Holy flamage, Batman!

He probably learned his lesson long ago, I doubt that flaming him will make him feel any better. Way to flog the dead horse .

I kind of feel bad that you can't come in the clan chat. It is kind of nice.

lol...

You guys act as if he did a murder

So he spammed his clan name during an event, got unlucky and he got muted. Okay, I'm still waiting for the big "crime". Nubs do way worse things in catherby, and they just roam free or get away with a few blk marks.

Point is, jagex won't allow muted people to talk in a clan chat because that would kill the purpose of the mute.

And this guy got unlucky, and got muted, I don't see how he "deserves" the mute. Heck, none of us was there, so why even bother talking about this? Why make this personnal? This is a general issue, not something that has do to with only one individual. Anyway, not much to discuss here, just go do something else.

To be honest..... no yes it is fair.

You broke enough rules that made Jagex feel the community would be a better place if you could not talk anymore....

Perm mutes are not handed out lightly, I know peopel who it's happned to and as of yet I have not know one person who did not deserve it. If there was a chance that yes ok.... have a go we trust you! your appeal would have been granted.

It is Jagex opinion that they think you talking is a damaging thing.... why should they continue to be "fair".

Can you people actually reply instead of just "omg u deserve the mute"?

I think mutes should be able to talk in clan chat, considering they'd only be heard by people who choose to hear them. :P

Thats not entirely true.

Yes, In theroy muted people using clan chat would only be heard by those wanting to hear them as they could kick him out or leave the chat if they wanted to.

However it was the same way beforehand before this fella was muted for spamming up the screen or whatever he did.

Only those people that wanted to hear him actually had to hear him thanks to the friends / hide / and off sections of private chat.

To the maker of this thread, yes it may have seemed like harmless fun at he time, and maybe you did know and didn care what your repercutions would be. But now this just goes to show you that maybe you should think a little bit further down the line for when things like this get added into the game.

Perm muted means that you are not allowed to use that chat options in RS to talk to someone. Seems quite obvious to me then that you arent able to use the clan chat either.

If you were able to use it, a perm mute would be quite useless as you could still talk to anyone. So why would you be muted then in the first place?

Please be aware of a few things before using clan chat

I already made this mistake myself, it wont happen again, do not speak about tip.it in chat, nor IRC or any 3 rd party software. Jagex rules applies to all chat :)

I bet i get a warning laters from Jagex for my mistake :(

I think a few of us forget where we talking :) so thought i post this reminder to all. Before we get into trouble..

Actually it's just the WEBSITE you shouldn't be able to post.

If you named IN-GAME your clan as "tip it', then you should be able to refer to the in-game clan name itself.

Just to be unambigious, you should probably name your clan "tip it" or "tip iters" without the dot (tip it, not tip.it) so it doesn't look like a website address.

Wow, not very nice people #-o

Anyways, I don't agree that muted people should be able to use Clan chat, whatever they did, they deserved the mute.

But you, on the other hand, shouldn't deserve a permanent mute, I mean, spamming a clan name is that offensive?! :uhh:

[insert birds flying in a circle here]

Yes, that sig was annoying.

To all the people saying "z0mg u did teh crime now u must pay teh price lol!" please just STFU. He was muted for spamming at a clan event, most likely "XXX on Player YYY" which all clans do. He was just unfortunate enough to have been reported by some wanna-be mod with no life.

I have been temp-muted before by a [bleep]wad player mod just for saying "rawr I'll bite you <3" to one of my friends when she said "bite me" to someone else. Not all mutes are deserved.

Well i spoken to Paul and slightly to Andrew about some problems in game and also just sent in a msg to Jagex explaining what and why happened. They have poped into our chat , so they know the problems i'm up against.

I dont think Andrew or Paul or Jagex thougth that sites would use clan chat, so anyways they aware of the problems , and i wait to see what happens next. I do not want to upset Jagex in anyway. We did a offical one to stop rouge ones appearing which could be both damaging to this site as welll as to users in game if they dontknow our staff and cant tellt he difference between a scanning one and real one.

and yes im aware i messed up on the char name for clan chat they are aware of that also, i will deal with it when i can. I can assure you though the char will not be used in game.

Well if you were perm muted and could still use clan chat then it would defeat the purpose of the mute because you could still talk to people using the clan chat channels, so muting people would kind of become pointless.

That is true. However, there was no need for everyone pointing fingers at the TC for getting muted.

Well, we can discuss the question of fact or the question of law.

I support you on the question of fact -- advertising a clan does not warrant a perm mute. But Jagex is always paranoid that some idiot noob will be scammed out of his account by going to a bad site *AS IT ALWAYS HAPPENS*, so they adopted this 0-tolerance policy of blocking ALL sites and punishing breakers of this rule *very* severely, and you just have to learn to live with it.

On the point of law, however, saying "it's easy to say <> until you get perm muted" is not valid. Just because I wouldn't like to be one who got punished, doesn't mean the punishment is wrong in principle.

Live free or die. First option is exhausted, so guess what remains?
