  1. You could probably sell that kit for 100-150 eur. It's difficult to speculate a price though since you haven't said what models they are. EDIT: ^^^^ Yamaha
  2. 100W I believe? My brother has a similar one. Nice Ibanez as well. Nah, just 40w. But it's tube so it can get plenty loud.
  3. I haven't bought a music album in a store for years. You don't have anything to worry about as long as you don't order from albums4u.ru or something like that. If you live in the U.S. then amazon.com is most likely your best bet. They have the album you're looking for as well. I'm from Sweden and I've ordered from there a few times too without any problems.
  4. [hide=][/hide] [hide=][/hide] Booyah. Got it today.
  5. Also had a special offer (because I shopped for over $56), so they offered me a pocket book for $1. The selection was pretty limited so I picked this one:
  6. Thin Lizzy: Jailbreak, Black Rose, Bad Reputation (Thunder & Lightning if you want a more metal-y album). Black Stone Cherry: Black Stone Cherry, Folklore & Superstition. Glyder: Glyder, Playground for Life. UFO: Phenomenon, Lights Out. Ted Nugent: Cat Scratch Fever, Ted Nugent. Killer: Ready For Hell, Wall of Sound. Diamond Head: Lightning to the Nations. etc.

    Gig Amps

Yeah you don't need a stack unless you'll be playing large venues. As for the Spiders, I've heard that Spider Valves aren't half-bad - quite versatile tube amps. They aren't really within your price range though. I agree with what was said earlier in the thread though, unless you're in desperate need of a new amp right now, I would save up a few more $100s. Otherwise you'll most likely be wanting a new amp in a year or two.
  8. Well, I've just placed an order for a Marshall DSL401 (they didn't have it in stock at the store so they'll have to order it in). And since my sis is moving out soon I'll have an entire room for all my gear stuff, which of course means I'll have room for even more guitars and pedals. Mother is not amused by this fact. Also the band I'm in will record an album soon-ish.
  9. Make a funny post, make a thoughtful post, make an epic post, make a mature post, make a thought-provoking post, make a reflecting post, make a sensible post; make an intelligent post. Make a post that's not a result of 0.02 seconds of weak brain jittery. Make the slightest of efforts.
  10. I am employed by one. However I don't work at one, since I usually work from home. I have been there a few times though, and really, game companies seem to be the best places to work ever. At the one I work for the atmosphere is really relaxed, they listen to music - they're always talking and laughing. They also have a large, separate "indian themed" room, where people go to relax. They have a huge TV, a bunch of gaming consoles and games, a nice big couch. It's a kind of small company, but they've been around for quite a while (well over 10 years anyway). They were among the first to make avatar based chats! And with this new game they're gradually expanding; continuously hiring more and more people, which, in turn, keeps me and my bank account very happy! I've been following Mirror's Edge for a while too. I'm really looking forward to it. Also a friend of mine will try to get a trainee post at Dice next year as a programmer.
  11. These are probably mostly "you had to be there" stories, but I'm excruciatingly bored. I've got a friend who gets into all sorts of [cabbage] when he's drunk since he mostly gets a lot drunker than the rest of us. This is the same guy who started giving detailed stories about his army days (which don't exist), asked us to shave his head (which we did), and drunkenly stumbled into Max Burgers on our way home from the pub to eat something, asked the cashier, "is this... McDonald's?", "no, this is Max Burgers", "... Okay...! Cool. I shall have a Whooper then!" (Burger King). He then told the cashier to specifically wrap his burger in three paper-wrappers, whereafter he ordered one of those sauce packets and proceeded to slurp it up before getting the rest of his order. He's also made it his holy quest to steal as many signs from hamburger restaurants as he can (possibly so he has something to help him remember the nights by). He's somehow managed to steal and take with him home all signs except the huge one behind the counter. He hasn't given up on that one either. I have another friend who, as soon as he gets into something, it's all he focuses his attention on. He's ranked as the third best wrestler in Europe his weight-group, and he got that rank on a day he was hung-over (I'm serious). He had a marijuana plantation in his college dorm room and would often get stoned with one of his college professors. He also discovered an MMORPG by the name of Tibia in college, and after spending most of his waking hours playing that game realised he was wasting a bunch of valuable could-be ingame time making food and studying. So he immediately purchased a bot to help him level etc., then bought one of those baby alarm things. Placed one by the computer, and took the other one with him. The bot would kill monsters for him and make a sound as soon as another player entered his "screen" in Tibia, which he would then hear through the baby alarm. He could now boil noodles in peace. Funny thing is he only played the game for a month or so. Oh, he also ran his own moonshine when he lived at home with his parents.

    Gig Amps

It's pretty much universally accepted that Spiders are terrible, terrible amps. Trust one who's played a Spider for the last 3 years. It was when I was forced to use it during a gig that I realised I had to buy a new one. Hell, you would probably be better off with an MG... Have you checked out the Peavey Valveking series? If you don't mind the half-second delay from using the awful footswitch I think it might possibly be your best bet as far as tube amps go. The one I have experience with is the Valveking 112, which is pimarily a metal amp and can probably pull off some decent hard rock tones. At least try one out. A lot of people don't like the VK series because the speakers aren't exactly top notch (among other things), but like I said: $600 really limits your options.
  13. Me going up to a (very) drunk friend at a party, "hey man, I think you've had enough of that. Here, have some of this delicious soda water!". Little did he know that the glass was filled to the brim with probably 60% water, 40% vodka. Poor guy didn't even notice it. A bit earlier I had asked him a few times if I could taste his drinks, then pretended to drink while another friend poured even more liquor in it over my shoulder. He later told us stories about his days in the army, which he's never been in, mind you. Another friend recorded it with his cell phone and even months after it's still one of the funniest damn things I've seen. Still, felt kind of douchey about it afterwards. I also kicked my friend hard in the mouth with a ski several years ago. He ended up having to remove one tooth (or was it two?) like a year ago, since they had died. They've been replaced with some porcelain denture now. I still feel quite bad about this one even though it was an accident. We're still good friends nonetheless!

    Gig Amps

Hmm, $600 is going to limit you to mostly entry level tube amp options as far as I can tell. You might find some sweet second hand deals though. You should see if you can find a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe on ebay or craigslist or something like that. It's really a fantastic amp. Handles hard rock great - for metal though, you'd probably need to use pedals. If I wasn't getting a DSL401 (two days to go!) this would probably be my second choice. To give you an idea what it sounds like:
  15. Heh, probably one of my favourite songs from them. A lot of it because LaBrie's voice actually works well in it.
  16. Thin Lizzy Black Label Society Porcupine Tree Black Stone Cherry Pantera Hibria UFO Killswitch Engage Killer Tool
  17. I like some of their songs but I really do not like LaBrie's voice. If they kicked him and hired a vocalist that didn't sound like George Michael they would probably be amazing. There's such a vast amount of talent in that band.

    Gig Amps

The MGs are the [cabbage]tiest Marshall amps, you do not want to buy one of those. Goodluck cranking that thing up at a gig and think you'll have a decent tone. Pre-teen guitar players snatch those things up so they can say they have a big bad Marshall amp; not caring how it sounds. Can't blame Marshall for making amps like this, but if you are serious about how your guitar sounds and not how large it is, I would recommend going for something with tubes instead of a transistor trying valiantly to sound like vacuum tubes. That said, there are of course good transistor amps like the Randall RG100ES, Randall Century 200, Randall RG100G3+, Randall Warhead 2 (not 1!!) etc. if you really want one. Kids don't seem to like the notion of having to take care and maintain the expensive things they buy, which is one of the differences between transistor and tube amps. Also, tone. It would probably help people more if they knew how much you're willing to spend, and what type of music you play. Also how big gigs are we talking?
  19. I don't care what you say, this is a magnificent album. :colbert:
  20. I laughed pretty hard at the scene with the spider with tourette's.
  21. Hmm no, you're confusing a country with a goal-line which are two quite different things. 'Finnish' is correct. I fail to see how it's relevant, though. It's worrying to see this trend developing in a Nordic country. Could just as well have been Sweden since our gun laws are pretty much the same.
  22. Because most metal fans are nerds. You're a nerd. I'm like a HP Pavilion in a world full of Alienwares. *snaps fingers*
  23. Oh that trainwreck (the post, not you. Heh). And no I'm still clinging onto my leap-of-faith-esque belief that people like the music they listen to because they like how it sounds and the way it makes them feel. Call me old-fashioned but that's what I think it boils down to. I never said metal music has more nerds than other music genres though ('sup electronica?), but metal music surely has [cabbage]load of juice to get anal and nerdy about, and therefore they are more prominent. And nerds tend to be very vocal about that [cabbage] whether we like it or not (we don't) - often derailing decent forum threads or real-life conversations to a point where you just want to remove their vocal chords - or in the case of forum threads, their hands. Also I hope you know that I was being sarcastic when I said the part about internet psychologists being the best. :) They're [wagon].
  24. Been trying to formulate a response to this for the past minute. All I can seem to come up with is: 1. What? 2. Who are you?
