Oh man, I'd hate to be the dude who somehow just managed to lose the AIDS virus...Hope he wasn't from Africa. Those [developmentally delayed]ed people down there would start raping him thinking it would cure them like they do now to virgins...Ahh...

But seriously...I'd hate to be that guy. They'd run every test on Earth to figure that one out. You'd pretty much be a free lab rat...I mean, you can't say "Sorry, I don't want to do this..." because then you're a [puncture]...But if you DO do it, then you have to endure a buncha' tests over and over.

That's pretty tight to say. They don't have acess to education so they don't really know alot so it isn't their fault. Im sure the whole of africa doesn't rape virgins either :?

No, it's mostly army rebels and stuff that do that, I think. And you can't blame lack of education on that...It's kinda' common sense that a virgin doesn't have medicinal properties.

It's reeeeeally bad over there sometimes, though. They rape babies and stuff. They're weird. Honestly, I don't think it's lack of sexual education that would make someone rape a baby. It's more like lack of common sense or any shred of decency.

I remember him, it was all over the newspapers for days. I doubt it was true though, I think he may have been mis-diagnosed originally.

I know get what your saying but i bet that it's just a tiny percentage that have actually raped a baby and stuff like that.

Its NOT common sense however, tirgra, when the leaders of your country publicly announce that herbs and roots work better than medicine. In a country of very low education you cant blame them entirely for their lack of understanding. They are desperate people and if you genuinely belived that sex with a virgin would cure you would you honestly say you wouldnt even give it a thought?

I'm not sure about the guy but I know there was a girl who lost it. I remember reading an article about how she considered herself to be the luckiest woman alive.

Vaccine for AIDS? Maybe. A cure for AIDS? No.

They aint never curing AIDS. There aint no money in the cure. The money's in the medicine.

You're completely right and it's the saddest thing. Instead making a positive contribution to the world, the drug corporation(s) who find a way to fight (by either cure or medicine) HIV/AIDS will just sit back and make a killing from these drugs while watching literally tens of millions of poor uneducated people (including children) from all over the world diea slow and horrible death fromthis disease.

You may see this hypothesis as far fetched but it is the most likely outcome if science is able to battle this disease in any strong way.

Hey, that greed is responsible for humanity's rise to dominance over the world. Take away greed, you take away incentive to advance. If it weren't for greed, we'd still be sitting in caves, worshipping the sun, and dying at age 20.

I'll say first that I have absolutely no problem with greed. Greed being good or bad is subjective to every person.

But I am going to have to disagree with you on the advancement of human race being solely based on greed. Without greed it's plausible that we wouldn't be this advanced, we would be just as advanced, or we could even be more advanced. Sometimes people being greedy and doing what is best for themselves does help out the advancement of the race. But there are other times when it wouldn't. Personally I am on the greed is good side, and think it has helped more than it has hurt. I won't deny it has hurt before.

This is true. University of Western London Ontario Canada may have found a REAL vaccine. The way you make a vaccine is you look for a sequence of protien that shows up on all strands of the virus. Isolate the sequence and inject it into someone and their immune system will recognize the sequence as foriegn, then will produce antibodies against that particular sequence. Your body also remembers the sequence for future exposure. The problem with HIV is that it keeps changing its outer shell, making it very hard for researchers to find a sequence which applies to all HIV that exists.

UWO may have found an epitope (sequence) at the base of the viruses receptors. This may lead to a vaccine, its being heavily researched and will show up in the news. Hope that cleared it up.

There are many, many vaccins for AIDS, and lots of em currently undergoing test trials. With the use of new techniques (which I'm not at all going to explain here) there has been a lot going on in the development of new types of vaccins/cures for diseases like AIDS. But don't expect a "total cure" just now. Viruses are extremely hard to exterminate.

Very true, theres a video out there showing how small a virus is compared to normal red blood cells and a other wack of things. They're amazingly small and very hard to detect.

The want for knowlege is different from the want of money. We are inquisitive beings and want to know more about the universe around us which is why we have advanced so much. Greed just means we have the capacity to take advantage of others for our own gain. Greed is selfish while knowlege is not. You mentioned insentive? Greed is insentive of 3 things only: my, myself and I. Knowlege is attained through the natural insentive of an inquiring human nature.

I've been doing a little research and have discovered something. AIDS vaccines have been found multiple times in the past; the most recent being 2002. In 2002 a trial AIDS vaccine was given out to people who suffered from the disease. It however was tested on chimpanzees first, and it worked. However on the humans, out of 15000 people tested, only 3.8% showed no traces of the disease afterwards. Although it seemed like there was some success, it could have been that the people that didn't show signs or symptoms never had the disease, or were "progressive non-developers" (I'm not going to go into depth about this, but basically they are people who have the disease but never have symptoms). Most likely this new vaccine is this same thing. A trial which may have worked on animals, but most likely won't work on humans.

Even if it does work, to be approved by the FDA 30% of the people treated need to be cured, which isn't likely at all. It's going to be a long time before a cure for this disease is found. But we can always hope...

Vaccine are suppose to prevents diseases from fully infecting the human body, or reduce the severity or duration.

I think you're talking about a cure here. Vaccines are useless if the disease is running it's course already.
