First the Wilderness Ditch, Now This?(May Someone Lock This)
trunksrs replied to Dogman112018's topic in General Discussion
As much as I hate the idea of the passwords being blocked, I just thought of something. If they undo this now, after everyone has already been told their password is blocked, could you imagine how easy it would be for scammers to get people to say their password. -
Jagex said once that it wasn't in the spirit of the game to do that, I'll try to look through the archives and find it. But it does make the game extremely boring. Do you really need to win by 10 points? It's not like you get a bigger reward. All it leads to is the loosing team just leaving. I was going to suggest something, but while typing I realized a really big, really obvious flaw. Besides, I liked the idea about the 5 minutes thing better.

I'm laughing right now  But not because of this. Seriously I was laughing of something else, I can't see the funny part of these jokes. Maybe like some people say I have lack sense of humour. :-k I'm not sure about the first one, but the two about the deer are supposed to be plays on words (I'd assume the first one was too) A deer with no eyes No-eye-deer A deer with no eyes and no legs Still no-eye-deer Wow, a good your momma joke. Haven't heard one of those since third grade. Ok, now for my jokes. ------------------------- An engineer died and ended up getting sent to hell. A few weeks later, God and Satan where chatting. God asked Satan how things were going down in hell. He replied "It's great. We got that new engineer down there, and he's put in elevators and AC units and some pools, he's just been fixing everything up." God said "Wait a minute, that was a mistake. He was supposed to go up to heaven with us. You have to give him back, or we'll be forced to sue you. Satan looked at God and said "Yea, where are YOU gunna find a lawyer?" ------------------------- How many Harvard students does it take to screw in a light bulb? One. She just holds it in place and the world revolves around her. ------------------------- A resent major university study suggests that beer companies have been adding female hormones to their products. 100 men were used as test subjects, and were each given 12 pints of beer. No further testing is planned. -------------------------

If what 123youregone is saying is true, it could seriously effect treasure hunters too. I have to run past the mage bank several times when treasure hunting, and have never had much trouble there. But if there are now mobs of pkers there looking for the now easy kills, I'll have a bit of a problem getting passed with only my dragon dagger equipped. I do think that not clearing tb after logging out is a good idea. I don't really understand why they would make it so that it didn't. I also understand why they would make it so that telebock prevents you from using the levers. That deep in the wilderness shouldn't have an easy escape option like that. Maybe the best thing for this particular part of the problem would be for Jagex to finally fix tagging. Or perhaps a new potion or magical item to erase a tb. There have been a couple quests (Wanted! is the main one to come to mind) were they talk about people who's teleportation abilities are too strong for conventional tb spells, so perhaps there could be a way for players to get those increased teleportation abilities.

I noticed a really nice increase, but dropped it the same day I got it. It could very well have been nerfed since.

Lol the forums are hell enough, Do I want to imagine F2P using it? maybe they should let them use it for $3 a month. Yes! That would be great. An then charge only $2 a month for the game if you don't want to use their mentally challanged forums. Seriously, I hate their forums, I don't wanna be charged to nt use them.

One thing that i have noticed myself since the release of RS2 as unfair is melee armors. Range and Magic combat gets most of its power from the armor, so you have to wear correct armor to be effective. However, melee gets all of its power from the weapons, with the exception of a few small strength bonuses, so meleers can use any armor they want to modify their defensive power without hurting their offensive power, allowing them to fight effectively against both mages and rangers.
-
At least you got free teleports that day.
-
Well, it depends on if you need cash. If you have all the money you need, then there isn't any more of a reason to sell it than there is to keep it, but if you could buy some shiny new armor with it, go ahead and sell it and have fun with the game.

I took the liberty of translating this into English: "You all raise very valid points which I can't refute, therefore I'll simply ignore them all together." No, I don't think that's what he's saying. It's the same reason I stopped posting, both sides where bringing the same thing up over and over, and the argument wasn't going anywhere. Well, that and I got Sims Pets, and RuneScape fell out of my radar. I was writing one last post, arguing a couple last points, and saying qeltar made some very good points, but I still believed it was parents not doing their jobs. I was almost done and accidentally closed the wrong tab, so I said screw it.

Well, I have began reading part 2, and have found several problems with you. Let's see what facts are on your side. Hence the second trade window, where it is impossible to change your offers. I quick look at the list will tell you exactly what you are getting. Many items? How many high demand items in the game "look like each other" The ones that have in the past, such as dragon and bronze weapons, have had graphic changes. And, again, there is a very handy second trade window that writes out what the item is instead of using a picture. Yes, I big pop-up window that makes your character stop moving, and clearly tells you if you go any further north, you can get attacked by other players gives no warning that you can be attacked by other platers. First of all, how much programming does the author know for them to be able to state that said change only requires a few minutes? And again, there is a second trade screen, where you cannot make a switch, and it had clearly written out the name of the spear. I don't see any evidence here that the poster has any clue at all as to how this bug works. And, as I have stated, they have warned about this bug, though, I admit, they should be sure to have a reminder so newer players are aware of it. As I said early, it is a very drastic stretch to say that a game is actually teaching people that it is ok to steal and murder. It would be one thing if it actually taught you how to pick locks and pockets, but it doesn't. The author downplays the report system several times. It isn't that bad. They have already changed the way 0s appear so they don't look like Os, and I know a good bit of players who didn't like the way the 0s looked. And it has never taken me so long to figure out how many spaces I needed that I could not longer report someone. I'd like to see the author right up a better chat system. I feel the one they have in place does a great job of blocking inappropriate language, if not a bit overzealous. Maybe a good solution would be to provide a link in the parents guide to another guide about avoiding scams. And some information about how to report people for verbal attacks, as well as a warning that when playing with thousands of other players, there is a possibility that someone could verbally attack you. And the parents guide has a link to get more information about player mods, where it goes into alot more detail about what they do. I don't see how the facts are on your side.

Yes.. Jagex needs to do thiis. ~q I really don't see Jagex pointing any fingers. And if you mean they need to take responsibilties for their actions: Admitting that they were wrong to allow luring and changing their rules to consider it a scam was being responsible. Putting more and more warning signs on the wilderness was being responsible. Making updates like the stronghold of security to teach people how to protect their accounts was being responsible. Loosing ad revenue by replacing some ads with security tips was being responsible. Changing the terms of service saying to say you shouldn't play unless you are 13 was being responsible. Now, in my last post, I made several arguments as to why people need to stop pointing fingers at Jagex, and your only rebuttal was "Well, Jagex are the ones that need to be responsible" Do you have the book? It is official. It was produced by Jagex, they are the copyright holder. And they are marketing it to kids and pre-teens. This book is not by Jagex. First of all, if it were, they surely would try to sell the members version of the game, not just go through the free version. Second, the author describes the game as "the medieval world of RuneScape". Jagex has stated several times that their game does not take place in a medieval time period, and I highly doubt they would refer to it as such here. Third, it is published by Scholastic, and I'm pretty sure Jagex would find a publisher more suited to their product. Also, if they were the ones making the book, then it would be extra profit for them, and you can bet they would be advertising it on their site. Finally, the author is Tracey West. The Jagex corporate site lists all people working on RuneScape, and West is nowhere mentioned. Not only that, but West has also written several other books, including a nice heaping pile of Pokemon books. I don't think someone could officially work for 2 different game companies. If you need more evidence, look at the book cover. It is clearly derived from this wallpaper image. Notice the differences. If it was made by Jagex, they would have just used their own copyrighted picture. However, since it is not by Jagex, A new cover image had to be made. It's a lot more than a "handful". Again dodging the argument brought up, by focusing on one word that was not the best suited choice. The arguments against Jagex are severly exhadurated(sp?) while only a small percentage are misbehaving. Walk through Varrock, out of the hundreds of people on any one server, how many of them are actually going out of there way to scam and cause problems? The player moderators were mentioned only peripherally. My main point was not criticizing them but simply pointing out that they are effectively powerless. Jagex needs to manage its own game, not push the job off on players who can't do much of anything anyway. You say they don't do anything to make the game better, then criticize one of the steps they took. RuneScape is a community. It is the duty of the members of the community to make sure things are running smoothly. The fact that they were invited as a mod is proof that they have helped rulebreakers get caught, and are therefore given a bit more power. Player mods are completely voluntary positions taken by people who have done more than their fair share to help clean up. Should a government use military to keep order instead of a police force with a great deal less authority? Well, it's only been resulting in people getting scammed for what, 10 months now? They have warned people about scams with player owned houses, and have told people to be careful what to take into other people's houses. Yes, more could be done, and they are taking steps to resolve the problem. How much work does it take to post an announcement warning people not to take expensive items into others' houses -- compared to writing an Easter event or overhauling the poll system? Again, they have posted warnings about this. They have even made it their policy to not allow people to announce events that take place outside of the party house in seers village. The do periodically, for no real apparent reason, post security reminders. Only regular C. Again -- relevance? Am I taking in 50 million clams a year and telling people that I value stopping scams as a priority? You are saying they are not trying to fix problems with the game. If you have no experiance, how do you know how hard it is to fix these problems. They have to search lines upon lines of code, sometimes looking for nothing more than a misplaced period or a ( instead or a {

People really need to stop pointing fingers and step up and take responsibility for their own mistakes. Yes, Jagex is not perfect, they have made mistakes. But this article is pointing fingers at Jagex, trying to take all the blame off the parents. Under no circumstances should young children be allowed to use the internet unsupervised. The article said there are children as young as five playing. Yes, I know this is true, my little brother started when he was five, and he always had me standing over his shoulder looking out for him. I would not let a five year old on Nickjr.com without checking it out myself first. The point that annoyed me the most was in game killing. Yes, people and monsters respawn after you kill them. But I highly doubt it is "teaching" players that when you kill something, it magically comes back to life. If anyone of any age believes that, they seriously have much bigger problems than a game. And if they do believe that, then it is the PARENT's responsiblity to step in and teach them otherwise. Get them a golfish, and when it dies, don't say you sent it off to a farm. It's rediculous that parents try to hide facts of life from their kids, and then when games and tv ignore death, they're the ones at fault. Not every game that has killing in it is automatically rated M. Final Fantasy has killing in much the same way as RuneScape, and it is reated T, which, amazing, is 13+, the same rating as RuneScape. What sets then apart from M rated games is they are not as graphic, do not use the same language, do not show the gore, and do no have nudity. And since by 13, you REALLY should have an understanding of death, a T rating is fine for games where you can kill.

this is the rants forum, not the complaints forum
trunksrs replied to neogeo0823's topic in General Discussion
I'll admit, when that rant got stickied, it took me a while to find it. Mainly because I had already read the "how to write a good rant" sticky, so I wasn't looking at the stickies for anything new. Maybe if common rants being stickied becomes common enough, it will attract more attention. -
Is there going to be a Secret Santa this year?
trunksrs replied to The_Dragon_Reborn's topic in General Discussion
Well, when movie channels are running movies like "Elf" and "Christmas with the Kranks" in October........ Is it even possible to be to early for Christmas anymore? God, I hate commercialism.... -
What old updates do you remember the most?
trunksrs replied to Atroxide's topic in General Discussion
I remember when RS2 first came out. At first I hated it. Everything was different and I got completely lost around Barbain Village I think. It just looked too different and completely threw me off. But I kept playing beta until I got used to everything. -

Actually, I was reminded earlier today that I promised to cover someone elses shift at work, and won't be home till 4:30 myself. So....... 5:00 p.m. sound good? I should still be able to do it that night. -
Is it really that much trouble to click a mouse and spen maybe 5 seconds to do the emote? As long as people are polite about it, and actually ASK instead of DEMAND, I'm more than happy to oblige.

Ya, I noticed that setting box traps has a much lower level requirement than the chinchompas. I hadn't noticed you couldn't use meat to bait them yet, but I assumed the new quest would add more tox trap creatures.

"w00t" doesn't sound like proper english "I got" doesn't sound like proper english I think that was shout down before hunter even got thrown in there. And "I have 99 hunter" "I have 99 hunting" Neither one of them really sound like proper english. And to Adam, the er suffix makes it a noun, not a verb. Slayer is a person that slays. Hunter is a person that hunts. And, since it is referring to a skill, technically they are all nouns, sense a skill is a noun. That's why you can "have" a high leveled skill.

Get them back. When I was huntin Larupias, I would watch who the theives were, and steal their luprias. Then I moved on to deadfalls. No problems with the fishing ones, a few people were nice enough to take turns, then I eventually found one tucked down in the corner by the red birds no one seemed to know about. Once I got enough exp there, I went for the spiny kebbits. Before I even got done checking to see if there were any empty spots, someone says "go away newb". If he would have said " could you please move to another rock" (which I was going to do anyway) it would have been fine. Instead, he got all rude with me, so I made sure he didn't get a chance to use that rock again.

At least 54. My lowest skill is 53, and I don't want other skills lower than it is.
