Why do you prefer RS to other MMORPG's?

I used to be very into Runescape, obsessed one might say.

But this was back when I was 11, and when Runescape was new, not a lot of people and wasnt all about the money and easy leveling. Then i stopped playing for a while to come back to a game that didnt seem appealing to me.

so now i play other online games (cough WOW cough) but i still browse tip.it from time to time to see how the game i once fell in love with is doing.

But theres just not enough to keep me (personally) drawn to it.

so what im asking is, what draws you to runescape?

is it the people? the skills? the quests? Sheer addiction?

I dont see why you would play a game simply on the price alone, yes 5 dollars a month is easy on your wallet, but you can easily pay a one time fee to play guildwars or diablo and take a bigger load off it

or for 3 times the price, WoW. 15 dollars a month can easily be obtained just collecting coins and depositing them in the nearest coinstar location (or any other coin to dollar exchange station)

I feel the same about runescape as the way you do, many years ago.....back in classic days i was an avid player, any free time i had i poured into runescape, rs2 was announced and my addiction grew.

i played throughout the years and all summer, mostly focussed on making loads of gp merchanting. soon it was september and i had finish my 6th form, time to find a job.

so i found a job and poured all my free time into that, working long and hard, just playing runescape occassionally when a good update was released.

now we are in august, nearly one year on and i feel hardley drawn to play such a basic game, but that said i have poured countless hours, time and effort into my character and i could never just not play at all.

If i play a game now it usually is halo2 on xbl, soon it will be halo3 and that will have my free time.

Timmy is so good at it that people ask him for help.

He Said Excuse me Hell Slayer can I speak to you for a moment, would you like to join a clan called The White Legion?

Its your items and to have someone steal it, without hesitation, its just wrong.

There are many 'quests', in other games there also are many quests, but more like kill 350 grey wolfs or something like that, in Runescape the quests differ from eachother and have nice storylines, in my oppinion better than many Offline Rpg's, and it's nicely to play runescape in combination with something else, like watching a movie, surfing the net or something like that. :XD:

I play because of the mm part of mmorpg. It;s a great game to play with friends, and because I'm not that good, there's always aot still to do, so it seems more like a mini-adventure too.

I sometimes don't play for a while and go onto other games like bf2, but i find it enjoyable simply because it is so easy to talk to and play with other people.

Well, first and most important of all the game is still FUN to me. I've played WoW, EQ, Guild Wars, and many other big and small time MMO's, and I usually lose interest after the first month or two. The only game I've found that even comes close to entertaining me like Runescape is City of Heroes, which I play off and on.

By far the best thing about Runescape, for me anyways, is the quests. Each quest actually has it's own unique goals and storyline, you won't find any "Go kill 300 boars", or "Go collect 25 cactus apples", and I like that. It may mean that there aren't as many quests, but it's quality over quanitity, and more are coming all the time.

I also like the skills. Each skill is very unique, and comes with it's own rewards. And the skills aren't just a little side feature either. If you want, you could play the whole game working on nothing but your skills, and never once touch combat. You won't find many other games with that much work put into non combat skills.

I used to play WoW.....alot. From beta up, but i always seemed to come back to RS. WoW is geared towards PvP and i just like cutting trees and occasionly training combat. Guildwars is gear oriented. Idk i think its cuz it what i grew up on and it doesnt require a graphics card that costs more then my car.

(also sorry if i make no sense its 3 in the morn here)

I don't want to spend the work and money required to set my self up in another game when i've already founded myself in runescape. This game is cheap and fun, what else is there to ask for?

I play just because i can't play any other mmorpgs due to my computer.

Its fun but i prefer games that take a bit of my skill of fast movements (aka reflex's)

I could pay the 15 bucks for WOW but can't pay the extra 300 bucks to get a new computer.

The simplicity, i put a lot of effort into my acc, friends, frequent updates, not long loading times.

I have played WoW and I still have membership on it, but its not as fun as I find RS, WoW u do quests over and over until ur high enuff lvl and im horrible at pvp on the game.

Very simple the quests and the skills....i havent yet found 1 other mmorpg where as i can go train a skill and have it be so entertaining and social ESPECIALLY WoW. WoW has some really good things for it but when it comes to skills its just awful. I want to be able to do a skill and have it be fun and social.

Then there is the quest's, i like the quests in runescape because of the well thought out stories and complexity of them. Again i havent found another game who does there quests nearly as good as runescape. I also like the fact that in runescape i have the potential to wear(err almost) ANYTHING that i see another player wearing (discluding things like untradeable holiday items.)

In other games *cough* *cough* WoW *cough* i noticed i can either be this this or that then if i am not that certain type of person i cant where there type of armour...suppose i am a priest i will not be able to wear things such as plate armour or even leather armour. I am only aloud to wear things like cloth.....those are my reasons for sticking with runescape....

-One day while chopping mages i traded an autoer and he gave me all his magic logs ROFL!
