Yep, this is no common case of teenage angst, you my friend probobly have depression and/or social anxiety disorder. Though some people may not realize it, this is an actual medical condition and over 1/3 of people have it. You can get treatment for it. I wont suggest looking at some internet sites and then talking to an adult that you trust.

GOOD LUCK!

Its natural to have depressive thoughts at your age. Things like hormones are changing the way you feel about certain things ant the smallest things can make you emotional. Its unlikely that you are actually clinically depressed however.

Don't worry man, there's nothing more frustrating and dumbfounding than having to deal with everyone elses [cabbage]. I've been through similar stuff. My brother being an [wagon], my mother being an [wagon], my parents splitting up, other annoying/depressing things that I believe were everyone elses problems but I had to deal with them because I am a family member of these people. I'm too passive to get angry, generally think about my problems and don't heave them onto others and generally don't annoy or insult anyone which makes it all the more frustrating when other people's issues get heaved onto me.

Sorry about talking about myself there and probably sounding like I have some sort of mental issues or something, but I can assure you I don't and my problems are generally other peoples. Sorry for perhaps sounding a bit selfish and arrogant in this post too, I just can't help but get frustrated.

My advice would be to ride it out and stick to focusing on what you want from life. If someone pushes you down, pick yourself up with the peace of mind that you aim for something higher. Listen to music. Find something to pour out your emotions creatively and productively. This last one's a bit cliche, but never give up.

Teen years..... welcome to my world <.<

But I'm not as...advanced...in my case as you. Get out and listen to some Iron Maiden. Play sports. Talk to people. Go to a shrink. That's all I can really say. I deal with being a teen by keeping myself busy, dunno if it works for everyone though.

How about you think about some one other then yourself. It is Teenage Angst. You are just desperate for some attention. Everyone has bad things that are going on in their lives. Yours aren't different from other people's lives who have turned out just the same.

Send some cards to your Aunt, and always keep her in your thoughts and prayers. There's not much else you can do except to stop being so selfish and think about other people.

Maybe a bit of compassion wouldn't go astray. Attention seeking angsty teenager? I was one of those, if that's what you want to call it. I always had to deal with everyone elses [cabbage] as this guy seems to be doing a bit, and your telling him to think of others? Perhaps they should think about what they are doing to him.

bob marley cures depression. start listening.

EDIT:

I've now read the rest of the posts on this thread so I'll expand:

I would totally agree with whoever said join the chess club and by judging from your response you want to join, but don't want to be bullied about it and called a nerd. But that is all just your mindset. I seriously doubt that anyone is going to beat you up or anything too serious. You may get called a nerd once or twice, but so what? just joke it off, that's what I do.

By the way, I'm Vice President of my school's chess club. And to prove to you that you won't get crap for joining up, let me tell you this: I just recently ran for Junior Class Vice President at my school against a really cool, popular, and good looking girl that everyone likes. I did lose, but it was only by 5 freaking votes. Thats pretty close for a nerd I think.

As for music, you should not just give up on it because you think it is all bad. Maybe the popular music is bad with swear words and such, but that doesn't mean all music is bad.

So, listen to Bob Marley. This is a really deep cut and sorta hard to find song, but I think its one of his bests:

also try out some of his more well known hits:

Yes, you are depressed. Anyone who posts on a forum asking if they're depressed is probably depressed. I'm depressed too... I actually like it a bit since I don't have to care about what I do...

I tend to feel like that about 70% of the time i'm awake. You know what I do? I listen to music, lots of it. And..I play games. Lots of games. Become engulfed in role playing games. Elder Scrolls, Runescape, WoW, Conquer, anything that suits your fancy that will keep your mind off your troubles really.

There are no problems Children of Bodom and The Used with some Elder Scrolls and Runescape can't solve. ::'

You forgot System of a Down, even though it's your avatar...

Gotta love that SOAD.

SOAD is very awesome. It is often listened to for the wrong reasons though. It is not a metal band as much as it is a very artistic band. It reminds me of Pink Floyd in a sense. They also have some of the best lyrics of any recent music.

Well, what do you enjoy doing?

Is there any music that picks you up and makes you feel better, are there any comedians you like? Any films you want to see? Have you been hankering after something for a while? Splash out any buy yourself it.

The thing is, you're 13 and a lot of us go through rough stages in our teenage lives. I suppose perversely I've been lucky enough to go through my really rough patch this year when i've been old enough to cope with it better. But it was the little things that got me through most days. I threw myself into my school work, I made sure I spent time with my family, I just did what made me happy.

I think it's early days to diagnose someone of your age with depression over the internet, and if I or anyone else was to you might spiral into a vicious circle of depression.

I'm sure what you're going through now isn't easy, but there are things you can do to make you feel better. Spend time with your auntie, I don't know what kind of cancer it is, but i'm sure she's got a good chance. Talk to your father about your problems, stand up to your brother.

Whatever you do, remember how lucky you are to be alive, no matter how hard life is. You're only 13, you've got so much of your life ahead of you that you're far too young to be thinking suicidal thoughts, so many great people have had rough upbringings but have overcome them to have great lives.

What you are and what you have now will not be the man who you grow up to be.

Well said assassin.

Deffinitly find something you enjoy doing. The fact is every one of us needs a break here and there from real life and our problems and sometimes a break can be what you need.

Also find something that keeps your mind busy. In runescape you have a lot of time to think because it doesn't take much of a thought process. Find something that can more or less try and get your mind off of how things are going.

I was lucky enough that I don't think I've ever really gone through a big 'depression stage' in my life.

Hey, I've been depressed. Thank goodness it's over. A lot of people overlook it, saying 'it's not as bad as you think', but I've heard that this makes people want to prove that it is that bad and then they commit suicide. Well, my advice is, just don't do that and it'll go away. And hey, there's summer vacation to look forward to.

And yes, video games keep your mind off your troubles. If you don't mind my opinion, i'd rather be leveling up my Alchemy then thinking about ways to kill myself.

Not to criticize you, but trust me, your parents don't hate you. I'm adopted (no lie), so I've never met my parents, and I would do anything to finally meet them. So trust me, never take your parents for granted, 'cause there are some out there who never even got the chance to do so. :|

Anyway, I would recommend talking to people you're cool with, listening to positive music and the like, and just take a walk to cool off. good luck with cheering up. :)

Me too! I'm currently working on how to transmute diamond from pure, non-bonded carbon atoms \' . The tight structure is difficult to transmute, but I'm getting close.
