Sorry for double post, but the last post is over a week old So, last night I had a lucid dream. It was quite short, but still an amazing experience. I was in my old school I haven't been at in the last three years. I didn't really even think about that though. Then suddenly I remembered that I've been on a vacation for a week and couldn't be at school. Then I realized it was just a dream. To be sure I looked at my hands and both had six fingers :o Then I ran outside and started flying around the school. Then it started raining and I decided to wake up. Fun while it lasted :)
  2. Wow, this thread still exists :o There's my post on page 49 :P THE GAME

Last night I was reading this topic. I read about reality checks, and noticed the device failure part. A bit after that I decided to add music from my computer to my iPod, which has worked without a single problem for two and half years. Surprisingly, it didn't work this time. I quickly looked around my room to see if there's anything weird. Sadly, the cat sleeping on my bed was still black as always, the clock was 4am ( ) no matter how many times I checked, and everything else was normal too. Damn. (Well, at least the iPod works again, it was only a temporary failure) Anyway, this sounds really interesting and I absolutely must try this. My imagination is always running wild anyway, I can pretty much dream when I'm awake (this happens often at school :-P ) I think I'll try the WILD method tonight. I'm not really afraid of scary looking monsters or anything like that, so I don't have to worry about illusions. I can only be scared by surprise and bugs.

My mandatory education (9 years here in Finland) is over
  5. Because we went there, obligatory xkcd: But really, now that Emacs has a vim emulator, the conclusion is simple; vim is the best editor, and Emacs is the best operating system. This was added as an "easter egg" after that xkcd comic :P
  6. I use Emacs. It has everything and even more. It's really hard to use though, I had to print the commands on paper to remember them. There are SIX pages of commands, and those are just the basic ones. With plugins there's a ton more. This picture explains the difficulty really well: Not only does it do basic stuff like syntax highlighting, but it also has version control, debugger, spellcheck, web browser, mail reader, TETRIS etc.

Only two weeks of school left.
  8. Quite nice. Loads very quickly, and not too simple but not too complex either. However, there are some things I don't like. First: those "Read more" links. You could make those bold or colored or something, now they look like normal text and it's harder to notice that they're links. And second: the history section. It's a wall of text. No one wants to read anything like that. The layout is well done, and so is the navbar. I'm not a good web designer either, but I hope this still helps :)
  9. Just watched How to Train Your Dragon. Didn't look like very interesting, but because I'm a huuuuuuuuge fantasy fan, I decided to watch it. And I loved it. The first movie ever that has made me go "Awwwww" <3:
  10. Franchise = "A brand name under which a series of products is released." Many of the games listed are single games, not franchises.
  11. That sounds interesting, I will have to try that as I've had the problem you detailed... That's what has been turning me off using Ubuntu, and now I may just come back :P If I have to resort to that, I'm going to be very turned off from using ubuntu, as that will likely mean I'd be looking at a number of other semi-convoluted things to make other items work, including writing/using '.BAT' files for DosBox. (Already have to keep jumping back to windows to write one and save it in a format DosBox accepts, dangit.) <_< Looks like WinXP might be the last OS I will ever use. My dad goes solid ubuntu like he's thinking of, I'll be offline for good. No point using a computer if usability isn't as good as security, especially when both Java (with RuneScape) and Flash (with XgenStudios "Stick Arena: Ballistick") are big things for me. :( ~D. V. "End of my computing days... What an awful thought..." Devnull (p.s.: To everyone, your mileage may vary severely... Mine is always landmined because of my dad's total inability to at least accept the fact that I have an interest in something... Bugs me every time...) For me RS works really oddly. I'm using Arch Linux myself. Safe mode works without problems: [spoiler=Safe mode] HD works just fine too (4xAA causes some camera lag and particles don't work at all, but everything else works): [spoiler=HD] However, SD doesn't work :?: Also fullscreen doesn't work with resolutions over 1024x768 and resizable doesn't fill the screen completely, but otherwise it's just fine. Oh and ping doesn't work in the world select screen, but that's not a real problem. Some distros seem to work better than others, I managed to get it to work perfectly in Xubuntu.
  12. I hate those kinds of programs. If parents want to control their kids' internet use, they can tell what sites can be visited and what cannot, and if they see the kid on a site s/he should not visit, don't allow him/her to use the internet at all. Those stupid filters rarely (never) work properly. Openness from both sides is much better. Of course this is just my opinion. Anyway, Linux live cd is the solution if you can get one somewhere.
  13. Not even a single 80+ skill after over four and half years of playing :wall:
  14. I've played that game and yes it's pretty cool. Another similar thing is Wolf5k (a Wolfenstein 3D "clone" which is only 5 kB). You can play it here, but it's coded in a really weird way and runs only on very old browsers. Netscape 6 ran it fine under Windows XP.
  15. Yeah, post your HijackThis log. I myself don't know anything about them but I'm sure that someone will ask for it. BTW system restore won't delete your files. Oh, and try to install Java using the offline installer.
  16. "Reality" yeah...

I did what I should have done a long time ago.
  18. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you like Coke. How did you know?! :P
  19. TTs and Miscellania currently.
  20. 79 Woodcutting. And I've played for over four years and my total level is 1507. :wall:
  21. 46 summoning if I remember right.
  22. My desk is a mess. if you can name the game (yes, it's a game!) on the screen ;)
  23. Everyone makes that mistake at some point. Lesson learned: make backups.
  24. How much is "10% of HTML"? Knowing the tags isn't enough to make you a master - you need to learn how to use them. And that requires time and practice. By the way, don't try to make a new, complex game. Do something simple first. A single RPG fight is very good for a first game. Quite easy to make, but still requires the basic things of every single game - input (what you want to do), logic (what happens - damage calculations etc) and output (show what happened). Oh and as said before, begin with a non-web based language. I also recommend Python, as it's very easy to learn.

I think I will actually buy it. :)
