Opinion on some recent updates

It seems to me Jagex are trying to stop people doing things like pure training etc, which is good.

The new Achievement diary is a good thing for this as people have to do certain tasks which in return give different skill exp.

Also although not recent Uri's emotes, as annoying as they are, they make people increase skills, do quests etc to gain the rewards.

I think more things like this would be great in the future as good updates.

I really dont think Jagex cares about pure training. The uri treasure trails do make people train their stats and do quests, but for people who have already got high stats and done quests its just an unnecessary pain.

I think everyone is free to play the game anyways they like :s And if that means you have to miss out on some parts of that game then that's that, but this shouldn't mean jagex should add things like these on purpose because they shouldn't tell people how to play the game...

And since when do the karamja tasks give xp that some people don't want?

Pure training can still go on even with the update. Whoever said that once a update is out, they have to drop all current things they are doing to check it out? They can just totally disregard the update.

The tasks don't give skill exp anyway, either you get xp lamps for completing all tasks of a difficulty or you gain exp in the process of the tasks, which is slower than your usual powertraining.

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

Pures train a set of skills - hence some wont have the required agility or mining etc so they wont be able to complete the diary, simple as that.

Also omlie birds and other things can only be obtained by doing certain quests. blah blah blah.

I have a main, inkofdeath, yet I lead a pure clan, (the pure in my sig is my curren.t but i do have high lvl ones in p2p and f2p), most skillers or players on tip it do not go pking or try to attempt pures, or they attempt it, and fail misserably and keep it to themselves...either way posting about pking in any form on tip it won't get you an unbiased answer. And to me your flame baiting-.-. Without pures nature rune prices would go down i'd say 100-150 or more. Food would go down even further. bloods would become less exspenive(not good if you get them as drops). Also alot of prices on raw materials may go up as well, with extra money floating around...

I'm basically saying without pures their isn't a 'runescape' anymore, probably just skillscape. Diversity in runescape would go away almost entirely. Probably about 200k/1mill subcribers would go away from members too.

Anyways on topic: jagex isn't stopping pures at all, they're ignoring the fact humans are behind the characters, and with humans, anything is possible.

until people kill off originality, which happened a while ago.

the updates are as good as they can do without causing mass riots from spoiled brats

pures...diversity?

even if you just look at usernames, there's almost no originality in pures, and 1m subscribers is everyone, without pures, there will still be people in members

Even if he is wrong about diversity, skatedog is dead on about how pures influence the economy.

I mean there aren't even enough pures to match the surplus supply of sharks, thus the price drops.

The truth is Jagex shouldn't be against pures, Jagex should be against macroers; and this is exactly what they are doing.

I don;t think jagex is discouraging pures at all.

They have said before many times they DO NOT aim updates at minority groups eg pures, but they do not aim updates to work against them.

Updates are made for the general player aka someone who does a bit of everything. It is a pures choice to do things the way they do. Therefore an update that requires stats they don't have is neither aimed at them or against them.

Thats like saying OMG jagex is agaisnt new players because they released a high lvl quest. Because low level players don;t have the stats

I also disagree with you as well as myweponsgood does, i mean after all thats like a 1/4th of they combat attack stats that a pure normally has while pking in the wildy? while wearing the new d stone gloves.

That bolded statement matches with the other bolded statement...

Not being as many pures in the game hardly has to do with the price of sharks...yes maybe they use them the most?...but im prettty sure that its the macros lowering the price

Roses Kitsym. Is that not a unique well-thought name? Kitsym backwards is Mystik, did I not put equal time into my nick as someone else? I have 1169 Total, 129 QP at 68 Combat. I'm a pure.

Here at TIF the majority of you are [developmentally delayed]s who FAIL MISERABLY at PKing so automatically Pures are BAD. Honestly you people need to get a life and understand people can choose to do things their own way without you criticizing their every move.

Jagex is slowly outdating pures with things like defenders, things that require defence, ect.

I understand perfectly where Jagex is coming from. Say you had to do a huge, 10 chapter long project for school. You worked ludicrously hard on it, doing umpteen hours of research, thousands of words and hours of effort, and you were delighted with the finished product. And even then, you kept going back and tweaking small pieces just to make it better.

You hand it in, and the teacher marks it on the basis of the first page and a chapter selected at random. You'd feel pretty hard done by, no? A little insulted, maybe?

I reckon that's how Jagex feel when they look at how most people play their game. They've put years of effort into making this game as good as they can, with some beautiful areas, and they see the places they've put so much effort into abandoned for other, more boring training spots, while their effort is ridiculed. I'd imagine they feel a little insulted that for all their hard work people are either saying 'hmmm, interesting for 10mins, now back to doing whatever I was doing before' or - worse - 'OMG JaGEX update SUKS!!!11 I cud get waaaaaay more xp doing.... etc etc'.

So Jagex are merely trying to get more players interested in the larger world that they've put effort into, not just the standard training spots. Which is perfectly understandable, and I support them all the way.

Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores:

Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Stupid MTA
