) I love freaking out bairen with all our...strange food, though I still find it strange how people don't like eel sushi or chicken feet. Srsly. (Apparently the Spartans also ate pig blood? :? )

Tomorrow is Chinese New Year (So right now is the morning of Chinese New Year Eve? Conversions are complicated...), so we had a special dinner. Hot pot. (Like a big shabu shabu, if that makes any sense?) My aunt and uncle came over, and they brought a lobster, which was nice. Though we didn't have pig blood cake, which is usually my favorite. Some fifteen more of these dinners to go. ;)
  13. I fly solo. Simply put, I fail at basically every single team sport out there. Except possibly soccer/football, but even then, I absolutely suck compared to some of the awesome people at my school. I'm a bit better with solo things, such as tennis and running. It's kind of hard to play tennis by yourself (As in without an opponent), but I'd rather run on a treadmill than out on the streets. I suppose it's because I have a massive ego and I don't want other people see me failing miserably. For video games, though I do not suck (I swear I don't ;) ), I still prefer playing solo. Yeah, playing the computer can get boring after a while, and then I'll switch to multiplayer, but I've spent over 1000 hours playing single player games for a reason. That's not to say I don't enjoy playing with a good party in a MMORPG, or blowing other people's heads off in a FPS, but leading my army against a computer is fun too.
  14. So did I. :? Wendy's > BK > Subway > McDonald's > KFC.
  15. I like British English quite a lot, for some reason. (Actually, I just like Britain more than America. Eh.) I've started to use it a bit more, probably because I've read so many posts by British users on here. Thankfully it's not as bad with Chinese. Though being Taiwanese, I'm one of the few people I know that still uses traditional, which can just get confusing. Also, there's the whole dialect thing, but that's not really a problem.
  16. Agreed. If your friends are truly your friends, they'll accept you for who you are. That's not to say they don't have an influence on you... There's a guy that I used to be friends with, but he seriously pissed me off after a while, mainly because every time our group of friends would plan on getting together, he would take control, and whenever I didn't want to go, he would always reply with "BUT EVERYONE IS GOING" Being a teenage male, I'm peer pressured into being athletic/playing sports, and as I simply fail at 98% of all sports, I don't. I find it ridiculous how some people I know are simply playing a sport because they want to look cool. I've also realized that I'm not that similar to my friends. A few years ago, you could've easily mistaken me for any of them, from my actions, but somewhere along the road, I developed my sense of individuality.
  17. So next time a white guy wins, I'm going to say "He won because he's white!"
  18. I love how only one picture has been posted so far. (Oh never mind, three. Sneaky, sneaky edit there, Nick...)
  19. Wait, it is? Isn't underweight 18.5 and less? 18.2 is pretty darn close to 18.5, barely underweight... Apparently I would have to be 6 inches shorter if I were to be normal weight. Or gain 15 pounds. The latter sounds easier. :? (Time to eat 60 quarter-pounders...)
  20. Oh look, my BMI is like 3 lower than yours... But that's partially because I hit my growth spurt. My height rocketed, my weight...Not so much. Have a healthy diet, and keep in mind muscle > fat. Though if you seriously just want to pack on a few more pounds, I suppose it doesn't matter too much. Protein is important, your main source will probably be meat. And exercise. Like I said, muscle > fat. Even if you don't want to be muscular, apparently it weighs more. (And there's not much bad that can come from being a bit muscular...) I would also suggest eating less a bit less at each meal but more often, though I don't know how effective that is.
  21. My history teacher asked us yesterday what we thought Obama was going to do first. Looks like my friend was right. It's great that he's getting right to work. I mean, no really, the country isn't going to magically change in a few hours, but so far so good. About Bush...I was surprised, a lot of people actually clapped for him (Where I was...), though we all laughed when the camera switched to a shot of him, and he looked to be dozing off with a scowl.

Yayy Chinese New Years; Can't wait to get monies  Except my parents insist that I save it for college... :(
  23. Nah, I'm think he had a teleprompter. Still, he is amazing at giving speeches, truly a charismatic guy, and that's one of the many reasons he was elected. (And if he did memorize it, that would be yet another reason.) Hawkxs, as mentioned, Obama did not purposely play the race card on any occasion. Obviously, there are people who voted for him solely because he's black, but what control does he have over that? And I find it rather strange how you act like if Palin played the gender card, it would be fine, but if Obama played the race card, it wouldn't.
