frogact
Up until a few days ago I would log if I came to a world where someone was hunting, and hop until I found an empty world. Then the other day I was hunting red chin's and another player logs on says, "mind sharing?" I said whatever or no problem or something to that effect, but I was really wishing she'd leave. lol She later told me that her friend was like the 13th or 16th, somwhere around there to get 99 hunter, and he had told her that red chins are faster if there is more than one hunter. something about them spawning up right next to the boxes. He had also told her to kill the rogue wanderers so the more stepfordtype ones would pop up and walk into the box. After that, I started hunting when someone was already there, but you can tell they're huffy like I was. So I'm hoping the 90+ hunters will chime in here and help me put this to rest since I'm only a lowly lvl 71 nooby hunter. Is it faster to hunt chinchompas as a party or stake a claim and shoe away the intruders? And what about the rogues? Do they need to be killed or will they eventually succumb to their fate? jfroggy
Marco
Yeah, as far as I'm aware it is true. I haven't tried it with Red Chincompas, but when I was training on Grey Chincompas I noticed I caught a lot more (like at least 25% more) per minute with someone also catching them just a few paces North of me. If I was on my own I'd see about 3/4 Chincompas would spread out around the area and get stuck behind trees/rocks, meaning I would only really catch about 2 or 3 different Chincompas over and over again. Wkw
That seems right, because they are (in theory) spawning faster. Goes same when killing monsters. If you are killing somthing fairly high level with a fair amount of hp with someone eles, you would be infact getting drops twice as fast as you would be alone. ScubaZteve
Over the pat few days, during peak hours, a lot of people have been coming to my red chin spot and hunting there (without asking, being [wagon] I might add). So at first I wanted them to stop being jerks and leave, but i definatly notice that I was not only getting more chins coming to my boxes, but catching more successfully as well, so I definatly believe this. krisc6
as someone with 99 hunter the fact that theirs a second person their helps a lot.think about it.a chinchompa comes to youre trap and runs away.now unless youre lucky and you get it on another one of youre traps then it will take a while to return and take the bait. if theyresa second theyre theirs a chance that he/she will get it making the red chinchompas in the area respawn faster and increase exp. my max red chinchompas on my own within an hour was 387 my max red chinchompas with a freind within an gour was 457. either my theory is wright or that because my freind was their and i didnt want him to take my box trap spots kept me alert. anyway for me hunting with a freind increases exp rate
FastForce
I didn't hunt since last December! :P But i'll keep that in mind when I go hunt red chins next time. Road To Trimmed Completionist

Connerr
Yeah I'm pretty sure that's true. It's ironic when jerks kick you off "their world" when they'd be getting faster exp if you stayed. I'm 81 hunter btw :P Quit - October 7th, 2007.1700 Total, 4 years of RS.^Click for Blog^

ktmcf121
i'll hop if someone asks me, or if there is already 2 people hunting there, but only up to about 5 times. i just dont have enought time to play to be hopping for hours to find an empty world, plus i dont mind sharing with one other person, because sometimes it's faster. but if there are 3 or more hunters in one spot, it's counterproductive. i'm nearly 96 hunter, if you're wondering

Kill_Thomas9
Yah, it makes sense. You have 1 person, and a chin gets away (lol chin). It goes and gets stuck behind a tree. You can no longer use it. You have 2 people, and a chin gets away. It goes and gets caught by someone else. You can still use it.
Made0f12une
I share if the person asks. If they walk in and try to kick me out then I stand my ground. Most though, as I do, when they see me hunting, they hop to another world ^^ClicK^^"I backed my car into a cop car the other dayWell he just drove off sometimes life's ok...Alright already we'll all float onAlright don't worry we'll all float on" - Isaac BrockDays Hunting:4 - Kingly Imps Caught:2Money Earned: 4.5-5m

momeydragon721
I do share however It must be of equal level. If I hunt with a 63-89 the lower level get way less. I try to warn hunters that they may get less with me, but it is not always well recieved. :wall: I enjoy the company! cool75155
It's only fast until both players are around level 75 then it's best to stay on your own. And to answer your question at 95 hunter I vastly overpower most hunters so I take my spot. 814 to 99 HunterTrimmed Hunter Cape: 99 CookingTotal Barrows Items: 53Total Barrows Earnings: 65,545,000gp
Abyssalwhip
Well if someone tries to shoo me out of a hunter spot (if I was there first, otherwise I would gladly hop) I would kill all the chinchompas until he\she left. TeeBeaun
This is actually a very scientific understanding of huting in several species. Birds do the same thing. If you watch birds like Scaup's or Shearwater's in the water, a bunch will dive to fish at the same time. If one misses one it will be flushed and a bird next to it has a higher chance of getting the prey. It's called the beater effect. Seems as if hunting chinchompas is similar. Nabbagad
I think i get them faster by myself, though one time when someone joined me he said he was getting them faster than normal. But i still prefer to be by myself. quantumkik
Sharing only works if both players have a relative low hunter level. Then a lot of chinchompas manage to disable traps. If you hunt alone, they wander away making you wait for them to come back. If you share, there are twice as much traps around, so the chance they wander away is a lot lower. So then you both catch more chinchompas then when you hunt alone. But sharing doesn't work if you have a high hunter level. Most chinchompas get caught in your traps then anyway. When I was training for lvl 99, a few times there was a lower lvl player there with me. Every time I caught about the same number as I caught training alone (or even a bit less), but the low lvl caught less then normal an decided fast to go away. I also shared with high lvl players some times. Then I caught less. Also it's confusing when there are 10 traps around (which ones are mine?). About killing the chinchompas that are moving away from your traps: I tried that a few times. But they are very fast (they run almost as fast as I can run), so you have to chase them for a long time. And in that time you are not seeing a trap falling down or another chinchompa jumping into a trap. If you kill them when they are still close, it's possible they turn around and you hit them right when they are going for a trap. That's why I decided not to do it anymore. Ltje
Isn't it possible to kill them with magic then? I haven't hunted since a long time, but couldn't you kill them with firestrike or something? That way you don't have to run after them. Anyway, thanks for the info. :) Retired.

Robert_Rdam
Yes, I think the do spawn faster when they are getting caught faster. But I want to be alone when I do hunter, not that I don't like a chat with someone but just because I consentrate a lot when I do hunter. So I want to be left alone. :D But if it's momeydragon that hunts next to me, she can stay. :D Credits to Skully Sc for the signature.
krisc6
heres something aseell to consider when people say that high levels should hunt alone. at 99 hunter with all the larupia stats bonuses, hunter potted and hunter cape,i still get red chinchompas disabling my traps
