With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

My question is why do people make these stupid chain letters?

They're not even in just email and IMs anymore. Now they're starting to show up in comments of websites, video pages, forums ect.

There's not even advertising a product so there isn't even a profit involved. :?

Long list of email addresses because your mom/siblings are too stupid to delete them and just click fwd as soon as they see the email. Then take that list and sell it to a spammer.

That is exactly why chain letters are started, and that is exactly why now only 3 people know my email address. If you are stupid enough to forward me all this crap and give spammers my email address, then you don't have the right to email me anymore.

But why do people put these chain letters in comment sections of websites? I have seen them on music.aol.com , youtube.com ect.

Surely there's noway to gather a email list with that one............ I think

Meh, people are idiots. The ones who do that are of the very small minority that make them because they think they are cool, or the just copy/paste them from an email because they think they are cool.

I've black-listed people who have sent me forwards after I told them not to do it.

Then they [bleep] and moan and I'm just "I told you not to do that" :uhh:

As for finding the original sender... x-origin in full email header i think it is.

i haven't used anything other than outlook for a long time, so webmail stuff is fuzzy.

I don't think ive had a chain email for years now tbh. People know not to send me them because i just send it back however many times ure supposed ot in the letter. So if you have to forward it to 30 friends i will reply 30 times back to the same person.

I just dont think chain letters in general are as popular as they used to be. I remember in school before email people use to write proper chain letters (mostly girls) and it peaked in the early 2000s with email. I think people are a bit more mature about it now and know they are all rubbish. I would make a generalisation though that chain letters/emails are still very popular with young girls at the 11-15 range.

I cant remember the last time I received a chain mail.

I used to just hit "reply to all" something I wouldn't do now with the heavy spam crackdowns we have these days (altho technically not spam)

Im fairly sure the previous headers are stripped out in forwarding by many servers and clients to reduce the bulk of the mail.

My inbox is constantly spammed with those annoying '[insert name here] Has Tagged You!'. Inside it says, if you do not reply to this message [insert name here] won't know you have the read the email!

Do I look like I care? Everytime I get one of those now it gets an instant one way ticket to the bin. Too bad I can't block them as the emails come straight from the person. If I did block them I wouldn't be able to recieve normal emails from my friends. <.<

Internet spam = Annoying, time wasting and cluttering.

Ham Spam = Free passage to puke city. :-s

I report those as spam because thats exactly what they are.

I wish people could just use email as it was originally intended instead of idiots clogging it with crap.

But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

I mainly get stupid ones saying 'if you don't send this back some one will come and murder you while your sleeping at excatly 11.23 tonight'.

Delete.

Me and a mate tried to make a forwarding email thing and it didn't turn out too well.

It makes me wonder how people actually start them and get people believing the [poo] that is in them

Well, even youtube has this. The funny thing is that, our school gives us an email, and you can send to the whole school if you want.Within a year,I've accumulated 666 messages I haven't bothered to read.

so i herd u liek devarts?

If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".
