I say get a license for a gun insted, though I'm not sure about a knife... Just don't deny you have a weapon and say it's for self defence.

Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....

I don't think you can get charged for possession of a knife because as far as I know, you don't need a license for it. I may be wrong though, just make sure you inform the officer of it.

Well in england...

As long as the knife is smaller then the palm of your hand your allowed to carry it with you, anything bigger = jail/warning, you cant get a license unlike a gun, but its hard to get one for a gun...

what happened last night that could of made it usful?

No.

The Criminal Justice Act 1988 says you can only carry a folding knife with a blade of less than 3 inches that is not capable of locking. What you described could include 2 inch fixed blade knives, flick knives, butterfly knives, throwing knives, double-edged knives etc. - all of which are illegal.

I usually carry a knife around to use as a tool. I wouldn't really need it here even if it was useful as a weapon, since my city is pretty safe and I'm a pretty big guy.

it all depends on where you live. In the united states, in some states you can carry a gun around consealed with no permit and no one will yell at you, in some states you need a permit and in some you cant carry one at all. Generally it all depends on how liberal the state is, but to awnser your question I would need to know where you live. England has fairly liberal laws, and I think its illegal to carry one around, but they just take it away and give you a small fine.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

I'm curious as to what 'little mishap' could have been resolved by having a knife?

Maybe he made the mistake of buying something in one of those plastic blister packs that is designed to never be opened by anyone.

Indeed, or a carton of orange. Or maybe a wild boar thrusted him.

I carry a Boy Scout pocketknife all the time (except for to school, they're...picky...about that.) It's about a 3-4 inch blade, and it locks, but it's not flick. It has several blades such as knife, saw, leather-puncher, and can opener. It's really useful, though I've never had to use it as a weapon.

Kids around here used to carry pocket knives clipped to their belts, where everyone could see them. It was always OK, the kids who did that were the farmers mostly. A lot of the teachers carried them too. I took a pocket knife to school everyday. Different places react differently I guess.

That's bull [cabbage] if you ask me.

In the US, you could just get a permit and keep the gun concealed. If police ask, you can show the permit and you'd be ok.

What do you need a knife for? Not to stab anybody, I hope. Otherwise it's best to get this locked, as some people might get affected by this.

Hahaha! Thread win! =D>

I'm glad guns are banned in the UK. To put it in short, I don't see how any civilised country and license the use of one of the most potents instruments for death.
