2008 Presidential Elections

As only a 13 year-old can, I try to pay attention to politics, and am usually on top of many current events. I am a very avid "Bush-Hater", as I believe a toothbrush could be a better president. Anyway, onto the point of the thread; the 2008 presidential elections.

One of the main reasons I have created this thread is to view your opinions on two of the current candidates: Hilary Clinton and Barack Oboma.

Barack Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4th, 1961. Barack's mother, Ann Dunham, grew up in small-town Kansas. Her father worked on oil rigs during the Depression, and then signed up for World War II after Pearl Harbor. His mother went to work on a bomber assembly line, and after the war, bought a house through the Federal Housing Program, and moved west to Hawaii. Remembering the values of empathy and service that his mother taught him, Barack put law school and corporate life on hold after college and moved to Chicago in 1985, where he became a community organizer with a church-based group seeking to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods plagued with crime and high unemployment rates. He went on to earn his law degree from Harvard in 1991, where he became the first black president of the Harvard Law Review.

Hilary Clinton is recognized as very smart, politically speaking. In 2000, Hillary was elected to the United States Senate from New York. As Senator, Hillary Clinton has continued her advocacy for children and families and has been a national leader on homeland security and national security issues. Earlier in her life, she followed her heart and a man named Bill Clinton to Arkansas. They married in 1975 and their daughter Chelsea was born in 1980.Hillary ran a legal aid clinic for the poor when she first got to Arkansas and handled cases of foster care and child abuse. Years later, she organized a group called Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families. I have no need to explain about Bill Clinton =p.

As you may know, these are "rule-breaking" candidates, as they are the first women and black candidates. Personally, I believe Hilary Clinton would make the best president out of any of the current candidates, and believe Barack Obama would be the best vice president, as he has been considered a "citizen of the world" and has traveled many places.

I just wanted to know, what are your opinions on these two candidates?

Hillary Clinton should leave before she's ahead!

I'm hoping that a Democrat will win. Actually - I'm certain that one will win. I'm rooting for Obama. He sounds like an excellent candidate.

I'm all against Republicans on this election. But honostly - Bush isn't all that bad of a president. Yes - he went to war, but the economy has grown 13% I believe since he's taken office. He started his first term with the 9/11 attacks - and that's hard for anyone to handle, especially a new president with little experience as the president.

Yeah for sure, I honestly am pretty neutral on Bush. I do, however, find myself arguing with democrats simply because so many of them know nothing about the situation, and simply bash because: "hey, everyone else is doing it!" before even giving him a chance.

I will first need to think about if that Democrat in the elections will be stupid as Clinton. If he is, I'd say Bush, or if it is the opposite, I'll just have to pick Bush, since I hate all Democrats which is more than 1 person and Bush is only 1 person.

Hilary Clinton in 2001 after 911 gave Bush her "full support", whatever its worth, to pursue the terrorists in afghanistan. Now she says Bush is an incompetant President. She'll say anything to get elected, her opinions change according to the region. She would probably make the worst president out of all of them. And don't call me a sexist or anything, if anything I'm less sexist than Hilary-lovers because I'm critiqueing her on who she is and not on the fact that she's the first woman would-be-president.

I'm actually leaning towards Ron Paul this election because I am pretty frustrated with the Republicans and the Democrats and he isn't a pawn of the party. His voting record backs up what he says he will do unlike 95% of the other candidates. I don't agree with Ron Paul on everything but at least I know what I am getting with him.

Hilary, Obama, Mitt Romney, Guiliani, McCain... I don't trust the words coming out of their mouths.

Hillary Clinton is inconsistent, she says whatever the people want to hear at the time. It's not like she'll ever pursue what she's promising, she just says it because that's what the people want her to say.

As for Obama, I just don't think he has what it takes to be president. He's a good man but president? Nah.

If I wasn't a teenager I would vote for Ron Paul. Like Ambassadar said above me, you know what you're getting. I like that in somebody that controls the country.. actually does stuff that he says <.<

i would also like to add i do admire that bush kept to his guns when he said he was going to war with Iraq and he did, if he had changed his mind at the last sec i would have lost the little respect i had for him

btw im not a fan of bush, but its not like i can say anything being that i wasn't allowed to vote in the 00' or 04' eletcion 08' be my first

for the 08' election im learning towards Hiliary she has had some experence being the first lady, also being the sentor of NY and being part of the homeland security

i agree with you and im a female myself i think hilary clinton would make a horrible president. she is a hippocrite.. and she lies to please the public. and also, in an election, isnt there supposed to be a republican candidate, a democratic candidate, and an independant? but in this the current candidates are both democrats? correct me if im wrong but if they are both democrats thats not fair.

Never take life too seriously, nobody gets out alive.

Personally, I don't want a democratic president. I think we've gone a bit far on the war..but Bush did go on to do what he said he would.

If I *HAD* to choose between Barack and Hilary Clinton for president..I'd choose Obama. I don't like hillary at all. I don't got anything against a female president..It's just that Hilary only says something to please the public at the time..I doubt she would do half of the things she said if she actually was president.

PS..is it Hillary or Hilary?! Or something different entirely :-k

I'm sorry. Why are we talking about this now? I mean, come on, they're the 2008 elections. It̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s 2007. Now, I realize people care about this, but we've heard the debates (what, 3, 4 for the Republicans alone?), seen everyone's views, we're out of stuff to talk about. I mean, we've got what, enough candidates to fill two baseball teams, and we're still talking about people who haven̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t said they're running? I could care less what Al Gore does...

But to the actual topic, as bad as this sounds, Obama will lose votes because of his skin color and Clinton will lose votes because she's a woman, and her last name is the same as the famous Bill "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" Clinton. And I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m starting to hate these people that say stuff about a ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅDream ticket̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

I am pro war. War is good. Without war this world would be just a pile of radioactive dust right now. If we didn't have war, who would mantain the terrorists? Would they go blowing up more countries? Think about it. I am all for bush, and I think he's done a great job.

You sure you don't want to rephrase this a bit?

There is a time for war but to just be "pro war" is a bit odd sounding to me. Did you mean to say you are for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan? The way you phrased it sounds like you are for war anytime anywhere if the only alternative was peace.

Not to mention he spent 4 years of his childhood living in Indonesia where he attended a radical muslim elementary school.

He will never ever be president of the US and will lose in the upcoming Democratic primaries, but for some reason if he becomes president Im leaving the country.

Forget about war, lets look at what bush has done to destroy the environment.

10. A supply-side energy policy developed behind closed doors with oil company executives. Remember Vice President Cheney's comment in 2001? "Conservation may be a sign of personal virtue, but it is not a sufficient basis for sound, comprehensive energy policy." When did conservatives stop believing in conservation? Never before have energy, security, and the environment been so strongly coupled. Bush "protects" our economy while ignoring the lifeblood of future environmental and economic progress̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã

Turn to your TV and change the channel, FOX isn't an intelligent way of gathering information.

Anyway, I'm for Obama. Hillary, as stated above, is a hypocrite who will say anything to pease the crowd in front of her, so I don't honestly understand her motivers fully, and I'm not willing to take that sort of risk.

My god, you democrats say Bush is a bad president. Would you rather have John Kerry or Al Gore for president? I don't think so.

Al Gore: He has an unhealthy obsession about global warming propaganda, atleast Bush doesn't go overboard on saving the environment

John Kerry: Lol

By the way, I think the war in Iraq and Afghanistan is good, not good as though people are dieing, but good outcome effects. Just imagine. If we never went to the middle east, the terrorists would be invading multiple countries, death rates would skyrocket more then they are now, and possibly nuclear armageddon in asia.

What's unhealthy about wanting to preserve the planet?

What's really unhealthy is not trying to preserve the planet.
