Does anyone know of any French clan chats?
highlanders replied to Obtaurian's topic in Help and Advice
Jagex is releasing a french version soon, so that will help. Honestly though, if you want to practise your french, I recommend going on french internet forums, the RS filtrer blocks a lot of french words, and french internet slang is horrible. For instance, -"chu pas sur se ke je vai faire aujordui" -"pk?" -"ben avec lupdate pis le novo monstre, choisi koi?" -"mdr, ben moii jvai aller manger la" " -"ok a tantot" Which would be..: -"Je ne suis pas certain quoi faire aujourd'hui" -"Pourquoi?" -"Bien, entre la mise à jour et le nouveau monstre, que choisir?" -"Lol, moi je vais aller manger maintenant" -"D'accord, à plus tard" Runescape is a great choice if you want to learn how to write and talk french badly, but not if you want to learn the language properly. On french internet forums, the french tend to be real grammar nazis, which is good if you want to learn to write properly. I'm french, it's my first language, you can always pm me if you want to talk french I guess o__O And proceeded to go steal all your wives. :twss: -
The Majority of Rune Armour and Weapons?
highlanders replied to Tbfgraphx14's topic in General Discussion
Monster drops. P2P monsters drop a lot of them, rather often. -
Yeah, skills are for fun. Like, all of Runescape is useless and is just for fun too. You could pop in all the threads about skills, and efficiency on this forum, and deem everything that people say to be invalid because RS is for "fun". That's the thing; you don't bring up "fun" as an argument in a logical conversation. Even if the game is useless and just for fun, we can still discuss the efficiency and usefulness of skills. A lot of people play Runescape to achieve goals, so they look for the most efficient way to go about it, hence why like haft of the Runesape threads on this forum are about efficiency, training methods, what's useless and what's not. Everyone knows the game is just for fun, still people want to achieve the most as possible. So in short, bringing up "fun" in a logical argument is extremely off-topic. Firemaking is useless, for instance. Sure maybe it's "fun" to some, it's still useless in a gaming optic. "Fun" being something incalculable, and unique to each individual, it has no place in a logical conversation. Every once in a while, one of those melodramatic topics about how players only care about levels anymore pops up. "But what about the FUN??!! This game is supposed to be about the fun! Why all the hate?! ". Now that's the time to talk about fun.

A Halloween Review (Warning: Minor wall of text)

My thoughts on the broom exactly. A levitating broom would have been much more interesting, they kinda ruined it. -
Player Moderators: Are They Really Worthy?
highlanders replied to @Dan3HitU's topic in General Discussion
Sure, someone that isn't an [wagon], not on a powertrip, and doesn't demand to be worshipped. Believe it or not, that's actually pretty difficult to find. If it gets us rid of the pmods, hell yeah. -
You have to realize something. Skills have a technical use. Smithing is needed for usables, like bolts. But monetary-wise, most skills lose money, and are therefore useless, monetarily. Smithing is useless apart from usables. People use barrows, and dragon. People don't need rune armour anymore, it doesn't make any profit, nor does any other armour. P2P monsters drop plenty of rune items and people just need 1 set of armour to train, so the price of armour is low, and the demand is rather low too. Smithing is outdated for the most part, people have no incensitive to train it.

Well, that's your opinion, but I reckon 20M fish exp is worth more than a quest cape.

Player Moderators: Are They Really Worthy?
highlanders replied to @Dan3HitU's topic in General Discussion
There's definitively some mods who deserved their status, and some who didn't. But at the end of the day, it's their attitude that's the most annoying. I don't like people who defend Jagex all the time out of some sort of misplaced faith into them. And I especially don't like people who put themselves on a pedestal acquired by kissing someone's(in this case, a company's) [wagon]. All the noobs follow them around, noobstruck in awe and keep complimenting them and whatnot. Well, that's a good thing, noobs go and annoy these suckers. What's annoying though, is when they brag about it, or use it. For instance, I offer my opinion on a clan chat, and a pmod says his opinion at the same time. Then in a very typical fashion, the noobs go omg stfu the pmod is more right than you are. And that, regardless of the fact I know more about the subject than that sucker does. Now the polite thing to say from the pmod to the noobs would be, listen chaps, I'm a pmod but I don't necessarily know more about the game than any other normal player. Do they do that? Nah, they enjoy their ego getting petted, that's why they accepted becoming a mod to begin with, even if they know it is an unrewarding noob-swarmed job. The day I meet a pmod with a good attitude, then we'll see. But for now, pmods are useless and unecessary. They just create a gap between ordinary players, and for what? It's a blindly given title, hit and miss. Sometimes Jagex hits someone with good discernment, and sometimes jagex misses and gives the mute power to a complete idiot. And that's the thing, they miss so often it's not worth it. -
RuneScape Official Forums - The Stupidity is amazing
highlanders replied to XxTearGodxX's topic in Rants
It isn't so much that tif is moronic, it's that people keep arguing, nitpicking, and can't get along even if their lives depended on it. Well, there's some stupidity, but that would be on the off-topic section. -

I stopped reading haft-way through, its a bunch of pointless ramblings you write about runescape for your college work. Honestly, thats pretty pathetic >.> Lol, I wonder how the teacher is going to react. My money's on "wtf?" -
It ruined any possibility of making profit off most skills. You used to be able to make profit off of herblore, fletching, cooking, smithing, etc, if you had a high level enough and used the right methods. Now, people want the skillcapes and are ready to spend money to get exp, so now several skills are now completely useless monetary-wise. It didn't ruin Runescape, but it had some unforseen consequences. The skillcapes should have never been introduced. Now people want 99s for the wrong reason: bragging rights, and not because they actually enjoy the skill.

Battle begins for online role players (FT.com)
highlanders replied to me's topic in General Discussion
Lol, do you realize which company you're talking about? It is Sony, the big japanese electronics company that made the playstation 3, the blue-ray, and is basically one of the leading company in electronics. They will succeed. And their game should be pretty good too. -
That's the thing, if a thread is at the wrong place, you're supposed to report it, not post on it. So when someone posts going all omg this post is at the wrong place you should be ashamed of yourselves, then that comes off as really hypocritical. But when people posting stuff like everyone knows they're just spamming for the heck of it, unlike wanna-be mods who take themselves so seriously and only come off as attention-seeking hypocrites. Because seriously, you're not supposed to post on these threads, so serious wanna-be mods won't post, you will never hear about them. But if you feel the need to brag about how much of a kiss-[wagon] you are by posting a lenghtly and unecessary explanation as to why the thread should be locked, that screams attention-seeking A LOT.

Well if you count all the rares of the people who quit throughout the years: and thus are f2p, I think it may be f2p. Also, there's like 4m f2ps versus 1m members? They've got the numbers, and the rares. So I'll say f2p.

Gilded or Guided Altars, how do you spell it?
highlanders replied to Seogege's topic in Questionnaires
Seeing as "guilded" isn't even a word, gilded duh >.> -
Yey, there's a sequel coming

Quality > quantity

F2p games with cash shop is generally for crappier games, not commercial-quality, less polished. RS is p2p quality. And cash shops screw the games economies, its best to avoid them.
-
Well you can always try deutch or pvp worlds. But courtesy is nonexistant in RS, don't even hope for it.
-
Didnt the uk government invest tons of money to solidify their economy lately? Jagex should be fine.
-
For some reason I have lots of success making money in other mmorpgs, but in RS it's like I'm cursed or something. Maybe someday... :
