"Hidden Moderators"

Featured Replies

Everyday we all see scams that go unpunished. Often times one seeks justice to come, but all we can do is report them. Now there are many violators who have been banned through this method, but there might be a better way. For the moderators of the game there are many responsibilities that have been put upon them to help the Runescape Community. They are part of the confidential Moderator Centre. Note what the Runescape site says about this centre:

̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅThe Player Moderator Centre is a special area of the website, restricted to Player Moderators, which contains tools and information which allows the Player Moderators only to perform their role more effectively in the game. These tools include: Guidelines, Codes of Conduct and a forum for discussing issues that may arise as a group and with Jagex staff. ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Å

These moderators represent YOU!!! They are the ones that find issues in the game and talk to Jagex staff about problems through a classified forum.

As we have all seen in the past though, a moderator walks into a market to sell an item and all the players ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åbehavior̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

It would work if there weren't idiots who would claim to be Hidden P-Mods when they really aren't.

Thats true. Thats why i thought that having the ability to choose wether to have a crown or not would come in handy. If someone claims just ignore them or tell them to sow crown. Besides if someones gloating there a mod there probably not.

CONS: would people moan about this being entrapment? Yes, but if you are the one to fret you shouldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t be doing the activities you are worrying about getting caught doing!

As long as one isnt going to get reported why worry?

True...true

this has been suggested before and always gets the same replies.

I gotta say this again, Jagex CAN'T because it's technically impossible.

As someone else said on another thread like this, not all mods are good. I can picture a mod turning off their crown, cursing out/insulting someone to provoke them, and when the person says something back, they turn on their mod crown and report/ban them.

Yep, it's sad to say but there are mods like that.

In Soviet Russia, glass eats OTers.

Alansson Alansson, woo woo woo!

Pink owns yes, just like you!

GOOOOOOOOOO ALAN! WOO!

that's a good idea, but there would be a problem with imposters...

I don't feel that this will work too well. The reason why I think this is because people will start falsely claiming that they are a player moderator. The best way for Player moderators to avoid this is to just walk into a market place quietly and don't talk for a minute, then they do whatever they are doing.

i guess i didn't think about the corrupt mods. This would probaby be a way to catch them though?

Except that mods can't ban (only silence so they can't speak for 48 hours). Also, any member can use the report button and it would show what the mod said, and the mod would get in trouble. And the mod would do the same thing to himself if he hit the report button

mods can go invisible so players cant notice them on screen

Yes when someone sees a mod they think "oh cool a mature, no leetspeak, use actual periods in sentences player!" Most of them are like that, they like to represent jagex because jagex picked them, but some are not. A few months ago I was killing unicorns for some horns in Catherby. A player moderator came up and said "Move noob im mod i can ban u my unis plz." I was completely appaulded by the statement. When I said "Please can you switch worlds? I was here first," he totally started cussing me out, I mean literally like tons of *'s. I was so insulted I reported him.

By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .

I suppose that could work...But how well?

First of all, like some people have said, there would be lots of noobs claiming to be hidden player mods. Secondly, Jagex would have to make many new player mods for it to work at all. Without enough hidden player mods to control rule breakers more, the whole thing would be a waste of time.

Though the current system isn't the best, it still works, and the saying goes "If it's not broken, don't fix it." Still, I agree something should be done, but I don't think your idea would work the best.

it wont work..ok....as the Pmod said its Technically impossible...besides iv seen this one guy claiming he was part of the jagexs team and lol it was funny i found his hideing spot and pretty much got him banned...but other wise this wont work..corrupt mods. and just keep on reporting bad people...not enough people all curse in one area so....it would be really random..just report them..

For that to happen, it requires an assumption that the average intelligence of Runescape is higher than that of a cheese sandwich. Since it isn't, there will be scammers running around saying "I am a mod with my crown turned off, give me your password" and people will do it.

suportter here!

Are you sick and tired of people telling you what to put in your sig? So am I. No, don't put this in your sig, you'll be doing what THEY want!

mods are not invinsible. My guess is that once one of themget report Jagex looks at them with no mercy and will take away there "modship".

Just think. Your a hidden mod, and you mute him. lol. can a mod mute a fellow mod though?

Meh, a big poster that says BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU would do the same thing...

Just kidding

I think this could be a good idea but I doubt jagex would implement this. And, the player mod doesn't have to talk, it is not like it is next to their name when you right click them.
