isn't that tom cruise? You know, I was watching TV once, and this guy similar to Billy Mays (as in he did an infomercial or whatever, and insisted on yelling) came on and was like "Hi I'm Tom Kruse and I invented the Hoveround!" :P To those who question his choice about changing his name - there are two scenarios I can think of. The first, which I can relate to, is having an abnormal first name that no one can pronounce and having it be a pain in the [wagon] due to all the confusion and stuff like that. Like I said, that happens to me, and I've considered changing my middle name (It's actually not my middle name, I just claim it is) to my first name, as that's what I go by. The other scenario...He simply wants an epic name. I wouldn't do it, but it's not like it'd hurt me in any way. Go for it if you want.
  2. Middle, I suppose. Though compared to some of the people around here, probably lower-middle. We have a pretty small house in a rich city.
  3. Sometime back in the fall, Lent created a thread about being different. I'll repeat what I posted there: "Question everything. Take risks. Do the unexpected." I wish I could live up to that. I rarely take risks, I'm more comfortable with a daily routine. But it's not fun. Well, it is. But not as fun as it could be. Eh. I should still have plenty of years ahead of me to screw around with. (But alas, I'll never be a kid again)
  4. Hey I've heard of that! It's a state from China right? Apparently Taiwan is a state of Vietnam. And the capital of that state is Thailand. Won't get into the part-of-China-or-not argument though. Oh hey, it's you. Haven't seen you post in a while. If you ever happen to read this, did you end up moving? (...Rather random, PM me if you really want)

It can be annoying growing up in America with an Asian name, but eh... Listen to Zonor.
  6. Yeah, well, it's illegal to take baths on Sundays here.
  7. I live in the most liberal state in the USA. Massachusetts. And perhaps the second most liberal city in it, after Boston. But I was born in Taipei, Taiwan. Such a more awesome place.
  8. Dizzle, it most likely was simply a map of Tolkien's Middle Earth. ;) As for what adventures I could actually have, the good ole "get-away-from-civilization-become-a-wanderer-in-the-woods" thing is good enough for me.
  9. If you want my opinion, we are kind of in a dark age. Wait, what? We're still inventing things, right? We're not failing or anything? True. But the great colonial empires have fallen within the past century or two, we've had two great wars, we have no possible place to expand. Like how Rome fell, Vikings, Magyars, Muslims invaded Europe, and all known inhabitable land was taken. (That last one is debatable, I suppose?) So I suppose a Renaissance is bound to happen. Some guy discovered a way to sail boats across oceans. And a whole new landmass was discovered. Likewise, some guy is going to discover a way for people to live on other celestial bodies. Sometime. Anyway, I would have loved to live in the Age of Exploration. Seeing a coastline no one else has seen...Finding tribes of people you never even knew existed...Must have been pretty stunning. I would also love to be granted a quest to destroy a ring in a volcano.

Definitely that feeling of regret. There's no going back. Damn it. I probably play video games too much. No "New Game" or "Save/Load Game" buttons in real life. :(
  11. Wow, my school must be ahead of you guys'. EVERYONE, popular or not, has been saying it every other sentence since last spring :| Nah, I heard it used way too much last year. I dearly hope no other memes spread to real life. Ah wait, too late.
  12. starting to become overused? Well, over the past couple of weeks, the nerds in my classes have been overusing it to the point where it becomes annoying. Here, it's not just the nerds anymore. That, I could handle, seeing as I am quite a nerd myself. But no. The popular, valley girls are saying "fail." :|

I used to draw maps all the time as a kid, wonder if I still have the skill. I'll try later...

I propose we send an exploratory fleet west to discover an alternate route to the east. Hey, who knows. Maybe we'll discover a whole new landmass.
  15. Sorry, didn't think it was so serious. Actually, you can close it without ending firefox, what you need to do is close the screen, place your mouse on the lower left corner of the "Cancel"/"ok" button and hold down enter. Or use NoScript. LOL. Google Chrome has this option that can "prevent this website from creating additional dialogues." ;)
  16. My history/social studies teachers in sixth and seventh grade made us do some "debates." More like...11 year old kids having no idea what they're talking about and parroting things they read online. There was one about spending money on Africa, another was about a hypothetical situation in the army. You really can't have a good [political] debate in Massachusetts, at least in a class. Too many liberals. ;) If I care about what I'm debating about (That's a general rule, for me at least. If I care, I'll do much better), I like debates. Generally because I care = I know more. If I don't care, then nah. Not only do I most likely not know much about it, but I wouldn't be motivated enough.

And yesterday I watched all three LotR movies. Back to back to back. Again. And I played Civ4 while I was watching.
  18. China's population is still growing.
  19. You most likely can't get a real job (no, not even fast food service), so just do random tasks for money. Or other things.
  20. 1. Yes. Not that it's an entirely bad thing, nor that I think that way, but it happens. 2. If you mean the country I live in, no. If you mean the country with which I have citizenship, conscription is in place already. 3. Yes. 4. The only way to achieve world peace is to have no one to argue with. Seeing as I can't kill everyone else, nothing. 5. Greed and "conflicting" beliefs. 14, male.

I heard 10-14 inches total. :? And we've only had one. Yet we're like next to you guys. :(

They can be vassal states or something.
  23. My sister is a senior in college right now, she applied for 17 schools or something. :| Quite remarkable schools though. I don't remember all of them but she had a good deal of Ivies. Still waiting to see if she gets in to any... As for me, I still have three years. Massachusetts has this standardized test called the MCAS, and you need to "pass" the English and Math in order to graduate. If you get at least Proficient on both, and Advanced in one, you get some sort of scholarship (or something) to UMass. I'm guessing around 33% of the class qualifies for that, though I don't know how many actually take advantage of it. I really don't know what I want to do in the future though, and I don't know what college I want to go to. All I know is I'm most likely sticking around Boston, and there's plenty around here, obviously including Harvard and MIT. Generally 2-4 people make it into those two (combined) each year from my school, and though I can easily think of three people who have a better chance than I do, eh...A guy can dream. Tufts and some other smaller tech schools sound good too.
  24. Is yours male? I find male French teachers to be okay, female French teachers to be [wagons]. Like mine. Before I dropped out. I posted this in some other thread: Huh. I guess that's actually the worst thing I've been caught for. Not talking. :wall:
  25. I think this is just confirming my belief that all French teachers are crazy and evil.
