When i logged in today, i noticed that the path leading from lumbride to varrock was now stone... :-k I remembered that there vas a update comming out, so i was joyus to see the new varrock... little did i know... :boohoo: I was shoked. Purely shoked. When i saw the entrance, it reminded me of my least favourit place in the game, Jatizzo. Because the walls are so dark there.... and just so cold.... Uhhhggg. Varrock is your hometown, varrock is the first place u visit, *unless u went to draynor* And personnaly, i hate the new varrock....hate it.

Now i have a question that i noticed JAGeX is forgetting to do... a lot.

Did they ask us?

Did they ask us if we wanted our black hole to be taken away?

Did they ask us if we want a dumb ol' CHICKEN SUIT for a gift!?!

Did they ASK us if we wanted every single song changed, making some of them sound quite bad?

Did they ask us if we wanted our most closely related town, our most popular town, and sometimes even most personnal town taken away, in just one day?!

I Think Not.

This topic is open to discussion, please do not spas at me about my opinions about the new varrock and some other updates, these are my opinions, mine.

Do they ask the fans every time they change a sports regulation? Hell, anyone know if they even ask the players?

Did anyone ever ask you to spell correctly? Evidently not.

Everything aside, asking the public if they wanted changes would take way too long. Here, upload these 100 songs and tell us if you want them changed to this. Here, here's a picture of your Christmas gift. Do you like it? No? Ok, do you like this one?

Also, I liked the chicken suit, the black hole wouldn't work now logistically, I kinda like Varrock, and I never listen to any of the songs. You can't please everyone with every update. Honestly, I didn't think any of those updates were bad.

The only other option would to be never change anything, never make anything new. I think this would get a lot of people bored, quickly.

Just my opinion.

I really like the new Varrock. And I agree with Koddo that if nothing was ever changed that things would become quite boring.

Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

It's Jagex's game, they can do whatever the hell they want to it.

They obviously cannot ask the players opinion on every update, so they substitute that for the polls. It is quite simply impossible to please the entire player base with any given update, there will always be people who are unhappy about it. That is the reality.

Personally I don't have a problem with it, although it will take some getting used to.

did you ask us if we wanted to hear this bs? i think not.

"How many Runescape"ers does it take to screw in a light bulb"

"One!, and the rest to complain about how it was better before!"

I believe it went:

"How many runescapers does it take to screw in a light bulb?"

"50, 1 to screw it in, and 49 to complain about how it was better before"

not that there really is a correct way

Maybe if Jagex would say..."work" with the community everything would be a little better. For some reason they only do what they want, and make sure everything goes there way. That is apparent from a couple of different issues that have arisen on these forums and the simple fact that they do not even recognize public forums. Quite the opposite actually, they have introduced the KB (which is an excellent guide, gotta give them that) which seperated them almost completely from the outside forums/sites.

My personal opinion is that they should definatly hire a PR because they have the worst community relations out of any game I've ever seen. It wouldn't be hard for some PR's to come onto a forum every now and then and just reply here or there, or even just read what the people think. This happens on alot of the Guild Wars forums I am a part of. Hell with GW, Arenanet (company that created GW) has links to the forums they think will help the community on the main site. They have a couple of PR's that come onto forums and help explain some issues that might be going around and try to make things a little clearer.

At the moment we have a company who is stuck in it's own little world and will not let the community in.

Having said all this, I actually loved the update, there was nothing wrong with it. This was a response about Jagex in general though.

@black hole: with the number of people banned, it REALLY wouldn't work

@chicken suit: yeah, it's lame :P. I associate it with people following me asking about my meat tenderizer, and begging for money. There have certainly been better holiday rewards. But, they would have to seriously update their methods of communication with players, if they were to ask us about something.

@the songs: Personally, I like them much better, when I actually listen to them

@Varrock: once again, I like it more this way. It isn't really that scary. The walls are a little darker now, but that's it. The detail is much better. Besides, I kind of like dark scary places (Meiyerditch is about my favorite place in the game ::' ). They're much more interesting. Did you expect another gleaming white falador? Jagex has always described Varrock as being a rather grimy city.

hey, y don't u do jagex's job for them? ask 9 million players their opinions on hopw to update the game. seriiously man, that's like asking every1 in london or NYC wether they want to revamp the city, and ask for suggestions. not possible. by the time u get ur answers, they'll b so jumbled that u'll have a max of 20 votes for one option. that's y jagex can't take ur opinion on how to update all of the game, only some parts.

btw, nice light bulb joke :XD:

If I wanted to do Jagex's job I would have applied already and moved overseas. Obviously it's not easy, and 9 million players is way over.

Point is, PR people actually do make the community atleast feel like Jagex is in some way listening. Hell I guess it is too much to ask, they don't even go by thier polls they have on the homepage.

Either way, PR positions give people a general sense of "Hey we are Jagex, and we give a [cabbage]."
