It will always be somewhat of a challenge but eventually it'll be less of one. Freesia Posted June 22, 2007 Share Posted June 22, 2007 Hmm though I have some of the "superior" 99 capes a previous poster mentioned, I still think that fire cape is a better achievement than some of my skill capes. Going through all that 2 hours of monsters + a final one definitely seems harder than going in rounds through ape atoll course xxxxx times, I got the fire cape because I was lucky to some extent. By the way, how is it not a symbol of your status? You kill monsters for 3 hours straight. Finally, you get to a level 702 monster that is impossible to beat without prayer and can 1 hit KO anyone. It actually takes real skill getting it and the reason why a lot of low levels have been getting them is because they already have gotten them on there mains and are skilled at the caves. Yes, people do pay others to do this deed for them which is disappointing in the eyes of people who truthfully defeated Jad. For me, I attempt to defeat Jad 8 times. Thats 20 hours for me and millions of gp. Since I got it in the end after fustrated endings I am proud to receive this symbol. The status of the Fire Cape has decreased since it's release, but I believe it still resembles most of what we remember as an accomplishment. (My 2 cents) : Need help or advise? Have a question? Sure, some low level players have gotten fire capes, but the character was created for that sole purpose (for the most part). Just because they can get fire cape at such a low level doesn't mean that it's easy; it means that that person is quite skilled (and there's some luck mixed in). Status symbol? I believe it is. Although there are a lot of people with it, they all had to go through the 2-3 hours of combat for it. About paying others to do it, I've never heard of this practice before, and as of right now, I have no comment on the issue. But today so many people have the fire cape that most of the people who got the fire cape don't see it as a status symbol anymore, just a cape with nice str bonus you don't want to die with in a remote area, far away from a teleport. However the people who really seem to like the fire cape but don't have one (preferable lower levels) still seem to look at it as if it's a status symbol. Now, at my level it was still quite tricky. Luring the 90s/360s away from each other was quite tricky, even before the big kahuna himself I had used two sara brews thanks to mess-ups on my part. Unfortunately, Jad spawned in the middle instantly. Even at a high(er) level it can be difficult to get, just because it takes less time than a 99 to get doesn't mean it is any easier.
