  1. I was going to quote Theoden and say "No parent should have to bury their child", and basically say what you said. If/when I have kids, they'd probably be more valuable to me than my ego. So losing them would be much, much worse.
  2. I was going to say something like "understanding a problem that's been bothering you your whole life. Finally solving a long-term issue." I obviously don't have kids, but I'd think that watching them become successful would be great, seeing all your hard work pay off. Oh yes, going home. Finding something you've been searching for for a very long time. To sum it up - Success. I like being successful. It boosts my ego.
  3. The Fields of the Pelennor - Return of the King OST - Howard Shore The beginning is quiet and slow. Good for an entrance. The middle is like O Fortuna, high, loud voices screeching in an incomprehensible language (Supposedly Elvish...). The end is triumphant. Oh wait. It is epic battle music.
  4. Having low self-esteem. Thinking of all that's wrong with you and your life. Because my ego is my most valuable possession.
  5. If you knew me you'd know that I'm not actually a heartless brute. Quite the opposite actually - if you knew me you'd know that I'm pretty weak. But you probably wouldn't know anything about me. Half the things I say probably aren't true, or are exaggerations.
  6. My French teacher won $2 last year. He spent it on Orangina. For us. Awesome guy, :)
  7. I'll log about 90 hours of video games this vacation (At my current rate). I really don't care, I enjoy it and it helps me relax/it's a good distraction. So... Do you regret the time you lost playing video games? No. Not at all. I actually wish I found some of the games I play now earlier on. What videogame have you clocked the most hours on? My Xfire reads Silkroad Online, with Civ4 at a very close second (It would be my highest at the end of vacation if I didn't beat every UHV in RFC...). RuneScape is most likely the highest though. Which game do you keep on playing occasionally? Used to be Civ4, as I mentioned above. Don't know what's next. Will you introduce your kids to video games or will you let them spend their time elsewhere? [Assuming I have kids], if they enjoy them, then I'd let them spend as much time gaming as long as they're able to do fairly well in school and exercise a decent amount. Why do you spend upwards of 30 50 hours on videogames in a week? "I enjoy it and it helps me relax/it's a good distraction." Are/were your parents right?, Are videogames a waste of time? They've never told me that, and they set the requirements I'd set. I do well in school, I have friends, and I exercise. My free time is my free time, I'm free to do what I want with it (of course, with limits). Are they a waste of time? I have very quick fingers compared to most people at my school, and I attribute that to all the time I spend online typing/gaming (or piano, but I don't practice :P ). Of course, it's not that great a skill - If I simply studied math in my free time I could be better off. Though I wouldn't have made it here if it weren't for video games.

Nah, Pit's the best if you want to rack up damage. Spam, spam, spam some more. Of course it's rather hard to KO with him... Ike's recovery is simply epic fail. Aether rarely does what's needed, side b takes some time to charge, and it's useless if your below the stage. So the simple answer with Ike is to just not get hit off the stage. :P
  9. What valid points did you make? Oh right, none. Nice strawman by the way. If your argument is just going to be "I'm right, you're wrong!" then just stop.
  10. Wait what? Told ya. I was playing Civ4. Whoops. Oh well. (Ugh, snowed a ton...) Yay 2009. Need to start practicing my "9"s. Hope it's a great year.
  11. Lara Croft, hm. Movie-based games usually suck, and the opposite would most likely be true. Other than Lord of the Rings, books, movies and games should mainly stay separate.
  12. Yeah, I remember in second grade when I didn't have enough things to do so I would just sit there waiting. Of course, back then I would naturally wake up at like 8 (It's more like noon now...). :P I don't think I'm going to even bother watching TV to see the Times Square ball drop this year. Either I'll follow it online, or I'll completely forget as I'll be in some game. :)
  13. Well that was easy. It was Lord of the Rings Volume 1, for SNES.
  14. Aww you got it in one try  It was the circles. I think. I've never played another game with them. (And I've played quite a few free Korean MMORPG grindfests ;) ) I have a few really obscure games, but I can't find screenshots. Oh well. I guess I'll have to go with this...Should be fairly easy if you know anything about me. :)
  15. 11+ hours. Wonderful. 2008 sucked. For the most part. I don't know what I'm going to do. Probably do some homework (Nah, there are still some four days left in break...), game the rest away. Happy new year, I suppose!
  16. I think that's another reason I'm pretty cynical. Looking at the CNN website, 10 of the top stories have something to do with death, war or crime. The rest are about Obama or 2008. The media does have a large influence on my life, and by hearing all this bad news, I get the impression the world's a terrible place. Is it? I personally think so.
  17. I love being special and having an interest (...) in something that no one else does. Whether it's a band or video game, when it catches on fire, I can be like "Woah I was the first to like this!" :P The Coldplay comment was rather random, huh, Reb? Or did someone make a comment back a few pages about how they confessed they listened to them...? But yeah, I hate people who act like "THIS SUCKS" and expect you to think it sucks just because of that. I personally think some of Coldplay's songs are a bit repetitive (As in a few have similar tunes...), but that makes them recognizable. I guess. And in general they aren't bad. There are much, much worse. I still haven't added my sister. Whoops. #-o
  18. Random Korean MMORPG #416. Perfect World?
  19. If you have the money, get the Valve Complete Pack. Steam doesn't have those ratings so it's all good. :P (There are like 20 games, if your parents end up checking - or whatever - perhaps they won't see all of them. :) ) But yes. Crazy sales on Steam.
  20. How much money, may I ask? I can't really help with Wii games (Haven't touched mine in so long, and I only have 5 games, having played only 2), but PC...Hm. If you can't get an M game, I suppose strategy games are your best bet. If you want sci-fi, go for Starcraft, the battle chest is about $20. If you want fantasy, I guess go for Warcraft (III? I've heard II is better?). If you want historical...You have a lot of choices. Age of Empires: Collector's Edition is an amazing deal (First two with expansions for only $10, don't bother with the third), or you could look for Civilization IV: Complete (It's actually at half price off Steam right now...). Rome: Total War is also great, if you like big battles. For the record, Civ4 is turn-based (And doesn't focus a ton on fighting like the others), and Rome: Total War is mainly turn-based, with real-time battles. The rest are all real-time.

At my church's camp over Memorial Day Weekend, we always bring water guns and have fights. Most epic was a few years ago, when my friends and I all brought bikes. Talk about cavalry and drive-by shootings.
  22. For my third birthday, I got a pair of scissors. I have no idea what kind of birthday present that is, and why you would give scissors to a three year old, but okay. I rip open the package, and slice my hand open. I actually don't think there's a scar, strangely enough. The only other notable thing is when I took a dump at school in kindergarten, but some more came out after I was out of the bathroom. I felt it, so in the middle of class, while no one was looking, I took off my pants (And underwear) and checked.
  23. Aren't there lie detectors? Of course, those aren't 100% accurate and there would be exceptions, but I'd think that if someone did some testing, they would find a solid answer. It's not concrete proof either, but the fact that such a large majority of the homosexual population says it wasn't a choice is rather convincing. I don't think a large percentage of thieves say they were naturally thieves, or do they?
  24. I call it a principle, you know, human compassion and all. I guess that's really what this whole debate boils down to. You either buy into society helping the needy, through actions or taxation, or you don't. I'm all for helping the needy but not in the ways mentioned so far, I'd much rather try to allocate a homeless person a space in rehab and a job prospect where willpower and determination is required to get through than just bail them out with them having nothing to do, no job prospect, no drug replacement as majority of the time they'll relapse. In another thread about communism/socialism, someone brought up the famous proverb - "Give a man a fish, you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you'll feed him for a lifetime." That's basically what should be applied here - Instead of simply handing out money and giving welfare to the poor and lower classes, teach and help them out of their situation. Now, some money to get them started would probably be helpful, but if you simply throw money at poor people you're not going to get anything done.
