Jagex blocks your PIN?

Featured Replies

Hey hey.

Well with the new update blocking your password, I was wondering if you think Jagex will block you saying your PIN ingame?

Surely it couldn't be that hard because all the programming is already there with the passwords.

So what do you all think?

Will Jagex block your PIN in the near future?

Well i think its kind of pointless. if you cant get pass scammed like that now, what matters if they know your PIN?

pin is encrypted into the game graphics rather than the scripts i believe, thus for its very hard to be accomplished. especially since each pin button has random number placement on each pin button and that pin buttons number is placed in a different section of that button at random

thus for complicating the entire process :-s

Sure. Then we won't be able to say anything. Personally speaking, I feel that if you're stupid enough to type your password or PIN into the game, you deserve your account to be stolen.

I wouldn't say it's a bad idea, but would be very hard to do. It is a downside for hackers, but then it might censor money amounts, making it harder to buy/sell things.

Absolutely not...

...Unless they give in to idiots...

It's going to cause some inconvenience in trading. Since the PIN is solely comprising of numbers..

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

Of course they wont.. Imagine if your pin is 1000.. you couldnt say anything with 1000 in it

Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07.

ya it would be really hard to talk numbers with that blocked out

personally i think they shouldnt have wasted the times with password blocking... they coulda worked on the braclets..

i mean really if you go around saying your pass and pin.. you should get hacked

I don't think so since PIN numbers have ONLY 4 numbers.

This would make it extremely inconvenient.

e.g.: Your pin is 1337 (Lol)

Then you would be like:

"Man, that iron mace is 1337!"

You appear to be typing your PIN Number.

Get what I'm saying?

Hehe you said your pin!

On topic: They may do, but it doesnt seem necessary as if someone is capable of finding out someones password without them being able to say it then they are equally as likely to get pin, even if you couldn't say either.

if you're stupid enough to type your password or PIN into the game, you deserve your account to be stolen.

No, nobody deserves to be scammed or hacked under any circumstances.

Pretty much what Dragon said.

Thread terminated.

I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator?

No Tip.Iters were harmed in the making of this post.

There are limits though. Jagex blocking passwords was a good step to preventing people from getting their accounts stolen, and I'm sure it already has prevented at least a few.

But for the bank pin, I say if you know how to put one on (and I'm sure there are people who still don't know how to put one on still) you should be smart enough to not say it aloud, and considering you have to click on numbers to access your bank - I believe you'd have to be a complete idiot just asking for something bad to happen.

Jagex has done enough security updates for awhile, really the only thing that will help these people from getting "hacked" more would be just to get a talking from their parents - because they ain't going to listen to Jagex except when they see the words "Free Player Update."

That would be too much really. If the game blocks you pass no one will get in your account. Which no means for that update. But it will probably happen next week.

Quit RuneScape :)

Hackers, lurers, scammers and mass flamers do...
Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....

That would raise hell in the chat system, as others have said, money amounts might be censored, which wouldn't work out well :-#

There's cake through here, apparently.

No. Think about it, if you got "hacked" the hacker would have a way of guessing your pin more easily. Just say each number from 0000-9999, and when the "You have attempted to say your pin..." message comes up, they know which one it is. If it takes too long to say all those pins, then they could easily design a macro that says each number, then checks to see if it was blocked.

you know there is a place called outside, better graphics 100% pvp and no fee to play :-w

Seriously doubt this will happen. As stated before, if they don't have your password, then your bank pin is useless anyway. Also, it would be rather silly to basically stop people from saying certain 4-digit amounts. <.<

So does everyone one go around saying

"selling 8256 cowhides!"

Normally they say 8k. I never say any 4 digit number in game....

Doesn't matter if everyone goes around saying it, it's a silly concept. Blocking a password, which should be so obscure that it's never said anyway, is one thing. Blocking a bank pin, which is simply a four digit number, is another.

Wouldn't be very good. Example:

Say my PIN is 1,000 (It's not, I'm just using it as an example). 1,000 is a commonly used number, so ti would probably get ceonsored a lot.
