Nooooo! Video games do not need a movie to go with them. Think how nerdy you would be if your friends came to your house and saw Runescape the movie along with pokemon the movie, the complete set of marykate and ashley, wishbone... oh wait... not everybody has those?

lalalasig2.png

What kind of movie would it be? An animated movie? About what? There isn't really a good story line that could be used...

It would just attracted more younger kids, which is something that is not allowed (your not allowed to play unless your 13 or older), and is a big problem in today's Runescape.

Are you saying you have all those others? :P

No one would take it seriously. Everyone who plays wouldn't go see it because 1. They're f2p and wouldn't understand some of the things in it (like me) or 2. If they're members they would be like "It'll probably be like f2p with everyone calling each other noob." And everyone who doesn't play would be like "OMFG isn't Runescape a kids' game?????"

On the age issue: age doesn't necessarily correlate with maturity. I'm sure 12- and 13-year-old's aren't the only nuisances online.

As for the movie itself... you would have to make the graphics good to make it worth watching. But after people see the movie and go play the game, they're probably thinking "wtf why gfx suk bad????"

Not all that likely. (Other than that, it's a nice idea... I'd watch it.)

I am a tree.

No, I don't have the third episode of marykate and ashley :wall:

If it makes you happy, I don't own any of the movies I listed, and sorry for getting this off-topic.

The only way they could possibly pull this off is that they make it either non-animated or very good animated (NOT the Java grahpics,) and the storyline is about the God Wars or something historical/non-player type thing.

"The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."

Maybe instead of a movie, they outa do more of a mini series. Make each quest an episode, that way when new quests came out they could just make new episodes. Though I guess it would be a very large mini series with over 100 quests :wall: . But, if they did do a movie or series, imo it would be best if it wasnt animated, that way you couldnt be to disapointed with the graphics. And I would definitly aim more toward teens and young adults, get your most money from them \'

Current goal: Getting enough prayer pots to finish my last four quests.

Ahem, I happen to be a 3-D animator. My skills aren't great but it would look better than runescape itself. Just throwin that out there. Take it as you will.

Doom the movie has NO potential rofl, it's a total flop.

Anyways, RS movie wouldn't be that great idea, lol.

Ever wondered how BORING it would be to watch a person growing a magic tree for what, 20 hours? and then how that person would fletch for another 2 months?

Pixels make me horny.

A RS movie? It would probably be something like this:

Yeah! Finally lvl 84 mining! I'm only 1 lvl away from mining runite!

*Continues to mine over and over and over and over.....* -.-

Well, if it wasn't about skill leveling or computer stuff, it would probably be okay... But I still wouldn't go see it as I don't want anyone I know irl to find out I play RS. :ohnoes:

Pretty much what Dragon said.

Thread terminated.

Hey, no dissin' Doom! Or one of those creepy imps will rip your skull off.

When I say it had potential, I mean it had a story, characters and stuff.

jjroxlu7.jpg

NOO! Get rid of that thought right now!

If they did that then it would bring runescape into the news, and there would be crackpot phyciartrists on shows like GMTV saying how runescape is bad for your health, and that you should floss twice a day to prevent eye explosions.

Also, there would be so much bad publicity, and runescape would swell with investigations about some kid who played too much and tryed to be a gnome pilot, and ended up at the bottom of a cliff.

If they did it wrong, runescape would collapse, and the economy would fall into ruins, and people with no life will infest the world as we know it.

Runescape is a good game, but wouldnt be a good film....

But then again, if they did it right, it would be very popular (for a couple of months, then it would be like pokemon and yugioh. A craze one minute, then something to be ashamed of liking. ) \'

No no no.. Not a good idea.

I think maybe a movie loosely related to one of the quest plots, such as Ghosts Ahoy which had a very good story I think. That *Might* be good, if it was with real people instead of animated. I'd probably watch it,then.

But not something like a player is over here doing all of the skills, that would be a boring flop. It would get bad reviews, and people would stop playing RuneScape, and move on to something way more not boring. It's fun if you're the one playing, but watching someone else? Noo...

[hide=Quotes that I lol'd at]

the day the fantastic four come into runescape, i will eat my socks.

what kind of topic is this. ihaven't read it yet

but i now it must be stupid.

[/hide]

Runescape is already laughed about when the word is even spoken in public. It would get laughed out of the box office to tell you the truth.

MMORPG becoming a movie. Is kinda...strange. I would think.

Good idea, but not do able.

  • Author

You all seem to be assuming that it would be poorly made or based strictly upon the game....

I think it has AMAZING potential. Seems I must come up with a storyline myself since you're all imagining terrible ones for some reason. :S

Ok, so off the top of my head:

Some teenagish guy with slightly elongated ears, starts off in a village called lumbridge, something to this effect:

http://marksquires.com/Images_Photos/do ... 2002sc.jpg

-- Filled out with dialogue and what-not --

I'm thinking he could like, find out he's a elf, and have to go the elf town (I forget the name, I don't play anymore) but he was raised always as human, so he's all like crap at everything, and he has to make a long and interesting journey to the elf place.

I just made that up as I was writing it but you get the idea... it could most definitely be done VERY well I think. What's more if it was CGI it'd be immensely interesting (to me at least) to see Varrock, Elf town, the various NPCs and monsters in realistic detail. I'm quite sure my view of the game would change a LOT.

From this point on then, imagine if it WAS made well, and was as popular as say Jurassic Park. You're all saying it's a bad idea cuz it would be made badly... but the whole point was not "what if they made an RS movie really badly" :P

Meh, screw the whole thing you all seem to have completely missed the point. :x

I quite liked the Resident Evil movies and loved the games... But I can't see RuneScape goin to the big screen
